Please note: The mother and child see their home as it once was while Davis sees it as it is now.
There had been many times where people were in and out of the house most of them did not stay for long. Most of them ran out just as Davis did. Once Davis was out of sight. Sophie walked...well not walked really...more like glided into the living room where Patricia had been sitting.

"Mommy..did he see you sitting there? I see you and I see me. Can you teach me to use my hands? How come we don't use our legs to walk or run like he did? How come we can't go out, you know, past the sidewalk? I want to go beyond the yard to the park. Didn't we used to use or hands and stuff. How come I can't get on the school bus and go to school anymore.
Moving closer to her daughter. Smiling at all her questions hoping she could answer them.

"Well sweetie, where shall I start?" Some of the questions Patricia didn't know how to answer. The questions have never been brought up before as Davis sparked something inside Sophie and Patricia too. She thought she would start with the easy ones first.

"Sophie, you know how that when you think something in your mind..like say your music box for example. When you want it to play..you just use your mind and think about it and it plays. And say..when you want to go outside to your playground or into another room..you just think about it and there you are..."

"Yes Mommy, I know those things. When I try to use my hands now they just go through everything. I want to use my hands again. How can I do that mommy?"

"It's like when you think about moving around, only think about your hands and in your mind think about picking up your ball with your hands. You can also use the same principle when you want to walk or run. Go on give it a try, walk to where your ball is and pick it up."

Sophie found that walking was the easy part and after trying many times to pick up her ball....finally she was able to pick it up with her hands.

"MOMMY....MOMMY....I DID IT......MOMMY..." she shouted running into the living room.
"Mommy..I did it...I walked and picked up my ball." Hugging her daughter tightly whispering into her ear "Princess I love you..."

Patricia realized that soon she will have to tell Sophie what happened. What she remembered anyway. She only wished it wasn't now. The two didn't really have tomorrow's so to speak. As there were no days. Time to them was unmoving, still and silent. Always the same... each and every silent sunset was just the same as the one before.
"Mommy, when is daddy coming home?

It was at this point that Patrica had to somehow explain to Sophia what she could remember. She remembered only that after their family portrait was painted Victor had work to do in the shed. It was not her place to ask questions but she trusted her husband. She and her daughter were not suppose to go into the shed. Victor kept it under lock and key. She had no idea what was in it.
"Well, sweetie soon...really really soon." "Mommy...that man....that man who was here looks like daddy."
"Yes.... yes he does in a way." Was Patricia only response.

Looking at their family portrait. Patrica loved her daughter and didn't have the strength to tell Sophie that something bad had happened. They were stuck here, Patricia just didn't know for how long it had been. Forever waiting for Victor's return.
All that Patricia could remember was this extremely bright light that filled every space in and around their home. After that flash of light which lasted no more than a second nothing was the same. Forever frozen in time. Davis having reached to local bar. Out of breath he called Stiles..."Hey man can you meet me here....yes....yes it's important....ok then.. I'll be here waiting....thanks man." "Hey pal....no shirt...no service...there's some spares in the back for people like you who think that they can go anywhere without wearing a shirt."

"Ok, fine."
"Hey bar tender...how about a round of those Green Neon's. So what's the all important deal?" Stiles asked Davis. "Hey Stiles, you know that old house the one you pass just before you get to mine..what's the deal with that house? I went in it and I swear it's haunted or something. There was this eerie music and the wind..and this ball came...."

"Hold on a second there Davis..slow down man, you're not making any sense at all."
Stiles listened to Davis's story about the house the ball bouncing down the stairs, the strange sounds. "It's just that....hey where can I get some info on the house...is it for sale...who used to live there...maybe I can buy it or something, you know fix it up...wait..something really odd happened to me while I was in there...it was like I had been there before, like I knew the place...." Davis continued to ramble on while Stiles tried to listen to his many questions. "Hey Davis..come on man..let me take you home. Tomorrow you can go to the Records building and see what you can find out about the house. I don't know much about it but it has been vacant for many years and there's no such thing as ghosts. It's just an old house that's falling apart...that's all. Come on Davis I'll give you a ride home." "Davis, you should get a good night's sleep and don't let the boogy man get you." Stiles couldn't resist the little jab. "Hey it's not funny Stiles..I'm serious." "Ok man sorry about that."

The ride home was silent, neither of them spoke. Davis was far away in his mind.

\:wacko\: I am an avid fan of scary stories and have torn through them since childhood. I must say this is fantastic!! \:wub\:  (Since I'm time-warping a little myself, and playing catch-up on stories I have missed, I'm so glad another chapter is up and ready to read.)

I totally missed the time warp aspect! \:o I'm not sure what exactly is going on but I think the mother-daughter characters are so cute and I love how you posed screenie 10. \:wub\: (Love the room and costumes too!) I can't wait to see how Davis fits in with this 'ghost?' family! Can't wait till the next chapter! \:rah\:
