They had more money than they were possibly able to spend.

They were a goodlooking family, and also very successful business owners. They had it all.

Chapter 1:

The Stalinsky Family were the envy of many in the small Pennsylvanian suburb of East Calderwood.

Their home was beautiful, outside and in, it boasted a heated indoor swimming pool, gym, home cinema and all matter of luxuries.

They had more money than they were possibly able to spend.

They were a goodlooking family, and also very successful business owners. They had it all.
Murphy and Grace Stalinsky were both gourmet chef's, and incidently two very genuine and kind people. They owned the ever-popular Stalinsky's franchise; a sea of posh restaurants that cropped up in every upperclass urban neighborhood around town.

Not only where they married to eachother but they were able to work together. Most couple's would find themselves arguing and frustrated at one another in such an arrangement, but not these two.

They had been highschool sweethearts, and almost two decades later their marriage was solid. Other people around them could only wish they had that type of relationship with their spouse.
There were two children in the Stalinksy family; one boy and one girl, a pigeon pair, and what some would call the ''ideal'' family.

The only daughter and the youngest of the two, Autumn, was a bright and pleasant child. She looked out for her classmates and was well-liked by her peers. She was a popular little girl with a big heart.
But in any seemingly perfect situation, there is usually a catch.

The catch here being Lennon.

The perfect scourge on the perfect family; he was loud, rude, shallow, and often cruel.

Despite his downfalls, his peers followed him. They admired his 'bad boy' image, his flippant attitude, his good looks and the presence he brought into a room. For reasons not logical, people looked up to him.

He was the kid they all wanted to be seen with, and he knew it.

He laughed at others until he was bent in two, he wouldn't be satisfied until the person who was the topic of his joke was left shamed and humiliated. He argued with his classmates relentlessly, always convinced he was right and that everyone else was stupid. He wrongly believed himself to be brighter than others and patronized anyone with a differing opinion. He did his utmost to gross people out and seek their attention in any way possible. Lennon was at his happiest when being noticed, whether for positive or negative actions, he didn't mind- any attention was good.

He wanted it to be all about him, all the time.
And attention he got, particularly from the girls, and one in particular.

Zara Callaghan knew his boorish, horrible ways, but she pretended not to notice. She also saw the good in him, a side that most people never got to see.

When he was around her he dropped his bravado and revealed the kinder side of himself.
Yes, around Zara he was a completely different person. He adored her, and she him.The pair were besotted with eachother.

She was the only person in his life who he treated with any respect.

But for how long would her loyalty last? She saw how he treated others, and she was growing tired of pretending not to notice. She had to admit it; it bothered her.
The day that would change Lennon's outlook on life forever began like any other day.

He worked out for an hour before school. Had a shower, sang along to his favorite rock songs.
Of course he checked himself out in the mirror, as he always did, he loved to admire himself.

He then grabbed breakfast and set of to his first class; History.
"So today guys and girls, we're still on the topic of the homo species. Let's go back to homo neanderthalensis, better known simply as the neanderthal. We may think of them as being brute, rough blockheads, but do any of us know what they were really like?...." "Cherith Farr! Late again! This is becoming all too frequent Cherith...." "Hey Carter, dude, listen up, I'm gonna make a funny...watch this" "I do, Mr Singh! I know what Neanderthals are like! Look no further than Cherith here. Hey it looks like she hasn't brushed her hair yet again, total cavewoman if you ask me....and she's still wearing yesterdays clothes!" "You....you......eugh!!" "That's it! I'm outta here, I can't stand him anymore! I don't want to be in the same room as that clown for a minute longer!!" Pleased with himself, smug, like the cat who got the cream, Lennon is blissfully unaware of his girlfriends growing distain behind him. Eyes that once looked at him with adoration now look at him with pure disgust. And who could blame her?

This was the straw that broke the camel's back.

She had made excuses for him all the times her Mother had made him dinner and he never once said thanks, she had defended him when her Father had insisted that he wasn't good enough for her, she had shrugged it off when her grandparents lamented over the youth of today, using his bad attitude as a perfect example.

But not now. Now she'd reached the end of her tether.
Then in a move that shocked the class, particularly Lennon, Zara stood up and made her way to the door too.

"I'll go see if she's alright, Mr Singh.........doesn't look like anyone else is going to"
There's an old saying that we all know that reads as follows- ''sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me''

What a lie.

Cherith Farr knew that all too well.
"Cherith?.....Come out here..........please, I know you're in there, I can here you crying

C'mon, open the door."
Cherith eventually emerges, nervously, why would the girlfriend of her tormenter be waiting to check she's okay? She wasn't used to kind actions, ever since her Kindergarten days she'd been the topic of her peers cruel mocking and their hurtful taunts.

"Zara. He really hurts me, his words are so harsh, every day I dread seeing him in the hall, in the classroom, on the bus" she finally reveals.
"....And I know he's your boyfriend...but he's a vindictive, mean, horrid piece of work!"

Her words hit Zara like a bolt of lightning. She knew it was true. Deep down, she knew it.

Her boyfriend was indeed all these things. It left her questioning their future and asking herself what she ever saw in him. Perhaps her Father was right, Lennon wasn't good enough for her.
After a long chat Cherith is finally able to compose herself.

"I know we could hardly describe ourselves as friends, Zara, but it's obvious you have a good heart. You could date any guy you wanted, why him? He's a loser, surely you can see that. The best thing you could do for yourself is get rid of him, he's like a bad smell, like a rotten old skunk. You're too good for him........everyone thinks so, they don't say it, but I know they think it.."

That was the final nail in the coffin. Cherith was correct.

Zara had finally woken up to what had been brewing for a long time, right there in the ladies room she came to her senses; Lennon was a coward who enjoyed making other people miserable, that was all there was to it, no excuses, not anymore.
After the lesson the pair unite in the hallway, Zara has something important to say.

"Lennon, I'm going to make this quick. And I know it's gonna take you by surprise, it's taken me by surprise that I'm even saying this, but you and me, we're over.

I can't sit idly by anymore while you reduce people to tears just for the fun of it. It's over. I'm sorry..."
"Phhhh!! You're dumping ME, Zara? Well....well....well uh that's not gonna happen cause I just came here to dump you first!

Yeah, you hear that? You're dumped!

Heh. I'm over you already. Zara who?"

Astounded, Lennon lies in order to save face. How could this be happening? The love of his life was so repulsed by him that she didn't want anything more to do with him. Was he really not a good person?

It hurt him, deeply, just like he'd hurt everyone else. Yes, he'd finally been given a taste of his own medicine and he sure didn't like it.

Is there any hope for Lennon? Or are things about to get unbelievably worse?

Read Chapter 2 to find out! Thank you for reading.
