Here is part two of College Life. Don't forget to read the first part of it. (:
I hope you enjoy it. (:
I woke up at exactly 7:00 this morning, with no tampering of my clock from Izzy. That was only because I locked my dorm room door last night, so she couldn't. I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth, before taking a quick shower. I don't know why I always take showers before I go for a run, but I do. It's kind of like a force of habit, I've done it since I was a teenager, just to come back home and take another one. I hopped out of the shower, dressed myself into my gym clothes, and jogged to the park. Once I got to the park, I felt rejuvenated. I've always been one with nature, but being at the Campus Park always made it even better. I don't know what exactly it is that I like about this park, it could be it's emptiness, it could be the way it makes me feel. Whatever it is, it always kept me coming back for more. I kept running and running, thinking about Tim and what he said to me about my new job.

Smelly horses and raggedy people. The same sentence ran through my mind about a hundred times since he said it. If he thought that way about a farm, what does he think about me? I grew up in the rural part of Riverblossom Hills. My mom was raised on a farm and my father worked on a farm since he was a teenager. That is how they met, after all. I mean, if he thinks horses are smelly, and the people who take care of them are raggedy, what exactly are his thoughts of me? I never thought I would have to ask myself this until last night.

I suddenly heard someone yelling my name, and it interrupted my thoughts completely.
I turned around to see Paisley Gilbert, popular girl ever since middle school, running with her friend and fellow Greek House member, Carmen.

"Mia! Oh, Mia!" she yelled. She ran up to me in her overpriced running outfit and jerked my hand to shake it. "Oh, I have just missed you so much!" Yeah, right. "How long has it been, exactly?"

"It's only been a few months," I replied. "Matter of fact, you're in one of my classes here at Uni."

"Oh. I must not have seen you. You should have said something, I totes would have noticed you then." I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway, as you may know, the Greek House is having bid night this weekend, you should totes come! I'm sure all of the other girls would just love you. You've always had the prettiest face and the most plump lips out of everyone I've ever known."
I lifted my hand to touch my lips. Back in high school, she would always make fun of how big they were, everyone called me "fish lips." I've grown to love them ever since I entered college, but it still hits close to home when someone brings up something about them.

"Don't worry, having plump lips is a good thing. Hello, Adriana Lima?" Carmen smiled. Paisley nodded.

"Anyway, I really hope that I see you there, Mia." Paisley exclaimed, clinging to me tightly before starting to jog off.
I watched them jog off as I weighed the possibilities of joining a sorority. Having a 'big sister,' and other 'sisters' instead of just Izzy and my mother, could be nice. I've always wanted a sister, and eight years ago when my mother told me she was pregnant, I hoped it was a girl. Unfortunately, it wasn't, but I still love my little brother just as much. Maybe joining a sorority could give me what I've always wanted.

"Friends of yours?" I heard a raspy voice say.
I turned around to see the guy from yesterday. I can't believe I still don't know his name.

"Not exactly," I smiled, "she wants me to join her Sorority."

"You should do it," he replied. "I'd love the chance to see you in a bikini or a toga dress every once in a while."

We both laughed. "I'm going to think about it."
"So, um, are you free tonight? I was kind of looking for a study partner for that assignment Professor James gave us, and Baylee has things to do back at home."

Baylee must be the pretty girl he was with the other day. His girlfriend.
"Well, I have to go to work around three, but I should be free around seven or eight. We can meet up at The Lounge on 75th."

"Good." He said, "I'll see you, tonight."

Before he could walk away, I had to know his name.

"Hey, what's your name? I don't believe you ever told me."

"Cody," he smiled.

"Cody. Got it."
"I'll see you tonight, Cody." I waved as he ran off. I thought about Tim. What would he think about this? About me going out with a guy at night. I mean, we're just studying. It's not like he doesn't study with girls. I mean, he lives in a co-ed dorm and I don't have a problem with it. Plus, he doesn't even have to know about it. I smiled and finished my jog all the way back to the dorm. I walked up to the door of the big yellow house on the farm I had to start work at. I basked in the beauty of it. I had never seen something more beautiful in my life. I knocked on the door, and the couple answered quickly.

"You must be Mia. I'm Madison, and this is my husband Patrick. You're quite early, don't you think?"

"I like to be early for everything. Better to be early than to be late." I replied.

"I knew there was a reason why I liked her," Patrick said to his wife.

"Your work uniform is in the bathroom, if you don't mind going to go switch into it. I wouldn't mind you wearing your regular clothes, but I find that you might not like it if you went back to your dorm smelling of horse manure." Madison explained.

I nodded. "The bathroom is the first door to your left after you go through the kitchen and dining room."
I walked through the big house, to the bathroom where an Equestrian style outfit sat on the counter. I changed quickly and admired myself in the mirror. I saw something change when I put on this outfit. Something that I never really saw in myself before. I smiled, and walked back outside. Madison and Patrick were waiting for me on the porch.

Patrick turned around as soon as I walked outside.

"You look great, honey. I knew she'd look great in that outfit!" Madison beamed. I blushed.

"Alright, alright, you were right," Patrick replied, sounding defeated.

"I went out and bought that outfit just for you. He told me it wouldn't look good on anyone. Man was he wrong!" She exclaimed.

Patrick playfully rolled his eyes. "It's time for you to meet the horses," he said.
We walked out to the barn, Patrick leading the way. He walked into the barn and walked right over to the first horse.

"This here is Acer. We're currently trying to re-home him, but seeing as how he's an old and retired race horse, no one seems to want to adopt him. He's not to rowdy, I think you'll like working with him."
We walked over to the next stable, that held a beautiful white horse.

"This is Yellow Sky. He's my oldest daughter's horse. She's away for a while, and she doesn't get to see him as much as she used to. He's used to having someone with him almost all of the time, so he might be a little bit pushy at times. Don't worry, all he wants is some extra attention."

I nodded and smiled.
"This here is Echo. She's Saoirse's horse. Now, you already know that the reason why we need you to work here is because Saoirse has been acting out. Once she sees you with Echo, she'll get jealous and probably come out here to help you, so don't think you'll be doing this all on your own. Saoirse loves Echo more than anything in the world, she'd hate to see her take a liking to someone else." "This here is my wife's horse, Midnight Galaxy. He's the oldest horse here, so he's pretty slow when it comes to everything. You have to make sure to be patient with him." "This is Rain Dancer, she doesn't live here. We're taking care of her and her foul for a neighbor who didn't have enough room for another horse. Once the foul is weened off of her mom, Rain Dancer will go back home and we'll find a home for the little one. You don't have to worry much about taking care of these two, Kellie comes over every day to make sure they're taken care of. She loves this horse just as much as Saoirse loves her horse." He smiled, "A woman's' love for her horse should never be taken for granted."

I smiled, agreeing with the last line. My mom used to say the same thing when I was a kid.
"Now, we have two horses outside that you can meet." We walked outside over to the horse pin and he walked over to the first horse.

"This is Napoleon. He likes to eat, go for long walks on the farm and give love to anyone near. You'll probably end up falling in love with this one here, he's definitely a charmer."

I laughed as Patrick dug in his pocket to pick out a tiny carrot and feed it to Napoleon.
"Last, but certainly not least, this is Webster. He's my horse. He may be a little bit old, but he still loves his exercise. He's definitely a handful, out of all of the horses here, he's a bit rowdy. You don't have to do anything for him until you get to know him a bit better, he doesn't really do well with strangers. He'll warm up to you, sooner or later."

"I hope you know this job is very challenging, and with you being in college and all, it could come to be too much for you. If you ever need a day, or even a week off, you can take it. I just want to make sure that when you're here, you're here and not somewhere else. The horses know when you're not completely paying attention to them, and trust me, they don't like it."

"I'm totally ready for this. My classes don't run very long and they're all quite easy so far. I need this job. I want this job."

"Well, then we need and want you to have this job," he smiled. "I'll be right back, I'm going to go fetch the tools you'll be needing."

He walked all the way back to the barn, and came back less than a minute later.
"This is what you'll use to clean out the stalls. You'll need to fill the bucket over there by the barn every day all the way up so that the horses don't get thirsty. You'll feed the horses with the bucket next to their food in the barn, and when you bring them outside, you'll need to make sure that they get enough exercise and socialization with each other. I can't say I'm going to let you ride, yet, 'cause I reckon you're a beginner, so if you need riding lessons, my wife Madison can teach you. I'm sure she'd love to."

I nodded along with him.
"Now, you can go ahead and get started. I'll help you bring all of the horses outside so that you can clean the stalls, alright?"

"Okay." I smiled as we walked back to the barn to gather the horses outside.
The first one that I took outside was Acer. He was gentle and calm, where as when Patrick took Yellow Sky he got a bit too happy. He was right about the attention thing. He'll probably do anything just to get it, too. I smiled, noticing that the horses have that kind of effect on me.

"Come on, big guy," I whispered to Acer.
Once all of the horses were finally outside, I cleaned their stalls and filled their food buckets. When I was done, after about an hour (or two) I brought them all back into the barn. They were definitely worn out, especially Midnight Galaxy. He went to sleep as soon as I brought him back to his stall.

Poor guy, I thought.

Tim's words ran through my mind, once again.

Smelly horses and raggedy people.

He couldn't have been more wrong.
"What is the capitol of Simdeenum?" I read aloud. "Beats me," Cody replied. "I don't get why I have to take this class, anyway."

"Well, what are you majoring in?"

"Well, there's your answer. You need history for Philosophy, right?"

"You're a smart one, Mia," he winked. "Kalul. The capitol of Simdeenum is Kalul."

I laughed and shook my head.
"What are you majoring in, Ms. Weston?" he asked me.

"Literature. I want to be an Author."

"See, you really are smart." I rolled my eyes. "You'll make it far one day, I can see it."

"You're the first person to actually tell me that. My parents think I should get a real job, and Tim.. Well, Tim is Tim. He doesn't think anything is possible unless it has something to do with him."

"No offense, but Tim sounds kind of like a jerk."

I nodded. I didn't want to believe that it was true, but deep down I knew it was.

"Does your girlfriend support what you want to do?" I asked.
He looked up. "Girlfriend? I don't have a girlfriend."

"But, I thought the girl at the Cafe was your girlfriend?"

"Who, Baylee? Baylee is my sister, not my girlfriend."

I blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed. How could I not have noticed a resemblance?

"Don't worry, everyone always gets the wrong idea between us two. Nothing to be embarrassed about."

I smiled. For some odd reason, even thought I'm with Timothy, I felt better now that I know he doesn't have a girlfriend.
