I hope you all enjoy Chapter 8!

Okay, so we've been with each other long enough to know I suck at deadlines. This was supposed to have been out, I knowww!

I hope you all enjoy Chapter 8!
Today was the day Joanna had to present her songs to the Miranda and the label executives to be selected for her EP. She hoped they liked all of them. She knew they would only pick 6, but if they liked them all, then maybe whenever she recorded her actual album, they would still be a favorite and make the track list. They met at Miranda’s office. Joanna was nervous. She hadn’t performed a song for an audience since the open call, and these were important people, they would be picking her songs for her to present to the world.

“Thank you for coming today. Joanna has been working for little over a month to write the songs she will be presenting for you today.” Miranda said to the very serious looking man and woman dressed in suits sitting on either side. “We’ll decide on which to include on the EP after she’s finished. Go ahead Joanna.”
She cleared her throat and began her first song.

“Living is easy with eyes closed,
Misunderstanding all you see,
It’s getting hard to be someone,
But it all works out...
It doesn’t matter much to me.

Let me take you down,
Cuz I’m going to,
Strawberry Fields…
Nothing is real…”

The executives made no facial expressions. She couldn’t tell if they like the songs or not. She looked to Miranda, who gave no idea of whether she liked it either, but she was used to that. She just took her cue and sang her next song. “There's nothing you can make that can't me made,
No one you can save that can't be saved,
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time,
It's easy…

All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need”

Again, they all sat stone faced, taking notes. She was getting more and more nervous with every song. 8 songs later, Joanna was finished. She put her guitar away and stood nervously in front of Miranda and the three serious looking business men. Minutes passed like hours and no one spoke.

“Okay Joanna, great job. You can go now. I’ll call you in a few days.” Miranda said finally, dismissing her.

She thanked her small audience again and quickly scurried off.
She went over to Adonis’ home, hoping he was there. She hadn’t seen him weeks and she had had enough. Surely he wasn’t in the studio today if Miranda was in her office.

He was in fact home, and his face lit up as soon as he answered the door, “Jo! How did the track presentation go? Did they like your songs?” he kissed her quickly and ushered her into the house.
“I don’t know,” she said nervously, “nobody gave me any feedback. The executives didn’t even look like they were listening.”

Adonis wrapped his arm around her, “Oh that’s how they always are. I know they’ll love them all. I can’t wait to hear you record them.”
Joanna sighed and pressed herself to Adonis. She missed being in his arms, it seemed like forever since they’ve seen each other. “How’s your new album coming along? You almost finished?” she asked with her eyes closed. She finally felt relaxed.

“Yeah, we just have a few more tracks to do. I have another gig next month, then uh, I gear up for my tour.” He finished nervously.
Joanna snapped up and looked at Adonis like he was insane, “A tour? Next month? Really?!” she asked him. He gave her a nervous chuckle and an apologetic smile.

“Yeah, I have to promote my new album. I’m a musician, Jo. It’s part of the job.” He tried to calm her down.

“But I haven’t seen you in forever! Now you’re telling me next month you’re leaving?” she was upset, she knew she shouldn’t be, but she was.
“You aren’t the only one who makes music, Joanna. I have to do my thing too. I’ll be gone for 3 months, it’s a local tour, I’m going with the winner of the open call, some acrobat is opening up for me…” he looked at Joanna’s sad face and pulled her in for a kiss, “You’ll be fine, babe. You’ll start recording next month, before you know it I’ll be home and you’ll be too busy for me. Pretty soon you’ll be planning your own tour, just watch.” Joanna pouted as she followed Adonis to the couch. She knew he was right. She should just enjoy their time together before he left and stop complaining. 3 months really wasn’t that long, she had won the contest almost 5 months ago, and it felt like just yesterday she was dragging herself to the open call. Joanna’s next few days were filled with magazine interviews. She had no idea so many people were interested in her. Her song had gotten her more attention than she had realized. She was on her fourth interview of the day; it was Shore’s Spotlight, an entertainment magazine.

Joanna was so tired; she just wanted to go home and go to sleep. She tried her hardest to smile and answer the same questions she had been asked all day. The interviewer was nice enough, she looked happy to even have a moment with her.
“Thank you for seeing me today, Ms. McFadden, I’m sure you had a long day.” The young woman said with a smile.

Joanna returned one of her own, “No problem! How are you today?”

“I’m well, thank you, and yourself?”

“Couldn’t be happier.” Joanna smiled again.

“Well that’s good to hear. Let’s get started shall we? I’m sure everyone knows the amazing story of how you came to fame, but we’ve never heard your side after all these months, care to let our readers in?”
Joanna actually liked telling the story. She never missed a moment to talk about her best friend and how she told her about the open call on a day she had been rejected yet again for another gig. She talked about her amazement at how she had won over all the singers, and how she had just known she was going to lose. “Wow, that’s quite a story! You’ve definitely come a long way since then. Hard to believe you were turned down so many times, you have an amazing voice. Your single is all over the radio!” the report gushed. Joanna smiled, she loved hearing feedback.

“Well, I’m just happy to be able to get a chance to let the world hear my music. It’s been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl.”
“And speaking of dreams, how are you and your boyfriend, Adonis Alexander? You guys have been seen out on the town all over the place. Is it getting serious?” the reporter asked her.

Surprisingly, no other report had asked her that today. Joanna didn't know what to say.
To be perfectly honest, she didn’t even know the answer. Adonis never really made their relationship official, so she wasn’t technically his girlfriend. She had just fallen into the pattern they had of going out on dates and hanging out in between. He had never said they were exclusive, but he hadn’t been out with anyone else as far as she knew. The thought kind of upset her. Joanna looked up at Miranda, who shook her head no. That topic was off limits as of right now.

She gave the reporter a nervous laugh and pushed strand of hair behind her ear, “Well, I can’t really say much on that. Me and Adonis are very good friends, he’s an amazing artist. I love his music.”

The reporter smiled and nodded as she continued on with her questioning.
An hour and a half later, Joanna was home and climbing into bed. The question about Adonis had really stuck with her, but she decided not to bring it up.

If he wanted to talk about it, he would. If they hadn’t broached the subject by the time his tour was over, she would.
“Great work Donny. This tour is going to be great. Two more weeks and we’re off. You ready for the gig tonight?” Miranda asked as she and Adonis. He had finished recording and was relaxing before sound check in two hours.

He smiled and nodded, “Yep, I’m all ready to go. I’m excited for tonight.”
Miranda sat down and put a folder down in front of him on his coffee table. He looked at the open folder then back at his manager.

“What’s this?” he picked it up and flipped through the pages, “Is this some sorta song book?”

Miranda nodded, “Yep, it’s just copies. These are the song lyrics to all the songs Joanna played for me and the guys for the track listing. We’ve already picked the 6 we’re going to use. I want you to sing the other 2.”
Adonis put the folder back and looked at Miranda like she had lost her mind, “What?! I can’t steal her music Ran! These are her songs!”

Miranda made a face at him, “Technically, yeah. But once she signs with us they’ll be the labels songs. We’ll own the rights, and I can do with them as I please, and what I please is for you to record and sing these on tour.”

He didn’t like the idea of singing Joanna’s songs, “Well, did you at least let her know what you were planning? I’d feel better if she knew.”
She rolled her eyes, “I don’t have to ask her anything. Look, the songs need to be mastered before we take off, so that means we need to start tomorrow in the studio. If I want Jo to know I’ll let her know. Just do what’s asked of you. They’re good songs! Just use that amazing voice and sing them. Your fans will love them. Joanna’s a talented girl, she’ll write more songs. She’ll understand.” "Tomorrow Donny! 9 sharp!" With that, she got up and let herself out. Adonis was worried, he really cared about Joanna, and he really wanted to tell her what Miranda was planning. Miranda was his manager; he had to listen to her. But he knew if he didn’t tell Joanna, it would cause problems when he came home.

Miranda did have a point though, Joanna was talented, and she could write hundreds of more songs. He sighed, looked at the folder, and went to shower and get ready for his gig. He didn’t know what to do.
What is Adonis going to do? What do you think?

I hope you all liked this chapter. I have my game up and running now, so as soon as I click 'Submit' I'll start shooting Chapter 9. I won't let you guys down this time lol

Bye!

This was beautiful. I'm starting to get the sneaking suspicion Adonis is cheating on her. I think Adonis WON'T steal Jo's songs because even if he is cheating he cares.

I believe that Miranda is trying to start trouble between Adonis &Joanna
