Tada! Chapter 9!

This is one of my favorite chapters, all the good stuff is about to happen guys!

As always, thank you to all the CC creators, and especially you readers!

Okay, enjoy!
Sound check was done; it was time for Adonis to focus on his gig. He pushed the thought of Joanna’s book and Miranda’s orders. The only thing he wanted to think about was performing. Joanna and Tessa were one of the first people at the venue to watch Adonis play. Joanna was always excited to see Adonis sing. His voice was amazing and he always put on a good show. Adonis walked out onto the stage and heard the crowd explode with applause. This is why he did what he did, for his fans. He blew a kiss to Joanna and the crowd went wild. She blushed and blew one back. “Thank y’all for coming out tonight! Tonight is my last show in the Shore for the next 3 months…” he heard the crowd “aww” and “boo”; they didn’t want him to leave.

He laughed, “Settle down, settle down. I’ll be back! I’m going on tour, so after tonight go on home and buy your tickets! Now let’s get into it!” The audiences erupted once again as Adonis began to play.
The show was over and the audience was gone. Only Adonis and Joanna remained in the parking lot of the venue. She kissed him softly, “Great job tonight. Your tour is gonna be amazing.” She said smiling.

Adonis felt guilty; he really wanted to tell Joanna the truth about what Miranda was up to, but he didn’t want to hurt her. He also didn’t want to face Miranda’s wrath if he did.
He sighed, “Thanks babe. I’m really tired, I’m gonna head home. Thank you for coming tonight.”

“You’re welcome. Call me later tomorrow?”
He looked at her; tomorrow he would be busy singing her songs to perform on tour as his own. But he couldn’t tell her that. Instead he nodded and kissed her again before heading to his car and going home.
“Oh! It sounds perfect!” Miranda proclaimed excitedly, “You sound amazing Donny. Fans are gonna go crazy when they hear this.”

Adonis sighed and walked out of the booth, “Yeah, whatever Miranda.”

His manager huffed, “Will you stop with all the mopey stuff already? Joanna should be honored that somebody like you even wants to sing her songs! If you don’t, nobody will ever hear them! If we put them on your concert album, we’ll give her writers credit or something.” She said off-handedly.
That made Adonis feel a little better, but not enough. “I still want to tell her.”

“Why! She won’t even know until after the tour is over. By then she’ll been too busy to worry about some silly songs she isn’t going to even record.” Miranda reasoned.

She was making a point. Joanna would be recording her EP, and the songs he recorded weren’t making it on. They were good songs, the public should hear them. And she would be getting writers credit and everything. “…Fine Ran. I just don’t want this to blow up in my face.”
Miranda scoffed, “You really do like her, don’t you?”

“Yeah, Miranda. I do really like her.” He stated. He took a drink of water and went back into the booth.
It was the night before Adonis was to leave for his tour, and Joanna was over his house cooking dinner.

“This is amazing, babe. I had no idea you knew how to cook.” He complimented with his mouth full.

She giggled, “Thank you. I know a little thing or two about a kitchen. We always go out, I never get a chance to show you!”

“Well, when I get back, there’s going to be a lot more of this and a lot less Bistro and Francs’.” He laughed as he scooped another forkful in his mouth.
Dinner was finished, and the couple was lying in bed. Joanna kissed Adonis’ chest.
“I’m really gonna miss you while you’re gone.” She said softly.

He sighed, “Yeah, I know. I’m gonna miss you too.”

“I mean, I know it’s not a long tour, but I feel like since I’ve met you, we’ve always seen each other. It’ll just be weird I guess.”

He chuckled, causing Joanna’s body to shake, “Yeah, I know what you mean. But I’ll call you after every show and tell you how I did.”

“Yeah, I know you’ll do great. Every song you sing is amazing. I wish I could be there for every show.”
Joanna fell asleep soundly next to Adonis. He could barely sleep; he hoped he was doing the right thing. Joanna would understand in the end. The music business isn’t a game, things had to be done that they didn’t always agree with, but their careers were always better for it. It had been a busy month. Miranda was gone, but left DeClan, her assistant, to pick up where she left off. She had more interviews, more photo shoots, more recording sessions. She barely had time to think... She did have time to buy herself a new car; she was tired of getting rides so she wouldn’t be photographed in her junker. And the girls had finally decided on a puppy to buy. They named her Autumn in honor of the changing season. They were absolutely in love. Joanna missed Adonis every day, especially with it starting to get colder. She missed having someone warm to sleep next to.

She texted and called whenever she could. She couldn’t wait for the tour to be over so they could be together again.
“Honey I’m homeeee!” Tessa said cheerfully as she walked into the loft. Tessa was much happier since quitting the coffee shop a month ago. She was hired by the boutique they had went to for the debut party; they loved her sense of style and just had to have her.

“Hey Tess.” Joanna laughed, she had been relaxing on her first day off in two weeks. Recording for the EP was much different than recording her single for the contest. She was in the studio from sun up to sun down. She barely had a chance to talk to Tessa or even call Adonis.
“I have a surprise for you my dear.” Tessa said with a big smile.

“A surprise? Really?” Joanna was growing excited, “What kind of surprise?”
“The kind of surprise that will make you love me way more than you have before for. I’m tired of hearing you walk around here sighing because you miss Donny-Boy. Sooo I talked to my sister in Bridgeport, she told me they’re live streaming Adonis’ concert tonight to raise money for the venue they’re holding it at. Apparently it’s losing its touch, and everybody who couldn’t get a ticket can pay the ticket price to watch it online! I bought our access code this morning at the boutique.” Joanna’s face lit up. In the past month, she had spoken to Adonis only a handful of times. She really missed him, and she had no way of talking or seeing him at all between her recording schedule and his concert and press schedule. She reached over to her best friend and hugged her tightly, “Oh Tess, that’s so sweet of you!”

“Yeah, yeah, I know.” She said with a laugh. “The concert starts at 8, we’ve got some time. I’ll have the internet set up on the gaming system by then.”
Joanna went to call Adonis and let him know the good news. She was excited; watching him live was one of her favorite things to do. And she was anxious to hear a few of his new songs.

“This is Adonis, leave it here.” His voicemail stated. He hadn’t answered.

“Hey babe, just calling to see what you were doing. I guess you’re getting ready for the show. Have a good one. Muuuah!” she hung up the phone.
8 o clock came quickly, and the girls were ready for the show.

“You excited?” Tessa asked as she came and sat down next to her best friend.

Joanna nodded, “You know, before the contest, I had never been to an Adonis Alexander concert. Now that we’re together, I seem to be front row at every single one!”

The girls laughed and watched as Adonis stepped out on stage and excited the crowd.
“What’s up Bridgeport!!!” he screamed. The audience went crazy with screams and applause. “Thank you guys for having me here tonight! Bridgeport is one of my favorite places to party! You guys know how to get down!” the audience somehow became louder. They loved him. “I’m gonna give y’all a good show tonight. You guys ready?” the crowd cheered, “Nahhh, I don’t think I can hear you. I said ARE YOU GUYS READY BRIDGEPORT?!” The thousands of people surrounding him became the loudest they could get, satisfying Adonis. He laughed, “Alright then, let’s go!” They girls sang along in the living room to all of Adonis Alexander’s hits. They loved his music just like everyone else did. He really knew how to put on a show for his fans. “Okay everyone, I’m gonna perform something new I’ve been working on. It’s not on the new album, this is something brand new. I hope you guys like it.” He strummed the first few notes as the audience cheered.

Joanna stopped singing suddenly. Those notes sounded familiar. Tessa looked at her friend.

“You okay? What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Shhh. I wanna hear this.” Joanna said quietly. She leaned towards the tv...

“She's well acquainted
with the touch of the velvet hand,
Like a lizard on a window pane…
The man in the crowd with the
multicolored mirrors on his hobnail boots..”

Happiness Is A Warm Gun - The Beatles
Her eyes went wide. There was no way. How?

Tessa sat down next to her best friend, worried. “Are you okay Joanna? Tell me what’s wrong!”

Joanna couldn’t tear her eyes away from Adonis as he sang the next verse. Her verse.
“Lying with his eyes
While his hands are busy working overtime
A soap impression of his wife
Which he ate and donated to the National Trust…”

The crowd swayed and clapped along to the music. Adonis sang the rest of the song, and finished with a smile. The crowd lost it; they screamed and whistled and cheered. Joanna couldn’t move. Tessa was still waiting for a response.
“Joanna, PLEASE tell me what’s wrong. Was it the song? You didn’t like the song?” she tried to guess.

Joanna shook her head, “The song is great.” She said flatly.

“Then what’s the problem?” she asked.

“…It’s my song. I wrote it over a month and a half ago.”
That's it for this chapter!!

Poor Joanna! That would hurt so bad. This was really good. I read every word of every chapter so far. If you aren't a writer IRL, you should be. Very good work! \:\)

He should have told her! Even if he didn't, he shouldn't have said it was a song he'd been working on! I'm awaiting the flip out. Great chapter!! \:rah\:
