Talia looked down at the magazine that held her interview. She couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy about seeing herself, just posing like that. She never liked the pictures they put of her in magazines, sort of like how nobody liked a picture of themselves. They all looked just so unnatural. Most of the pictures weren’t horrendous, like she had thought they would be. They had put in pictures of her when she was just a kid though, acting in her first movie, Moondance. They put another picture of her in when she was a teenager, when she was on the TV show The Robinsons, when she had played Becca Harding, the Robinson’s daughter’s best friend, and future romantic interest for their son. Then they scattered pictures of her from the past few years, at premiers and with old boyfriends. The one question they insisted she answer was what she did as a hobby, which was something she didn’t want to answer under any circumstance. Talia enjoyed the fact that the public saw one side of her, and didn’t get to see the other side. They asked about her new movie, and if Brett Farson was her new lover, which she laughed off quite a lot. She then picked up another magazine she had noticed on the shelves, one with a picture of her in the margin of the cover ‘Talia Reed squashes pregnancy rumors with Oscar’s dress.’

She flipped to the page and laughed as she read the article, which had been dedicated a whole page. How they had enough information to score an entire page was beyond her. A big chunk had a few picture of her, when the paparazzi had called her pregnant, and then the picture from last night at the Oscars. It felt good to ruin a few paparazzi’s days.
Her phone buzzed next to her, she checked the caller ID and picked up, “Where were you today Bay! Nickelson let me watch him run test on his subjects. It was so freaking awesome.” Talia smiled as Kaitlin rambled on about brain stems and medullas and hypothalamuses and other brain parts that Talia wasn’t really interested in. Talia was more of a bone girl, not a brain girl like Kaitlin. She realized the phone had gone silent.
“So where were you?”
Talia hated lying, especially now that Kaitlin had deemed herself Talia’s best friend. “I wasn’t feeling too well.”

She heard a gasp on the other side of the line, “If you got me sick I’ll kill you!”
“Relax, it isn’t contagious.”
“Did you see Talia Reed’s interview. She is so down to earth it is amazing. And remember I told you she wasn’t pregnant, and you kept saying that she definitely was, well she isn’t. So suck it.”
“Goodbye Kaitlin.” Talia said.
“You just hate being wrong, don’t you?”
And Talia hung up.
Talia had been 21, and complete washed up. It wasn’t very often that 21 year olds were washed up, but Talia had been in show business for most of her life, just about as long as she could remember. She hadn't had the childhood she had wanted. And naturally she lashed out. After her publicist had paid off the press for the fifth time in a year she told Talia that maybe it was time to take up a hobby. Something that would take her mind away from work. Talia had thought it was ridiculous, she couldn’t go anywhere without being recognized, she couldn’t go to the gym in sweats and a t-shirt without being called a slob. She decided that science had always interested her, and started going to school online. It took a while, but she finally got her MD in human biology and she was starting to feel better. She had been driving when she first saw the Donovan Fraiser Institute for Science. As soon as she got home she had applied. She couldn’t use her real name, for obvious reasons. So she changed her name to Bailey O’Hannahn, a girl who had grown up in New York City as an only child. The story mirrored her own. The only thing she had changed was her name, and address, which was a PO Box in NY that got sent straight to her house in Hollywood. She had never imagined she would get the job. But there was yet another problem, which with the help of her manager, Jane, she was able to overcome. She could not go into an interview looking like Talia Reed because she was supposed to be Bailey. So she stole a very nice wig from a set of a movie she was doing, made her clothes look very un-Talia like and made sure she was as makeup-less as possible. Ever since she had got the job she had been living a double life. She loved it. She could be famous, and act, which was what she loved, but she could also pretend to be a normal person and have some privacy, which she also loved. Her phone buzzed again, this time it was her directors assistant, “What is it Claire?”
“Mr. McDonnell needs you on set at 2:30 tomorrow.” Claire was out of breath. She was a chunky girl and Talia had never seen her not running about like a headless chicken.
“I told Jenson I wasn’t free in the afternoon.” She said, more frustrated than anything. She didn’t want to miss work for this movie again.
“Not 2:30 in the afternoon.” Claire said, panting four times before continuing, “2:30 in the morning. And don’t forget when he says be on set he means he is shooting at 2:30 so be here at midnight.”
“What the hell scene are we doing that requires being on set in the middle of the night.”
“Scene 3,” deep breath, “First meeting of Alexa and Jake.” Deep breath. “We might also tackle the Savior scene.”
“Be there.” Talia hung up and quickly went to bed, setting her alarm clock for 11:30.
