Nick: Nellie I'm in love with you.
Nick leaned against the other side of the door to Nellie's bedroom. He sat on the floor with his forehead in his hands. Frustrated at himself for coming so strong to Nellie. Every reason why he wanted to not reveal his true feelings for her were coming true. He knew she was probably in the room packing her and Loni's things. Getting ready to storm out of his house any minute. He tried to listen but could not hear anything from the other side.

And then the door slowly opened. Nellie at first stood behind the door peeking from the side, she looked at the floor.
Nellie: Come in.
He did and she closed the door behind him. He walked closer to her.
Nellie: Did you mean it? What you said?
Nick nodded his head as he walked a little more closer to her.
Nellie: How do you know?
Nick: Nellie, when I am away from you, it feels like a piece of myself is missing. I've been in love with you for a long time and I never want to be with anyone else.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. Relieved that she was no longer running away from him, he lifted her up in the air. Still keeping his gaze on her.
She ran her fingers through his hair, stoking the side of his head. Their eyes didn't move from each other. It was as if they were both trapped in a trance from the other.
Nick: Are you upset with me?
Nellie: No. Deep down I kind of knew it. I just didn't want to admit to myself that we would be more than friends.
Nick: You don't know how long I've wanted you Nellie. How much I wanted us. I wanted to stop you the first time you left. I wanted to tell you how much you and Loni meant to me and to stay here. But you were so happy, and that's all I ever wanted for you.
Nellie didn't say anything. She just kept stroking his hair and the side of her face. She was absorbing all the words he was telling her. Each word made her body tingle.
Nellie: I can't remember ever feeling like this. No one has ever spoken so sweetly.
Nick: You deserve it. And I will say it every day if you want me to.
He began to lower her down towards him. Their eyes refused to unlock from each other. Although she had always seen Nick. It was as if she was looking at him for the first time. The shades had been lifted she was finally looking at him the same way he had always seen her. Their noses touched and then they stood cheek to cheek, saying nothing but letting their breaths speak instead. He placed one hand over her lower back and the other just under her arm. He wanted to make sure that whatever he did she was not going to move him. That this time, he was going to succeed. He was hungry for her. He leaned forward and kissed her slowly. No longer afraid to touch her. She returned his touch and invited him to kiss her deeper. The tension that had been building up between them had released. Within minutes they were both on the floor of the room. He had laid her down on the rug. He was so anxious just to finally be with her, they couldn't make it to the bed that was just feet away. They busy enjoying each other and the moment of being with each other. His touch brought more warm sensations through her body. The heat from her burned through him as they continued. Afterwards, the two of them had finally made it to her bed where they rested next to each other taking a moment to relax. He turned to her and caressed the side of her face as she rested sweetly next to him. She was finally his he thought to himself. She couldn't help but laugh when she opened her eyes and saw him looking back at her.
Nellie: I thought I dreamed the whole thing.
Nick: If it is a dream then I don't want to wake up from this. Just let me keep this time, this moment with you.
She wrapped her arm around him again and brought him back to her lips.
Nellie: Again.
He pulled the covers over them and she laughed once more as his hands tickled her skin. There were several times more that the two of them continued their woohooing. By now it was later in the afternoon when both of them decided to get out of bed and see the sun.
Nellie: I think I hear Ms. Carol and Loni downstairs. We'd better join them before they think something is up.
Nick groaned at the thought of getting up. He placed the covers over his face.
It was past noon when Nick and Nellie came downstairs. Laughing like two mischievous teenagers. They joined Ms. Carol and Loni at the kitchen table. The two of them were already eating burgers.
Ms. Carol: Good afternoon.(she gave a small nudge to Nick)
Loni: I was just telling Ms. Carol about my sleepover at Hannah's. It was a BLAST!
Loni: I wanted to tell you mommy when I came home but Ms. Carol told me not to disturb you. She said you and Nick would be tired from this morning.
Ms. Carol nearly choked on her burger.
Nick: Well we did have a long night of having fun. I mean having fun at the party.
Nellie couldn't help but laugh. But Loni was still a little confused about what was funny.
Ms. Carol: Well why don't the three of you go to the park. I told Loni I would take her but I think she would have more fun with the two of you.
Loni: Oh boy! Can we mommy?
Nellie was busy smiling to herself but managed to agree to take Loni to the park.
As soon as they arrived, Loni ran to her favorite ride. Nellie and Nick went to the swings to watch Loni play.
Nick: I just love watching her play. She smiles and laugh just like you.
Loni waved at the both of them with her free hand. They smiled and waved back.
Nick: So when do you want to tell her about us.
Nellie: About us? I don't even know about us.
Nick: What was all that last night, and this morning, and this afternoon?
Nellie: One of the best times I've ever experienced. But until we have figured out us I don't think this is something we should just shout out to the world.
Nick: Well I guess you can be right some times. She has been used to it just being you and her for most of her life. And now adding another person all of a sudden may be a bit much for her right now. In the meantime, you want to meet me behind the monkey bars for a bit more of..... Nellie pierced her eyes at him.
Nick gave a laugh.
Nick: Just kidding!
Nellie smiled back at him.
Nellie: Yeah okay.
He gave her an exaggerated wink and she giggled at his boyish gesture.
They hadn't noticed that Loni was watching them until she walked a little closer and they could hear her footsteps onto the woodchips.
Loni: Can I swing Nick?
Nick: Well of course ladybug. Hop on!
She ran over to them and jumped on the swing that Nick was on.
Loni: Push me HIGH Nick!!
Nick: You got it Ladybug.
She squealed as he pushed her.
Loni: Look how high I am mommy.
Nellie: I see!
Loni: Go push mommy Nick. She needs to be high like me. Please Nick!
Nick walked over to Nellie's swing. First placing his hands over hers as she gripped the chains. With his fingers he softly caressed her hands. He moved them down the side of her body before gripping the bottom of the chained swing. He whispered softly in her ears.
Nick: Hold on.
He pushed her just as hard as he did Loni. And both mother and daughter laughed at being so high in the air.
At night the two of them would continue their love affair. Sometimes she would sneak to his room when Loni came to her bed. Other times he would visit her. By this time Nellie and Loni had stayed well into their third week. And each day Nick would ask her to stay just a little longer. It was almost the end of summer and the beginning of school was near. Nellie knew she would eventually have to return. At times she would sneak in on Nick and Loni when he read her bedtime stories or played tea party with her the dolls he bought. And often the three of them would picnic in the park and listen to the latest musicians that were passing through Starlight Hills in hopes of finding their next big break. When Loni was away, they would hold hands and share special glances at each other. Nick even used Nellie in one of his disappearing acts on stage. Nellie was nervous to be in front of a large crowd but Nick always assured her that he would never hurt her. The more she was with him the more ready he was to commit to her for the rest of his life. Sometimes he would watch her sleep at night. She looked at peace and without a care in the world. And she was. Being with him she was secure about never needing or wanting anything. After coming home one night from the movies, Nick and Nellie stayed behind while Ms. Carol took Loni into the house.
Before she could walk away with them, Nick grabbed Nellie's hand as he sat on the car. He held her in his arms and she wrapped hers around his neck in an embrace.
Nick: So have you thought about it? You and Loni moving here permanently with me.
Nellie: I don't know Nick. We've been over this. Things back home are a lot more complicated.
Nick kissed her
Nick: All the more reason why you should live here. I want to make this a home for you and Loni. Ms. Carol will be moving back soon once she has fully recovered.
Nellie: So you want me and Loni to fill the void in the house.
Nick: No. I want you to fill the void in my heart when you are not around.
Nellie: There is so much.
Nick: I don't want to pressure you Nellie. I just want to love you.
Nellie: I have to go back home. See how things are and then we will see.
Nick: I'm just afraid that if you do leave, you won't come back. Can you say you love me enough to come back?
Nellie looked at him. There was slight desperation and worry in his eyes. She kissed him.
Nellie: I have to go back.
Nellie was torn. She paced back and forth in her room. One side of her wanted to stay in Starlight Hills. To stay with the family that took care of her when she had nothing and helped her through one of the roughest times of her life. On the other side, she knew she had to go back home and take care of her family. By now she had been gone for over almost a month. And what was supposed to be a week long trip was not so much by now.
She decided to call back home.
Ms. Carol sat in the family room. She was a little nervous but managed to look strong and calm in front of the stranger.
The man was nice, clean cut and spoke elegantly to her. She could tell from his clothes that he was well to do.
Ms. Carol kept small talk with the man for as long as she could.
Man: So when did you say Nellene would be back?
Ms. Carol: Any minute now. I know she would be so surprised to see you.
Man: I should hope. You would imagine my surprise when my fiance decided to postpone our wedding just a just a week before and then rushed to come back here. But meeting you I understand. You are just as nice and warm as she would describe you.
Just as she was going to speak again, Nellie, Nick and Loni entered the room from an afternoon outing. They called to Ms. Carol.
Ms. Carol: Here in the living room.
Nellie: Your text said to come home soon and that it was important for me. What's up? Are you okay?
Ms. Carol: Everything is fine dear. We have a guest though.
The gentleman raised from his couch as Nellie and the others walked further into the room.
Nellie: John?
John: Hello baby. I thought I would come out and surprise you.
Nellie was shocked, she wanted to run but she was stuck standing there between her fiancee and Nick.

Oh no! My heart is breaking for Nick! He deserves better than this! \:mad\: I hope it's just John not taking no for an answer when Nellie broke up with him. With a lie of omission like that, I'm not sure if she's good enough for him. Call me biased. \:wub\:
