“You've got to be kidding me,” Morena might have been a fan of fantasy, but she knew better than to live in one.

The man didn't answer, just looked at her with barely noticeable smile.

“Look, whatever it is you do for a living, it’s your choice and your business. I on the other hand am a technician, and you could tell with one press of a button whether I do my job well or not.”

Violet spared a moment to glare at Morena before continuing her gaze at Mr. Murray with admiration.
“Don’t you know, Mori? Even police uses the help of psychics! I’d love to learn about my future, Mr. Murray,” she said excited.

“It would be my pleasure, Miss. But you should know beforehand that the charge for my reliant insight is quite expensive.”

“Oh, that’s not a problem. She’ll fix your computer for free.” Violet said without a doubt in her posture.

“As if–“

“Shut up and be a witness of magic!” Violet glanced quickly at her grunting roommate. “You won’t have to pay the rent for three months if that helps your crappy attitude.”

Before Morena could protest, the so called psychic took Violet’s hands into his. “Very well, I want you to relax, Miss…”

“Violet,” she said.

“Yes, Miss Violet, please focus on the question that you seek the answer to. Repeat it in your mind. Now close your eyes… take a breath… let this question channel through your body into my mind. The universe will send me an answer.”

“Bullcrap,” coughed Morena into her fist, but no one paid attention to her.
After several glares and eye rolls coming from Morena the man spoke again. “I see… You desire love and happiness, and all shall be yours… soon.”

Violet squealed in joy, Morena pretended to throw up.

“I see a great amount of money coming into your delicate hands, you need to be cautious. If put to the right cause, it’ll earn you everything you want and more. Be confident, my dear, you’ll know when the opportunity comes.”

“Please, tell me more!”

“It’s a bit unclear… let me concentrate. Ah, yes, there’s more. I see a man…”

“Yes?!” Violet was practically shaking with excitement. “How does he look?”

“You’ll meet a young man in your path. A fair honorable man. He’ll be the greatest love of your life… there’s so much light around you in the future. He’ll be your sun. And I sense it shall happen soon.”
Morena wasn’t sure how to feel about what she had witnessed against her will. Her roommate was clearly into all the crap the man said. To some extent it was in fact entertaining seeing Violet’s childish joy, Mr. Murray’s confident bullcrap dripping out of his mouth just like that. She herself could never keep a straight face saying something as ridiculous.

“I’m must go, ladies. It was a pleasure to meet you both. I hope to see you soon, Miss Morena. Violet,” he bowed his head at the brunette.

Violet burst into giggles waving goodbye.

“I’d rather you never came back so I could put your computer on fire,” but the man was already outside.
“Whatever, Mori. Be grumpy all you like, that’s all you do anyway, isn't it?”

Morena laughed, “Sure.”

Without saying another word Violet turned around and left. The technician felt relieved to be left alone in her computer world again, but there was some unclear feeling inside her stomach. It was barely noticeable and she chose to ignore it altogether.
Violet changed into her work clothes and waited for clients to come. But her thoughts kept coming back to Morena. Her roommate was so negative about the whole palm reading thing.

The brunette wanted to believe in a bright future ahead of her. It seemed until now nothing good ever happened to her. But now there was hope, a chance that the man told the truth. She wasn't stupid, she knew not to trust some tale from a stranger blindly. But as her aunt used to say, if there’s hope, there’s a way. Now her aunt might have had a problem with citing, but she did have a point.
A half an hour later came her favorite client – Danna. They knew a lot about each other going way back when Violet dated a friend of Danna’s brother.

“There’s going to be a gathering at my house tomorrow, you should totally come, Vi.” Danna said.

“Gladly, you know how much I enjoy your company.”

“And I yours! Honestly, I dunno what I’d do without you. My hair would look like bird’s nest and my head would explode from all the unshared gossip,” she laughed.

“Then be grateful, I’m not going anywhere,” Violet winked at her grabbing some hair lotion.
The next day.

Violet was done for the day and before heading back home to prepare for the evening, she went to talk to Morena. Even though she sometimes purposely were getting on her nerves, it was important to her they were on good enough terms, having to live together and all.

“Hey, grumpy!” she said walking in.

Morena just glared at her.

“Ok, here’s the deal. Danna invited me to this party or whatever, I want you to come with me. There’ll be food so you can stop being grumpy at me for eating yours all the time.”

“You think you’re going to pay me off with one evening? It’s not even your food….” She raised her hands quizzically. “Why am I surprised?”
“Look, it’s free food, drinks and hot guys, who also happen to be rich, in one place. I could take a friend with me, but I’m offering it to you.” Violet pointed out.

“When you put it this way, I can’t really decline, can I?”

“Ok, see you in an hour.”

“Yeah yeah,” Morena sighed.
Apparently, Violet said the truth – there was plenty of food at the gathering. But it didn't mean all was forgotten. Here and there Morena would “accidentally” nudge Violet on the dance floor. The brunette even tripped once almost spilling her drink.

“Stop embarrassing me!” She hissed into her ear passing by.
And then out of a sudden Violet froze looking at the opposite direction.

“What?” Morena asked.

“Oh my God, Mori,” she squealed silently. “I think it’s him!”
“What? Who?”

“My sun! Look, his hair and the way he stands… so confident, charming! This is the one, it has to be!” Violet grabbed her hand to stop her. “Don’t turn around!”

“But you just said–“
“Oh, for God’s sake. Subtle, Mori, be subtle.” She herself was far from subtle at this point. “He’s so handsome, I have to talk to him.”

“Please, don’t lose your head. Think, Violet, think! There’s no man-sun or whatever, he may be hot, but he’s not your prince charming. They don’t exist.”

“I beg to differ, my dear. Bye!” And just like that she walked away to the sun-man.

The rest of the evening Violet spent in a company of her new-found lover. They seemed to be getting along well, but Morena eyed them suspiciously nevertheless. There was something surreal about the man. She feared her roommate would get into trouble being as naive as she was.

Feeling protective of Violet (and surprising herself) she asked Danna about the blonde, but apparently she didn't know him.
"He’s probably one of the friends my brother invited. Or maybe he’s the date Alice was talking about…” Danna looked at the cozy couple on the sofa. “Nah, probably not. Though where is Alice?”

“Thanks for having me here, Danna. But I must say you may had one drink too many.”

“And you one too less, Mori,” she winked and leaned on her for support.
Danna wasn’t the only one with one too many drink in her belly.

“I think it’s time for us to go home, Violet.”

“But why, mom? I’m having a great time!” She teased and almost fell without Morena’s interference this time.

“We have work tomorrow, remember? Actually today. In few hours.”

“Oh look at the time!” The blonde spoke. “It was nice meeting you, ladies. I’d better head off as well.”
As their paths crossed Morena couldn't help noticing one of his eyebrows being crooked weirdly. He quickly covered the spot with his hand and walked off without a look back at Violet, who very much still wanted his attention and more than just a simple goodbye.

“Nooo! I didn't even get his number!” sobbed Violet.

“Let’s go home. I’m sure you’ll find each other if you’re meant to, right?” She tried to play along.

And she probably was right. At least somewhat.
The story is only beginning, there are lot more to come and unravel ;). Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it, till next time!

Not gonna lie. I really don't like that Violet person, so you're doing a great job at showing how Mori feels about her. I'm super confused about the blonde though. What was up with the eyebrow thing? I'm thinking his face was falling off which is probably very wrong. \:\)
