Oakridge Lodge is an adventure waiting to be experienced. The area has been rezoned 'residential', so the lovely old Lodge can no longer be operated as a commercial enterprise. The owners are hopeful they can find someone with a very large family [or perhaps a multi-generational one] willing to take over Oakridge as it presently stands.

'As it presently stands', Oakridge Lodge has an impressive resume - constructed of grey fieldstone and solid maple timber with a clay tile roof and comprising of 2 storeys, it has 2 double bedrooms, 1 single and a 3-bed dormitory on the ground floor. The shared bathroom facilities comprise 3 separate toilet/basin cubicles and 4 showers, also enclosed for privacy - all within the one bathing precinct. There is also a separate, stand-alone handbasin and mirror.

The kitchen/dining room is open plan, with back to back fireplaces in the latter, so that all corners get their share of the warmth. The kitchen itself has been equipped on the 'double' system - 2 each fridges, stoves, microwaves, sinks etc. to allow for flexible meal preparation - the diningroom has 2 tables, each with seating for 6, although in a pinch that could be extended to 8. Plenty of counter and storage space in both kitchen and dining.

In an alcove between the diningroom and the media lounge, are 3, wall-telephone cubicles - very basic, just phones with a dividing wall between - but extremely useful in a large household. A small games room with 3 machines opens off the side of the diningroom, and in turn allows access to the fenced rear yard and the children's playground - swing, slide and treehouse. There is also a handy garden seat for use by the 'play supervisor' . .. or just to enjoy a sunny interlude

The media room is interesting. It lies sideways across the front of the Lodge building and is separated into 3 usage 'spaces' by a t-bone divider. The room is dominated by a large, marble fireplace and hearth, extended into bookshelves either side and there is a comfortable sofa, front and centre. On either end of the room is a wall-mounted TV screen and another sofa; finally, on the side opposite the fireplace and facing the street, there is a music appreciation corner with a pair of guitars ready for strumming. . . . and, of course, another deep-cushioned sofa. Plenty of small tables for accessories and ornaments here too.

The upper storey was reserved solely for the owner. It comprises a double bedroom, lounge with TV and audio system and a fully fitted bathroom having both bath and shower.

Note that there is no computer, nor is there a gym - Oakridge Lodge was designed principally for outdoor pursuits and it was decided that distractions from that purpose would be kept to a minimum. However, it would be a simple matter to install both after change of ownership.
