oops ,. . I just re-read your post and perhaps this wasn't what you wanted to know? The simple answer would be that you can't install a lot, once your game is running - either in play mode or build. . . . but, If you already have it installed, then follow the last part of my previous post from . . 'you will find your new house' . . .

I am so sorry it has taken so long to answer your post. I really hope you haven't been waiting for the information all this time. Just in case, here is what I do. when you have downloaded the lot file from TSR, unzip it and put the Sims3pack file [there will only be 1 with this extension] in your Downloads folder - which is found here if your game was installed according to default location......My Documents/ElectonricArts/TheSims3/Downloads...... Then you have 2 choices to proceed. [1] Double click on the Sims3pack file for the lot. this will open your game's Launcher and you will see the file under the Downloads tab. Dependong on how your computer is set up for double clicks, the file may automatically be installed when the Launcher opens . . or you may still need to put a tick in the box and click 'install'. - it may take a while as lot files are, by definition, larger than normal downloads . . .you will see a black screen first, then a progress one and finally one where you can click to Okay and close. . . . . or [2] Open your game as far as the Launcher screen, open the Downloads tab and put a tick in the lot box, then click install. The same sequence of small screens will appear until you need to click Okay to close them. . . . . . Once this is done, continue to open your game and you will find your new house [or other lot] in the Unoccupied tab for houses. Select it and follow the prompts to put it down on your chosen site - bearing in mind it cannot go on a smaller plot, but will happily sit on a larger one. ...... If you put it on a larger one and try to move it later, your lot will have the new larger footprint and you won't be able to put it back on the original site, so take care when locating it. Click on the lot once it is settled will open it for game play or you can continue in build mode and change anything/everything, as you wish. . . . . . I hope this is clear, but if you still have questions, I am now in a position to reply much more promptly and will be happy to assist. Happy Simming. Marg.
