We've had new versions made over here by the BBC they're available on DVD but they're not all that good. I still think the best film version of Austen is with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. Films just don't seem to catch the essence of the novel.

Thank you for your comments. My favourite is Northanger Abbey, I think Catherine Moorland's character is great. I was given a copy of the book one Christmas when I was thirteen and absolutely loved it although my mum was worried it was too old for me. I also like Mansfield Park I like how Fanny...
