Latest Status: TSR RigFix has been updated to handle memory errors and reported issues
Batch conversion of downloads on TSR has not yet started!
Workshop updated (update from existing tool, download page will be updated soon)
TSR staff have been working hard to fix the problems caused by the Pets EP and the 1.26 game patch (1.27 for Mac) released by EA. To enable Pets animations, EA have changed the way many objects work. Without boring you with the technical details the result was that most CC fails to work in the game after applying the patch or Pets EP.
Workshop is now fixed and exports objects which work with Pets and the patch. We will run a batch process to fix all of our existing content "server side" which we hope to start on Friday. While this process is running we may suspend Sims 3 downloads so that users don't get a mix of patched and unpatched files. This process will take an estimated 10 hours.
The new tool, TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer (TSR RigFix) is now tested, documented and ready for you to use to fix your Sims 3 Custom Content after installing Pets or patching the game. Go to the Fix Your Game page to get the tool and follow the simple instructions. By including step by step screenshots we seem to have made the process look more complicated than it really is but this should make even the most nervous PC users feel comfortable fixing their content. That said, be sure to back your game files up and use this tool carefuly (and at your own risk).
Unfortunately this tool will not work for Mac users. Fixed sims3packs can be downloaded from the site and these will work on your Mac. You could also copy your Sims3pack files to a PC and fix them all in one batch to drop back onto your Mac, so there are ways to fix your game, but not as quick and easy I'm afraid.
We will try and offer as much support as we can for this tool to our users via the Support System here at the site. Please be aware though, we might get lots of requests and reports about a common bug so generic answers and fixes might mean that you don't get a personal reply. Please check back for updates if you have problems.

Awesome job! Thank you! Just wondering..... For Mac users: Porting your content to Windows for the fix is possible, great news! However, what do we do with our DCCache and DCBackup folders? Do we port those too, and fix/replace the same way? I'm sorry if I'm asking a stupid or obvious question, but I'm sure I won't be the only one
Thanks so much.

I'm confused whether I need this or not. I installed sims 3 pets yesterday and didn't have any problems with sims using cc items, and sims had posted "they fixed the problem," but I don't know which of the many problems they fixed. Will using this make my game stop randomly freezing when I try to interact with anything in the pet store, or just randomly freezing while doing nothing in partucular? Will it make my mailbox work again (thats not a cc item), or computers work for my other families (also not cc)?

@ Schnucki93 Same here. Everything else works except for my beds, they are worse than they were beofre :P
On Oct 20, 2011 AnoeskaB wrote:
Unfortunately some beds can't be repaired. Creators who are still acitve will most likely update their beds, so those will need to be redownloaded. As far as we know, those are the only objects that may still show problems after the fix. The memory problems will be looked at, and I expect a solution for that will come up tomorrow. For now you could try to deselect part of the files in the DCCache to see if that works. We've done successfull tests with more then 1.5 Gb of dbc files at once, so a single dbc file of a few hundred Mb should be possible. We'll try to find out why it is not working for everyone.
On Oct 20, 2011 MissDaydreams wrote:
@carly, I give up for today... I think I will uninstall all of my CC tomorrow, fix the downloads and then install them... and I hope it will work... but I have a question - do I need to fix DCCache if I'm going to install CC from the beginning? now it's fixed but maybe I should return to my backup (not converted) version? Thanks for any help!
On Oct 20, 2011 carly! wrote:
@AnoeskaB I've tried unchecking all but one part and it still gives me the memory error. As it's saving, I was watching the memory on task manager. During the save, it climbs from about 103,000 K to over 400,000 K then gives the error. Says the conversion was successful although it wasn't. If it help you any, here's the sizes of my dbc files.
dcdb0.db = 1,572,413 KB (error)
dcdb1.db = 1,232,906 KB (error)
dcdb2.db = 152,321 KB (worked)

Those who have problems with out of memory exeption, just open the .exe file with CFF explorer, click on File Header (on the left) than find Characteristics line in the table on the right, and there will be button "Click Here". Next step you will see a new window, with parameters and check-boxes. Check the "App can handle >2gb address space". Works now normally (i have win7 64-bit, so i think it wouldn't work if you OS is 32-bit).The same method was used to teach Sims 3 Launcher and CAW to see more than 2gb (by default they only see 2gb, and launcher would say that some cc not installed just because there would be more than 2gb in dbc files. CAW start to work normally if you have lot of sims3pack CC installed.)

Then if there is a problem with an item delete it and contact the creator to see if they can do a fix on their own material. For now I suggest you just use the store content and the items that came with the game.

On Oct 24, 2011 Rennara wrote:
Gempybanker26 I if you see the granny file on your start menu it should be okay. Everytime you launch the rigfix it shows that warning about having the granny file installed. Is your graphics card strong enough? I've seen a lot of people all of sudden having issues because of that. If all else fails.... you'll get a good clean game if you uninstall the whole game and reinstall everything fresh including patches and custom content. If the custom content doesn't work then delete it because it probably hasn't been reconfigured for pets. Please note that even if you don't use pets you will need to install the patch so the custom content will work because everything is being changed to work with this new expansion pack. Note too that we are still waiting for confirmation that all of the cusom content on this site has been updated. There are also issues with EA itself so if you want to play it safe just go vanilla for now. Sorry I can't be of more help but I've often found that to do a clean sweep is less of a headache in the long run.

Gimpybanker, Hi, Its the safest way but you can download everything again as you play...everything should be reconfigured here on the site and you don't need to run the rig fixer.

Gimpybanker, when it says you have to move the granny file to the applications folder, you have to copy and paste it into the sims folder. those two should appear once you open the tsr rigfix. I hope this makes any sense, it's difficult to explain! but after that you should be able to run the rigfixer.
On Oct 24, 2011 MissDaydreams wrote:
@gimpybanker26 - The granny2.dll file MUST BE in a folder containing TSR RigFix Program. You must copy this file from its original foder (it is in Program Files -> Granny Crowd Scene) and paste it to folder containing TSR RigFix application. You don't need to have it in a folder with your game. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much TSR! =DYour efforts are truly magnificent, and the whole Sims community is very grateful for your efforts! <3However, I have a question. Would updating custom content to the latest patch 1.26 pose any problems, say, in the future? I know we'd never know what'll happen in the future, but should EA release a new patch/game, could there be a possibility of a script overlapping (or something like it) to happen? This is assuming the RIG file stays the same and EA makes no changes even with a new patch or game. Just a little prognosis is appreciated.
Thank you very much once again TSR for your efforts =)

I'm another who does not have the granny2.dll in the Crowd Scene directory where the instructions are saying it should be. As a point of reference, running WinXP.
The only .dll in the Crowd Scene directory is d3dx9_43.dll
I have all hidden and system files shown as well as all extensions. I CAN however run the Crowd Scene demo just fine. I've run a search through the Program File directory and I've found a 2006 version of that .dll showing in my Heroes of Might and Magic V directory. I copied it from that location to the TSR RigFix directory and am currently attempting to use that one to see if it works--so far all has progressed as expected. It's running through 1543 items /hide, and is about 50% done.
My guess is that since it was installed on my machine with another application, perhaps it didn't include it when I installed the Crowd Scene demo this evening.
If that is the case, for those who are not finding the file in the Granny Crowd Scene directory try doing a search through your program files for that specific file--the .dll I found is 392k btw, if that helps any.

If you are on Windows XP, you should just be able to search in your "Program Files" directory for the granny2.dll -- I can't speak for other versions of Windows at this moment. It is possible that under Windows Vista and certainly under Windows 7 it is hiding in the ProgramData directory. That one requires some setting changes to be able to see some (or in some cases all) of the files inside.

@ChumKatros: Just to clarify, you want to copy it not simply drag it. You should be able to either right-click and drag from the search window into the TSR RigFix directory and then choose "copy" or you could right click on it in the search window and choose copy then right click in the RigFix directory and choose "paste". Hopefully one of those works for you--it worked great for me.

Part of the issue is that the granny2.dll is used by a number of different games/3d applications. In my case, the file was only in the location of the first application that it was installed with. There are a few various fixes out there but so far, unless you can search for the file and find it on your hard drive somewhere else and copy it to the RigFix directory, I personally won't vouch for any other solution. The problem is that other programs which use it can get messed up if the solution isn't completely correct. I'm going to keep messing with it--what's the use of being an unemployed computer person if you can't find a solution for at least a few folks
For those who can't find it via search after installing the Crowd Scene demo, could you post what version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) you are using? Unfortunately, it seems that radgametools has removed the granny2.dll file from the Granny Crowd Scene Demo. This means that downloading that demo will no longer give you the file needed for the rigfix. Something you could try, is doing a search on your computer to see if you already have a granny2.dll file installed somewhere. If so, you can copy that one to the rigfix folder. As long as it's not an old(er) version, it should work just as well.

christina832010, You can restore any CAS items as those were not affected by the patch at all, and thus do not need to be fixed. That means any accessories, tattoos, make-up, clothing, hair, shoes, whole Sims, and even patterns are safe to use.

Yes, I too downloaded the Granny Demo and the Granny2 file was nowhere to be seen.
uh: So I now have a question, TSR: Can we delete the Granny Demo folder and all of its files, since the .dll file we actually needed wasn't even included?
Or do we keep the whole Granny folder and its contents in Program Files anyway?

LOL . . . I have been playing Sims since it's existence and have bought every expansion pack and several new computers (the last of which was purchased last month) to keep up with my addiction. EA definitely knows how to market the game and even insurmountable obstacles don't keep us true Simmies away too long. I took 4 days off this week to play the Sims . . . and haven't been able to do so because of the issue with custom content. The Granny issue is KILLING me! Every link is no longer there -- and I, for some odd reason, cannot get this downloaded to fix my custom content. Regardless, I know it will all soon resolve . . . so I remain patient. I have noticed that several items I'd previously downloaded from TSR (yes, I am a paying subscriber and have been for the majority of the past 3 or 4 years) have been "fixed" and are available for redownload.
So, please . . . where is that durned Granny download???

Rennara, You need to uninstall the original file from your game. Then you install the new updated version. The files do not overwrite so you need to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version.

Chemy, I have the same problem here. This is a bad fix. I am searching around on some other Sim 3 sites. Oh well guess TSR no longer wants my annual renewal fee. Lot of other sites out there though. Too bad made a lot of friends here over the last 8 years too bad they don't care.

@Christina632010 totally agree about the payer stuff. But TSR has become the absolute worst at taking money and giving nothing in return. When they had the magazine my sister a payer here paid for it and never recieved her copy. She contacted them and it was not until she turned it over to fraudulant charges with her credit card company that they coughed up the product she had paid for. Weeks of constant emailing the TSR staff did nothing. I just think this will be the last time they get a dime out of me.

I really believe TSR and all the independedent creators are doing their utmost for this hiccup. If all else fails delete your documents folder and start downloading your cc again with creator date of Oct 20 or later if you want to play it real safe and start your game all over. Don't worry about the fix and just go on with what you have for now. CAS items are okay from any date. Objects that the pets do not interact with are not affected eg curtains, pictures, lights,clutter etc. The rigfix is a handy tool but not essential to playing the game. If something does not work delete it until it is fixed. I will continue to support TSR not just for the site but for the amazing creators and simmers like you...50,000 members soon and going strong!
