Shelby Tyler daughter of famous country music legend Phil Tyler has led what most people would considered a charmed life. She knows all the right people, throws the most glamorous parties, and always makes the most interesting headlines. But even for the rich and famous life can come crashing down at their feet. Shelby was awakened by the shrill of the penthouse elevator and angrily wondered who had come to ruin a day of sleeping in. Shelby was shocked to see her father's personal assistant in her apartment.

Shelby - Geez Jocelyn don't you think it's bit early for visiting.

Jocelyn - It's eight thirty.
Jocelyn - Shelby I have some bad news. It's your father he yesterday morning of a heart attack.

Shelby stared blankly at Jocelyn, she couldn't understand what the woman was saying. Her father couldn't be dead that was impossible.

Jocelyn - The hospital tried to call you but your phone has been disconnected.
Why did Jocelyn keep saying such awful things? Daddy wasn't dead. In fact the minute the woman left she was going to call him and tell him Jocelyn had gone insane.

Shelby - Some guy kept calling me so I changed my number.
Jocelyn had been prepared for Shelby's cries and tantrum, after all Shelby was quite dramatic. However she had not been prepared for the blank stare and absent response.

Jocelyn - Shelby honey do you understand what I'm saying? Phil is gone and he isn't coming back.
After Jocelyn's visit Shelby felt as if she had entered the twilight zone. There was a funeral with bout 300 people in attendance some she knew and others she had never seen before. Jocelyn had told her about a Will. Now they sat at some lawyer's office. Shelby felt numb, she had yet to shed a tear. Mr. Cruz - Are you listening Miss Tyler? At the time of your father's death he was in a great deal of debt.

Shelby - How bad?

Mr. Cruz - Well your father's estate and all its assets where seized by the banks. After liquidating his debts you where left with nothing.
This is just a bad dream, Shelby thought. It wasn't possible, fist Daddy was dead, now all their money was gone. These thing didn't happen, they just didn't.

Mr. Cruz - Miss Tyler, that means your apartment, your credit cards, your new convertible that's all gone now. I did however find a property bequeath to you by your late grandfather Samuel Tyler. Tyler Ranch in Appaloosa Plains.
Tucker Cohen stared the computer screen is frustration. Mr. Tyler had agreed to sell Tucker the failing ranch, yet Tucker kept trying to get in contact with the man to discuss the sale with no luck. If Tucker didn't come to an agreement with the man soon he wouldn't be able to save the ranch from falling into debt. Amber - Hey Tucker, dinner is ready.

Tucker - Thanks slim, where is Davie?

Amber - Getting cleaned up for dinner. Go and get it before it get cold. Don't look so worried remember what I told you things are going to get better soon.
Tucker - Thanks slim, see you tomorrow.

Tucker took over running the ranch after his father retired, Amber was the ranch only other employee, he remembered Amber telling him that his future looked bright, she fancied herself a psychic.
Davie - Did Amber tell you she saw our future. She says something new is coming our way. Amber says we are going to save the ranch.

Tucker - Davie that's enough kiddo, your dinner is getting cold.

Davie - Uncle Tucker when are we going to go visit mommy?
Tucker felt a wave of sadness wash over him. His younger sister Maureen, Davie's mother had fallen ill with a mysterious disease and she wasn't getting better.

Tucker - I don't know buddy, when the doctor says we can visit.

Davie - Ok uncle Tucker.
Tucker took a deep breath, Davie was such a good kid. Tucker hoped to god his got better soon he knew Davie was worried and at seven Davie was too young to worry. Shelby spent her last day in Bridgeport with her best friend Sasha, who had come to bring Shelby a new wardrobe to cheer her up.

Sasha - Come on Shel, it's not that bad. I'm sure the lawyer will get good news soon.

Shelby - I hope so. I can't stand the thought of spending the rest of my days at some obscure ranch.
That night after a teary goodbye Shelby got into the hunk go junk she called her 'new car' out of the city she loved so much and headed to a rundown, probably abandoned ranch in the middle of nowhere U.S.A
