This is great. Very real looking. These cans were used to set milk on the curb for the Cheese Company to come by, pick up the milk and taken to the factory for milk, cheese, etc. You were paid for the milk.
The can was double walled to insulate the milk, keeping it cool as long as possible. Ice was also added to help keep it cool.
The metal was galvanized to inhibit rust. The rust didn't show up for a long long time. The neck at top, was the diameter of the entire can interior, the flare out to handles indicates the thickness of the insulation.
Thank you. You took me back to my childhood and my parents milk cans lined up on the curb for the next truck.
