BV Bug in Pre-BV Lots?
Someone left a comment for me on my "Suburban Dream" lot saying that her Sims weren't aging. She didn't mention whether or not she has BV installed. The lot was created and packaged before I installed Bon Voyage and only requires EPs up to Seasons. I tested it rather extensively before submitting it. It was also run through the Clean Installer.
I downloaded the lot myself from TSR and installed it in my clean testing game, and encountered the same aging problem. Also, a few other weirdnesses popped up:
The chess board and chairs will need to be moved. I used a cheat to get the board and chairs centered in front of the windows, but where my Sims could use them before Bon Voyage they now stamp their feet and can't use one of the chairs. There is also a plant in back of one of the chairs that will have to be moved.
The bed in the master bedroom has some odd texture that I have no idea where it came from. Clicking on it with the design tool immediately returns it to the color it's supposed to be, which is the dark wood.
The teddy bear in the boy's bedroom is turned around. It was placed with the 45 degree angle cheat, but apparently something in BV messed with that, too. Strange, because other objects in this lot placed with that cheat are still at the 45 degree angle and are working fine.
Finally, the lot price when I packaged it in Seasons was $48,703. Installed in BV, the lot price is $57,042! I have no clue as to why this is.
Now that I've got BV installed it's impossible for me to go back and fix these problems and then repackage and reupload, without making the lot require Bon Voyage.
You can fix the aging problem quite easily: Just bring up the cheat window (press Shift, Control and C at the same time) and type in: Aging on. I did this and my Sims resumed normal aging.
The placement problems I described can be fixed simply by repositioning the affected items. The chess board and chairs will no longer be centered in front of the windows, but it's a minor design thing. I like things centered, that's all, which is why I did it.
I can't do anything about the price and I'm clueless as to why that happened. Inflation, I guess. We'll elect Hillary in 2008 and she'll take care of all that. :D
Apologies to all those who've experienced problems with this lot, and please, let me know if you have problems with any of my other lots. So far they were all created and packaged with all the EPs up to and including Seasons, and worked fine.
