The Goth Sr. Family
Gunther Goth brought his family--his wife Cornelia and their son Mortimer--from the old country. After a bit of hard work and a bit of good fortune, he founded--with a bit of assistance from the Landgraabs--what would one day become Old Town.
Eventually, as is the natural progression of things, Mortimer left to strike out on his own, leaving behind a gracefully aging Gunther and Cornelia. With only each other and their cats, Hecuba and Menelaus, for company, Gunther left the life of a professor emeritus and became a College Dean. Cornelia focused on Society (with a capital S) and, given her wealth and her family connections, became the focal point of what was developing into a rather elite and exclusive grapevine.
When Mortimer moved back into the neighborhood with his new bride, Bella, Gunther and Cornelia couldn't be happier...at least not until their first grandchild, Cassandra was born. Glad to take a backseat to their son, Gunther and Cornelia became the Goth Srs., allowing Mortimer to step forward as a new player in Society.
After incorporation into Old Town, the Goth Srs. led a more reclusive life than before. Gunther continued on as College Dean, and Cornelia continued with the Sim City Bridge Society, continued hosting high teas, and continued studying the shapes of people's heads. Cassandra didn't come over as often (Bella was working to bond with her strange, unusual daughter), saddening both Gunther and Cornelia. All that changed when a certain woman--two or three years older than Mortimer--arrived in Old Town and calmly told Gunther that she was his daughter. This news stunned Gunther and Cornelia and Mortimer, certainly, but also all of Old Town as scandal seemed to raise its ugly head. However, the young woman's story quickly proved that there had been no wrong-doing at all, just a bit of pre-marital hanky-panky.
Before Gunther and Cornelia moved from the old country--indeed, before Gunther and Cornelia even met--Gunther had served in the military. While on a week's leave with his friends, they did a bit of traveling and wound up in a Danish tavern. After becoming rather intoxicated, Gunther wound up in bed with a beautiful, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, buxom Scandinavian girl. As they had to return to their unit, Gunther and his friends left the next morning. What Gunther didn't know was that the one-night stand was sufficient to result in a pregnancy and, later, a baby girl, whom her mother named Hildegaard...or Hildy for short. Gunther finished his term, went home, met and married Cornelia, and had a son with her: Mortimer. He had no idea that he also had a daughter.
Hildy, upon her mother's death, gathered up her belongings and moved into Old Town. She hadn't planned on settling there--or even meeting Gunther. But, upon learning that the man who might be her father was the town patriarch, she naturally had some questions...questions that her mother had never bothered to answer (or known the answer to).
Cornelia, naturally, became a bit upset that her husband had kept a secret from her all those years, but after getting to know Hildy, accepted that it hadn't been a secret so much as an unknown truth. She graciously invited Hildy to stay with them until she found a place of her own.
Hildy, however, upon discovering that much of the family's wealth had been passed along to Mortimer and that Gunther and Cornelia were surviving--not living, but surviving--on his meager salary as College Dean, decided that she couldn't simply abandon the father she was just getting to know and the woman she was quickly becoming good friends with. She began working as a Department Store Clerk, and--capitalizing on her striking Scandinavian features--became a much sought-after model. In no time at all she became a Fashion Columnist. But the income wasn't enough...not yet.
Around this time, Hildy met and fell in love with a struggling Subway Musician named Charles. With her support and the permission of Gunther and Cornelia--who allowed them to marry and move in with them permanently--Charles worked his way through the industry, finally becoming a Rock Star. Now, with a substantially improved financial situation, Hildy was ready to settle into her career, let Charles settle into his, and allow Gunther and Cornelia to retire completely and not worry about anything.
Gunther, however, refused to retire and Cornelia--with the finances no longer in dire-straits--resumed her high teas and bridge games. Moreover, Hildy had to go on maternity leave, not once but twice, thanks to her loving, virile, vigorous husband. Now, with two children--Emily and Arthur--to take care of and whose needs (and wants) needed to be met, Gunther had more reason to remain at the college.
Fortunately, though, Cornelia is happy to have the chance to spend time with her step-grandchildren (her own grandchildren are infrequent visitors after all) and help raise them while Hildy and Charles work. She has even taken it onto herself to find ways to earn additional money to provide the children with allowances. At a suggestion from Mama Hick, whom she knew through a mutual acquaintance, she looked into crafting Garden Gnomes or carving Stone Gargoyles. The work was a bit much for an elderly woman, though, so she also looked at making homemade butter, canning preserves, and harvesting honey. It isn't much, but she makes enough on the side to keep the children happy and contribute a bit to the family budget.
Hecuba and Menelaus, who only had the other for entertainment and society, now enjoyed the petting and hugging and games they play with Emily and Arthur. They find the two children a welcome change from Cassandra, who always made them uncomfortable with the intensity of her observations of them.
Family base income: $2850 (College Dean-$700, Fashion Columnist-$1050, Rock Star-$1100)
***Update: 18 August 2010***
Despite Cornelia's contributions to the household income through selling Garden Gnomes, churning butter, spinning gold thread, and making preserves, Charles and Hildy felt it better if one or the other of them could earn more money. So, Charles left the Music Industry and instead worked hard to become a Venture Capitalist. It's only $200 more, but every little bit helps. So, the income changes as follows:
Family base income: $3050 (College Dean-$700; Fashion Columnist-$1050; Venture Capitalist-$1300)

Stories of Mara Grimmer #5
Hello everyone,
the 5th Part of my Story is ready and submitted. I hope you will like it.
Nice day, Guslucky
I'm back .... had no Internet for 7 days
I am finally back online & on TSR after a week of not having a Internet Connection.
I've spent 2 hours last Thursday to my internet provider which didn't resolve the issue. I went and bought a new router today however, I had to ring them as I still wasn't connecting.
Hey presto ... within 20 minutes of sorting out the settings on the router .... i jumped for joy because i was re-connected to the Internet.
I have missed being on TSR & submitting my walls and floors
Having no Internet is not good for me as I don't watch TV.
Anyway, I am back now so watch out for my new items coming soon. :)
Another Lot Soon
As I mentioned in my prior entry, I did get a lot done this weekend. I repeat, A lot. One. Uno. I'm so disappointed. I thought surely I could get two done. The one I did do is bigger than my last two and frustrated me to no end with roof issues. But I got it done to my liking and it's fully furnished and decorated, ready for sims. All that is left is to snag some photos of it, do the techie stuff, and upload it. That should only take me three more days. LOL I didn't play at all this weekend so I still want to put some sims in the house and let them run around for a bit before uploading it. My simmies always try out my lots for me, and if I can happen to catch them in a shot or two, even better.
I also had to run my game with custom content disabled. Darn thing won't uninstall a piece of CC and I get an error message and the game won't run. Hmph. Yeah, yeah, I read up on a few things in the forums and I'll mess with that before gutting the whole thing and reinstalling. It's a little soon for me to reinstall. Sheesh. I just need to get the bad file out of the game somehow and I'm sure it will be fine. Maybe I broke it. I dunno. I won't think too hard on it since it's easier to just reinstall than troubleshoot for 6 weeks THEN reinstall anyway. I contacted EA but they just said they got my email and asked if I had tried troubleshooting measures before contacting them. Um, not to be too picky, but... read my email guys. All the questions they listed for me to answer were already covered. Duh. Whatever guys. I'll figure it out. I always do.
Time for randomness! So, can anyone tell me why babies have favorites? I mean seriously, how does a baby know what falafel is? How does it differentiate between the music genres at such a young age? It can't even talk yet but somehow it knows it likes Roots best? And turquoise. Turquoise? Really? Red, yellow, blue, maybe green and the others, but turquoise? What? How does a baby know? Get a clue EA. I'd like to see the favorites change with every age, not some stupid reward thing. Just make it part of aging. C'mon, not every little girl loves pink until she's old and gray. I dunno. It just seems like a really unnecessary thing when a sim is born. "WAIT! It doesn't have its favorites assigned! You CAN'T take it home yet!" I will add though that the little blankie bundle of joy is much better than the poor naked things we got in the Sims 2. Poor naked babies freezing to death on the kitchen floor.
I still find the social worker coming to take them away, ha ha, from child abuse amusing. It doesn't happen to my families but it still amuses me. Wow. I was a kid in the 80s and man, nobody gave a rat's hindquarters if you were starving or getting beaten. Mommy was too busy with her new job to bother with you and don't ever ask Dad for anything or you'll get smacked because he's overtired, overworked, and underpaid. Babysitter? What's that? I tell ya what, a sim kid wouldn't last a day in my life. Why when I was a kid, I had a key to my house, a bike, some money from mowing the lawn burning a hole in my pocket, I could cook, clean, watch other kids be miserable, feed myself, bathe myself, and by gum I got that homework done by myself every night too. Who the heck needs a babysitter or parents? LOL Ah, the 80s. Good times.
Kelly Glass/ Life is Good
I had to discontinue these storie much to my displeasure. My computer crashed resulting in losing everything (sims, cc, stories themselves). I am sorry and I hope to not disappoint any of my readers, and I hope that you read my next story that is coming out in the near future. Thanks for understanding.
Not Sure what to do now?
I've enjoyed starting to create houses, which isn't my speciality, but I take pride in producing extravigant or cute little wonders that your sims and yourself will enjoy living in. I try hard to find a layout that people will love, and wont have to change. Of course I'm not one to create my own personalised wall paper or flooring, which takes out the fun of something new! Then again, I do create something that uses base game products for you to enjoy. I'm aiming to create starter house packages, that are under 20,000 that your sim starts with. But have done more bigger homes, for your more well developed sim family... As for my sims clothing, I have 2 things to upload soon, a wedding party which is a red/black theme. Then a recolour of one of my dresses I did early on last year. Something different. Now, when they are all uploaded, I am stuck on what to do next, I attempted another swimsuit, but quickly became frustrated! I wana try and do something else, that people will want!! But I need some inspiration, I'll have to start taking pictures of my clothes again to get some textures... Thats a task and a half, lol... Anyway, lets just enjoy the fact that I have 211,700 downloads.... YAY!! take it all in... breathe... such a good feelin, remember to leave me lovely comments, hints and suggestions one my creations, they are a wonderful suprise and much appreciatesd!!! Thanks ((hugs)) Twin2162Country Style Loves - now Sims 3 House of Character
Attention Country Style Lovers : After the download success I received with the Sims 2 HOC creation, I decided to create one for the Sims 3. The profile picture gives the impression that it is an ordinary looking house although one might get a second opinion when taking a look at the other photos attached to the download. I hope this creation will be as successful as my Sims 2 one was ! Enjoy for free :D
Thats it!
As many may know. When having the speed at maximum the game may freeze. Plumbob, tree and other objects may still animate. It happend to me 4 times in a single hour. It's so annoying. I will start playing again when EA/Maxis fix it.
I am at Twitter!
Just forget to say that i am at Twitter.. would be nice if you follow me there :)

Long time no see.

Thanks to All
I just wanted to pop in and thank everyone that has left me a comment on my lots. I haven't gotten around to doing it individually. I never seem to get enough time online to spend in one place to get much done. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all. The positive comments have really been mood boosters for me.
Also, this might seem like nothing to get excited about to some, but I just realized I've had over 7,000 pageviews to my minisite and over 70,000 downloads. 70,000! That boggles my mind considering how casual I am about submitting. I can't grasp that something of mine has been downloaded by someone, somewhere, 70,000 times. Well, of course it's not ONE thing by ONE person, but you get the idea. I hope.
I have two lots picked out I'd like to try my hand at. A Gothic Revival type and a Craftsman. Neither is my norm so they should be a challenge. I can't decide which one to do next so I'll just do them both. Guess I'll have to see if my power holds through more storms. We've been getting hammered here regularly with severe weather. If the power ain't out I'm hiding in my closet from a tornado. It's really not conducive to the creative spirit. It's been so regular that before I sit down at my computer to work on a lot I check the weather to see if more storms are on the way. OK, I have about an hour before the next one hits. Let's get to it! LOL Yes, it's that bad. It's frustrating enough to have to plan to fill my fun meter around my lousy job. Now I have to plan around the weather too.
OK, I'll stop whining and go. Maybe I'll get something done this weekend to submit. TGIF!
Time to insert the random blurb. Evil babies. Do you get evil babies? Is it really just me and my "high moral ground" (I have a friend that always said that about me.) that thinks this is... disturbing and creepy? Really. Think about it. My son's sim had twins and one was good and one had the evil trait. Whenever something befell one of the parents the baby (I think it was a boy.) would be "fiendishly delighted". Fiendishly? This is a baby. You shouldn't be evil at birth. You need to grow into it. Be scarred for life by some horrible family disaster or chemical mishap. A science experiment gone bad. You know, something horrible to warp the mind, not born that way. Oi. Fiendishly delighted. O...K... I suppose I'm the only one expecting the baby to float in the air and spin it's head all the way around too. Projectile vomiting pea soup is optional. I think my son put this sim in the criminal track when he grew up. Go figure.
Ueber happy!
So, I know a lot of people will think I'm dumb, but last night my boyfriend made me so happy! He decided he wanted to try to make a house in Sims3 and while making his Sim, he noticed something was off. He changed the resolution on the screen and it made everything SOOOOOOo much better! I can totally notice a difference in my Simmies now! <3 Everything was stretched before! I used to make my Simmies super thin because I thought they looked 'healthy' but after his change, holy crap their legs are waaaaaaay too thin and they look silly in some of the clothes ( in my opinion anyway). I am just so delighted!!!!!! I loves him!
A year at TSR!
Today I have a good holiday-I'm creating a year at TSR! I'm glad to share my creations with you and I'd like to continue. As Tim from Project Runay say-MAKE IT WORK!
Impatience... continued....
I'm back with this blog.
Although for many simmers the story section is not very important, it is for a a number of people. Giving us a platform to share our stories, we also feel it should be important to update regularly and with a reasonable amount of time someones story is featured and new stories to read on a daily basis. Sometimes a story is featured for just a couple of hours, other times, a story will be on the index page for days. It is not that no stories are submitted, but it feels like stories are an unwanted child,. You have to take care of it, but it is not given the love it needs.... With all due respect, ... if we are going to have stories on TSR and the chance to be featured with our creativity, it would be nice if someone would take control and do something about it. Too bad some of the best storywriters took their stories to their own blogs. Who is the story moderator today? I don't know. I don't know who to turn to if I have questions about stories. Please TSR... You would do us (story writers, readers) a big favour to embrace this neglected child you put in to this world....
Patience is a virtue... I think. I think I waited for the second chapter of my story to come out for almost one week. Then for 4 days there is no change on the TSR story page, no new stories at all! And today...BAM 10 new stories at once! I wish it was different. Why is this? I submitted part 3 right away. I hope it won't take this long now. I wanted to let you know it was out today, and that sometimes I can get a little impatient...
Anyway here it is:

Sorry
I know I´ve been a stranger, but trying to keep up with six puppies and work is hard work. On top of that my computer no longer want´s to play sims any more, it get´s to hot (laptop) and shuts down. When I´ve sold the pups (only have 2 to go, all the other are spoken for) I should be able to buy a new one (desktop) so I´ll be back building again. I´ve really missed it a lot and hope to "see" you all soon.

I got it wrong!
Hello there!
I’d sincerely like to apologise to the wonderful and talented artists here at TSR. I’ve recently made remarks and accusations that were completely untrue, and for that I’m deeply sorry. I can only put it down to my ignorance and lack of understanding in such matters and maybe a touch of jealousy.
TSR remains the best place for anyone to download quality custom content for the Sims, and the best place for new creators to upload to.
10000 downloads
whoopee I got 10,000 downloads. I want to thank everyone for downloading my creations.
Aveline Lot
Woot! My second Sims 3 lot has been approved and is due out tomorrow. I thought I'd pop in to give some details on Aveline. If this stuff bores you, don't read it. I'll ramble on like I matter regardless.
So, Aveline is my second Sims 3 lot, and I consider it to be a big sister lot to Amethyne. Big sister because it has more than Amethyne. I added a fireplace and swapped out the formal dining room for a family room to have warm, fuzzy time. I also added a basement room for nectar making/enjoying. I have a snobbish sim that loves her nectar and I put her and her quickly growing family in this house. (I swear she's pregnant 24/7. Do your sims woohoo autonomously? Mine do and I don't have any hacks at all. I guess somebody's dream finally came true. Not mine, however. LOL) Uh... where was I? Oh yeah, amenities. Aveline still has a decent size kitchen. I had to hack some of it off to make room for the basement stairs. The butt end of the house became a mud room type thing. Still 3 full baths and laundry. Two more bedrooms have been added upstairs. Just a matter of adding some walls and rearranging others. So if you really have a house full of sims that all need beds and stuffing them in a huge room barracks style ain't yo thang, then this lot might be for you. The yard is still big and open. I added a pool in back just for kicks. My sims never use it but it looks nice. Aaahhh. Useless nice things. Gotta love 'em. My sims prefer trampolines and Sim Gnubb. I do have a sim that has an odd attraction to his sprinkler system though. He's so cute. Um, anyway, that probably wraps up the newness for Aveline.
I thank Cyclonesue for her chimney tutorial. I just built around/over the nasty red brickiness of the chimneys in Sims 2, but now you have to actually remove the darn thing because you get object errors and junk. Bah. Fine, make it harder on us builders. Sheesh. We still kill your ugly red chimneys! Be gone mediocreness! Is that even a word? I guess it's mediocrity. Eh, whatever.
Amethyne seems to be getting a warm reception so I hope Aveline keeps everyone with the warm, fuzzy moodlet. I'm such a nerd.
And, one last random thing, because I know you love randomness. Why don't we get an OCD trait for our sims? That would roll about 3 others into one trait. Efficiency! There should also be a JERK trait. That would combine a few traits into one neatly defined personal flaw. Oh c'mon, my sims need at least 8-10 traits to really have a developed personality. You know you want an OCD JERK sim in your hood. And what would the other 3 traits be then? Hmmm...
3 days....
Sorry, I haven't created anything for 3 days!!! I've just been really busy, but I'm about to create new sims!! You'll hopefully see them tomorrow!!!!!
Meshing - Further developments on the porch
I am getting more familiar with my 3D program, which is blender. Learning the key board short cuts sure makes designing fly. Starting to feel like I am playing the keyboard like a piano to an internal design voice. As I've said in the last blurbs, I haven't even attempted to link any thing through import export or cloning into workshop then the game. I am mainly concentrating on learning how to create my own meshes, so I expect my learning curve to be steep for a while. I am kinda the type of person who opens the box then reads the instructions later :)
Below is a render of the porch railing I have developed and put together and one of the ginger bread pieces, I am still having issues where certain regions touch together that I have to work out. I also will be dipping my toes into the UV mapping soon. Then... <drum roll> importing from workshop the clone item. I know if I was using milkshape, alot of that is already documented. Obviously I like doing things the hard way as Workshop directly to Blender back to Workshop scripts are still being worked on.
Is this style of porch railing appealing to fellow Simmers?

500!!
i actually reached 500 downloads with just 3 creations!!!!!!!!!! i never thought this would happen!! next stop, 1,000!
Some updates
Hi guys, sorry for the delay. I've been busy in the last month or so because of finals and all the events surronding my high school graduation. YEAH!!! :D
But now that it's summer vacation, I'll have plenty of time to make some more cc for you guys. Right now I'm working on a line of printed T-shirts for teen Sims. I'll also throw in a few custom patterns and many new screenshots.
Stay tuned! ;)
