Broken Laptop

Unfortunately, my laptop with the sims 2 on is broken and now needs to be repaired. I'm using my other laptop for school to write this but since my other laptop is about 4 years old, I don't know how long it will be until I can use it again or if I will ever be able to use it again. I will update when I find out.

Another thing, I may not be able to update when I find out. I'm getting worse, my illness is making me sick almost every day and I don't know how long I will be like this.

Hmm...

So.. I've been using TSR for years. Been debating on putting up custom sims and object recolors (Really, my best custom sim work came from TS2, body shop and all of that). I was hoping sims 3 would have come with a body shop tool, hoping to remake my awesome sims 2 sims into sims 3 citizens.. *Sigh* I mean, sims 3 is great and all, but it doesn't have the flexibility that sims 2 offered when it came to making sims. I am greatful, don't get me wrong, that I do not have to go through an entire SimPE + Photoshop trip to get new looks for furniture, but honestly... It's like we've traded out the ability to make awesome and unique sims for the ability to make your furniture truly fit the schemes of your houses. Important, yes, as I don't really play the sims to PLAY, I play the sims to create within the bounds of the content editors incorporated within the game and custom content.
Like I've said, been thinking of uploading my own custom sims, trying to cut back on the amount of custom content used with them... I know not everyone is a fan of hacks like sliders and such.. I will have to strip my sims down and redress them, hopefully I can market them without having to use the mass of custom items that have made them appealing to me, in the first.. Such as the make up, the hair, the clothing, THE SLIDERS, and so on and so forth. Dunno..

Well... I am not expecting a -huge- gathering of people to gawk over sims that can be made if they do as much fiddling with the game that I have, but I hope someone other than myself and my seven year old will be able to appreciate my sims like we have.

Woo! Nothing is better than being a noob. Now, what do I want with TSR...Oh besides getting all the free stuff for the Sims 3 which I'm surprised has actually got some cool content. Yes I want to make Anime people on the Sims 3...I searched high and low for some sign of a genius's awesome power at using TSR to create something amazing like DBZ people.

Sadly like I have posted in the forums I have no freaking clue how to use TSR to make clothing...or hair...or anything......>_>

They're COLUMNS!

I haven't received any "can't find them' comments yet, but realising that some will download the first castle set from the main page (which won't show the detailed description), I thought I'd best tell you that the castle towers are COLUMNS. 

If you place a floor tile on top of the column, it is concealed in the tower, but it makes the tower stackable without using any build cheats.  This also applies to the quarter columns of course, and it also makes them walkable by Sims (should you need an extra corner tile on your rooftop).

Dec. 11th, Sims 3 Vanity Fair Collection

My first Sims 3 Victorian inspired set is scheduled for publication on December 11th. The Vanity Fair collection is a mini-set of bedroom furnishings. The collection features a canopy bed with 4 recolorable parts, a gold accented chaise, bench seating, a nightstand, 2 versions of vintage curtains, and a trio of pictures. 

What's New!

I am working on a little boy's bedroom set with a nautical theme. I hope to release the set before Christmas. This set is an ambitious project, as I am creating models for both Sims 2 and Sims 3. Wish me luck! I've already created the Sims 2 packages and the set is "looking good." LOL, I can't wait to see it in the Sims 3 game!

So I don't know if I'm any good at making homes on The Sims 3 or not, but I suppose since I have nothing better to do I might build some homes. I don't think I will furnish them, because I think I should probably be getting something on here soon. I have some screenshots but I don't know what good that is.. Anyways, off to go build.

Going's on

Hi all.

I just wanted to make an update as to what's going on lately.

Firstly, I'm working on something that I think I'll submit when I'm done, maybe in the new year.

Secondly, the operation wasn't successful.  My arm will apparently never recover, I'm one of those "one chance in a million" that end up stiffening so much that there is no chance of recovery, only worsening.

Thirdly, love is in the air.  I'm currently caught in a love triangle.  It's strange having two men fight so fiercely over me.  I wish I could make it stop, but I'm not sure how.  I don't want to be too forward with either of them in fear that I may scare them off, which wouldn't do me any good.  Anyways, it's a long, long tale.

Creating for The Sims 3

I was trying to do some dresses for The Sims 3 but when almost done I realized that my Photoshop is to old for what I wanted /needed to do. So I tryed opening a newer version but then I remembered that my dad told me he changed some stuff on the computer so my graphic programs might not work and guess what? They didn't work!

Now I'm waiting for my dad to get home so he can change the settings back to normal. I would do it myself if I knew what the f he changed but yeah.

Welll hopefully something will be uploaded here soon.

Tombs and Castles

I am currently working on some tombs (complete with hidden doors, switches, traps and treasure) I'm basing them on community and residential lots.

Also, thanks to the new castle exterior set EA have brought out I am hoping to be able to finish the castle which I started during the summer!! I might add a nectar cellar now that I have the basement tool.

WHOOPSY... I MADE A BOOBOO

AS you might have noticed, on my New Set (Pezaz_Monokini) I have made the mistake of Titling the GREEN swimsuit as BLUE on the Banner that runs down the side... Please dont get confused... always read the Info so you know exactily what it is... Thats my fault for not having the pictures set to Thumbnail and only relying on the name of the picture, I should ALWAYS check them, lol... BUt Forgive me, I was excited about posting them!!

Anyway, enjoy the new swimsuit and I hope the "downloaders" out there realise the mistake and that it doesnt confuse them too much

My History with creating

I began creating for the sims in the fall of 2007 in order to have something to do, because I stay at home all the time (I don't work) my very first upload was submitted to modthesims on the 23rd of September, 2007. It was a very simple little house, and looking back on it, I'm suprised it made it through the strict moderation queue over there. It's actually still available on modthesims, it's called "Sweet Home In Alabama". It's been a rough start for me as a creator, since I didn't have anything else to do, I created all day, and all night every day and night. I didn't really have the neccessary skills in those early days to put forth good quality custom content. So I would totally spam up modthesims with anything and everything I could think of. So, after about I think 6 months of doing that, the good people at mts decided to put me on upload restriction. But there's good news to that! That's how I discovered TSR! So I came to TSR and at first I thought the moderation queue was going to be just as strict as mts, but I was pleasantly suprised that they approved nearly everything I submitted. You see this is what I like about TSR, they allow you to use their site as testing ground for your skills. If you are untalented at first, you can keep trying, and eventually, you will have much better results. Now most people would have just given up ever creating custom content again after about the 5th rejection on mts, but not ME! I'm persistant! So I came to TSR and uploaded soooo much, I had nearly 2,000 uploads in the course of about 6 months! this huge amount of uploading and practicing day and night, really honed my skillls to a higher level. I may not be a perfect creator now, but it's safe to say, you will not see anymore 'crap' from me in the future. I strive to bring you the best custom content that I am able to make. Over the years I've really learned a lot of cool tricks in gimp photo editor, and simPE, Homecrafter Plus, and now TSR workshop, and I'm learning something new everyday, truly. Being able to create for these 3 years + has made me I think more intellegent, and creative. I hope you all enjoy alll of my creations, even the old 'crappy' ones if just for a jovial laugh. Thanks to TSR for your continued support. I am a donator to TSR, and I willl continue to donate as long as FA are around. Which is going to be for a very, very long time.

My little boy

Haven't posted for a while so this is a quick update before Christmas. Life in the Cadiva household goes on pretty much the same. James has us running ragged but he's so cute he gets away with it. We have a busy life with either people visiting or us going out to mum and baby groups.

He's rapidly approaching his second birthday in March and I can't believe where the time has gone. It seems like he's always been around and part of our lives and I couldn't conceive of life without him. Hopefully he'll have a brother or sister in the not too distant future and then our little family will be complete.

5 pieces of clothing incoming sometime today...

Hey guys!

Sorry I have been so quiet for the best part of nearly a week now, but been really busy sorting out Christmas and I haven't even had time to go on Sims 3 in three days now so far! LOL! It's just been one thing after another!

I have made 5 pieces of clothing at points over the last week and I am aiming to submit them at some time today and get them approved overnight. It's just been finding the time to upload them!

Christmas, Comments, and Free Items

Hi everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the Holiday season so far!

To start with, I'm sure most of you have seen "TSR XMas Market" sets/items appearing on the site. So far my contribution to it has been a set of pine trees to help decorate around the market and add a little scenery. I am, however, also working on some of the stalls to be part of the main market - at the moment the two I'm doing are Christmas Stocking Stall, and a normal decorated Christmas Tree Stall (Decorated trees as well as plain ones, ornaments etc). The set of trees that I have so far has been marked as a free item, as will be the two stalls I just mentioned (and everything that goes with them), in addition to everything else that other artists are making for this massive set. The set in its entirety will be free - from the point of publishing until, well, forever - every part by every artist as sort of a "gift" to all of you.

On a slightly more personal note - I have chosen to mark a few of my sets as free for the Holiday season as a gift to you all. Since I thought that my Dead Trees from Halloween match rather well with my Christmas Trees, I have set them to free until January 2nd. Think of them as sort of an extension onto my XMas Market Trees. I've also set my Christmas Wreaths as free until January 6th.

Lastly, while looking over some of comments I have recieved - specifically on my Pulled Back Ponytail - almost 1/3rd of the comments on there are in regards to it being a subscriber item rather than being free. These kinds of comments are tiresome and really quite annoying for me to have to waste my time reading, and not to mention - they are against the rules. As of now I just ignore them, in the future though I will simply delete them. I'm sorry that it upsets you that it is a subscriber item - but it IS a subscriber item, plain and simple. If you are too young to subscribe, do not wish to subscribe, can't afford it, or whatever your reason is - there is an alternative: Kudos. Some people seem to think they are lame and stupid, but for ever 7500 of these "lame and stupid" points, you can trade them in for a free subscriber day - 24 hours of completely unlimited downloading of ANY and EVERYTHING on TSR in that time. At any rate though, because it is the Holidays after all, I have set that hair to free until January 6th as well.

A HUGE thank-you to all of you who do leave me comments (of the not-free-complaint variety), I really do enjoy reading them and find them very inspiring to keep creating - even if I don't have time to respond to all of them, know that your comments are appreciated!

UPCOMING: LOTS AND LOTS OF LOTS!

Yeah. I Know. I have been awfully SILENT lately. Lots of things happened: Computer had to be reformatted, which means the lots tat should've been released 1-2 weeks ago were all... *POOF* GONE. ERASED. So you all know that I have to START OVER. AGAIN. Which is actually a bit annoying considering Lots take a LOT of time ti build. *sigh*. ANYWAYS. No use sulking around. I have modern lots in the making and to be released NEXXXXT WEEEEEK!!!!! I'm back for good people. HEHEHEHE!!!!! No previews for now. I want this to be a SURPRISE. HAHA. But knowing me, you probably know what these lots will look like, right?

Sorry about missing comments :-(

I've now uploaded the three Castle Lore sets.  AGAIN.

I'd already uploaded the sets the first time around and then realised that all three sets were missing some items...

The first set was fine until I figured that it might be helpful to those of you who hate the CAST tool to include the three castle-matching wallpapers I've used for the castle block and stone colours of the meshes. The second set was missing the coat-of-arms banners.  I'd just left it out of the zip.  The third set was uploaded before I realised that I hadn't thought about a two-tile Gothic arch!  Doh!  So I quickly made one of those and, being an additional item, meant again recreating the set.

And all this meant I needed to delete the old sets.  No problem, I would reply to the comments already there first (and I have been able to do that for sets 2 and 3), but I somehow lost the first before I'd had chance to reply.  I kmow there were 2-3 comments left on that set that I hadn't replied to - and I'm really very sorry to those who left the comments.  I wish I could get them back.

100,000 Downloads

Oh my!  I can't believe that my creations have hit over 100,000 dowloads.  I never would have expected this.  I have only begun creating for the Sims3 in Aug of this year.  I would like to thank everyone who has downloaded my creations.  Thank you to all!  I really appreciate all of the wonder comments and encourgement that you have so freely given to me.  Without you I probably would not still be doing this.  I love to share with you my creations and as long as you like my work I will continue.  Thank you to TSR for the hosting and support.

Not Much Creating

Not had much time to create anything these past couple of months - I started my A-levels (!)

However, there is a HUGE amount of things that i finished WEEKS ago but haven't uploaded... They should be accepted in a couple of weeks and features some of my BEST work yet! Hope you enjoy! Happy siming!

Just wondering about how long approval takes

I'm just wondering how long approval process usually takes for sims 3 uploads.  I've got a couple that have been pending for 3 or 4 days now. Previous uploads have been approved within 24 hours.  Is this time frame variable? Any answers would be appreciated.

Al-Simhara

While Abbey and Skye Hampton are working on improving their skills and earning money for another adventure, intrepid new traveller Lyssia Greville has departed on the way to Al-Simhara.  She had an action packed adventure in the depths of the sphynx.  I will continue to upload my screen shots and update the blog as I find newer and greater adventures with the new expansion pack.

Pin-ups upcoming

I've got a couple of upcoming sets based off Classic Pin-up Paintings of the 40's-60's,  most of the art used is by Gil Elvgren.

I'm a huge fan of this particular style of art (make of that what you will) an consider Elvgren the best of the genre.  Sets currently done are traditional posters, and some done unto guitars. These should be up in a couple of days at most (assuming tsr approval)

Seeking wrong end

Of errors occurring in some of Victoria Garden 47, which the house was invisible, could not be localized. It has been tested with all possible variants and the errors occurred while no one. Now I do not know what people in question are all in the game, but something which causes this error. I'm sorry for not having found the errors, but apparently he does not occur again.

I hope you have fun with my houses still remain.

fifth post - long time no see/read/write

Well, it's been a few months.... 

To cut a long story short, I've started the IB and it's a LOT of work, so that is the reason why I haven't been that active over the past months. I'm really sorry for all the nice people who leave such nice comments (THANK YOU) but I just don't have the time to write back. Still, I am really happy that people like what I produced and I am grateful for that! 

All of this means: UNDETERMINED BREAK FROM SUBMITTING (not that I've submitted much ;))

Just one last, rather random thing: Finding book titles for S3 books

I have a lot of sims who are authors and who also write a lot of books, so pretty soon, I ran out of inspiration for new titles. So I developed several strategies for making up new ones.

1) Look around your room/the place you play the sims. Look for interesting things. Book titles can be single words ("The Lamp"), several ones ("Tins on a Shelf"), sentences ("Don't touch the Mask") or "and" constructions ("High Heels and Ukuleles"). However, you know most of the objects in your room, so sometimes this doesn't help.

2) Grab the book nearest to you. Now. Turn to page 56. Find the 5th sentence. Use that. Or parts of it. 

3) Go to Wikipedia.org. In the margin on the left, there's a button called "random article". Click on that until you find something interesting ("Yssingeaux mon amour", "Lemon Sharks")

4) This is my favourite. If you have an iPod touch or iPhone, download a Hangman application (there's loads of free ones). Choose single player. The programme will automatically choose a random word, will it not. You don't even have to guess properly, just get to know the word. Do that repeatedly until you find something good. My app even lets me choose whether I want an adjective or a noun etc. That helps when I want a specific construction. ("The Silver Apricot", "Supplementary Submarines", "Thundering Sprout", "Gothic Coconut")

Alternative: If you have a person with too much time at your disposal, play Hangman with them. Or just tell 'em to say random words. 

5) Pictures. You have to be a bit more imaginative with this one. Look at your own photos or browse flickr or similar sites. Imagine that the picture is a snapshot taken at some point in the story. What happened before? What happened later? 

6) Use real book titles. It's a bit lame, but it can be fun (Harry Potter completely flopped with my sims) and it's kind of cool when your sims can buy the same books as you. 

Those are the main methods that I use when I run out of ideas. I know it sounds a bit extreme to go through all of this just to find a book title, I mean, after all it's just a game. However, if you do it, you might as well do it properly. And the listed methods can be very entertaining and inspirational in themselves.
