The Sims 3 - Hands on

I'm going to be attending a Sims 3 "hands on" preview event this Wednesday, so if you have any questions about the game this is the time to ask.

In particular, I will be focusing on the open neighbourhood feature of the game, so I will mostly be answering questions about that. If you have questions about other aspects of the game, feel free to ask me, but also ask them here because then the people attending the events who are focusing on other features will see them and try to answer those for you.

I'll try to respond to as many questions as I can, so please post them as comments to this blog, or in my guestbook, or PM me. And of course, when I get back on Wednesday evening I'll be making a full blog post with my first impressions of the game.

New Hood project

Astoundingly, I just now stumbled upon this blog feature. I always assumed you had to spend kudos to get it, but couldn't figure out why the blog feature wasn't in the kudo store!.

I know a handful of you have bookmarked me so I thought it would be in order to mention that I'm coming up for air with my castle & mansion series and exploring some variations on a Victorian / Mansard theme. The new building tools & objects in M & G lend to some really grat looking buildings!  I've called it Glen Eden, the namesake of which is taken from an actual estate that used to be owned by friends of my grandparents. It's located right next to an enchanting little clusted of cotteges called Glenora, situated on the west side of Seneca Lake of the Fingerlakes in Upstate New York. I'm not sure Glenore is even on the map but if you find Penn Yan, go south-east-east to the lake and there you have it.

The sim Glen Eden will have a number of residences, businesses, community, and institutuinal lots...I hope. That is if I can maintain interest in it, and if human existence doesn't bear down too heavily on me with the warmer weather coming. Two things I consistantly struggle with. I already have 7 houses and 1 community lot designed. I just have to do the interiors which comes harder for me than the exteriors.

And yes, I will return to the castles at some point, but they are so danged complicated I just need to do some lighter stuff. You other artist types will be able to relate.

Not exactly what I saw . . .

I finished a set of walls based on what I had seen on TV last week.  Its not exactly what I saw, but it was inspired by it. I hope you like them! 

I like doing walls and floors and I like doing meshes, but I am not really very good at making new textures for clothing.  Its the shading that kills me every time! I am quite critical about that and very hard on myself. I've never created any objects yet . . . (starting tutorial search!)

I hope that I will be able to create items for Sims 3 when it comes out.  I can't wait for it to come out!

James' first birthday

Well, I can't believe it but my son James is a year old today, where has the time gone? So far he's had three temper tantrums today and is currently in his play pen having a whinging paddy. All this because he didn't sleep properly last night and was awake at 4am this morning!

His dad and me have  bought him a garage for his birthday, which has failed to arrive yet from the Early Learning Centre, so big epic fail on their part for that as they said it would up up to four days delivery. I noticed when I went to look for a present for another one of James' baby friends that the garage is now showing up as out of stock so mine better arrive tomorrow or else!

He hasn't got loads of things, a couple of all in ones, some jigsaw puzzles, a gorgeous batick blanket from his grandpapa and a wooden rattle from his aunty El all the way from New Zealand, my parents have bought him some Premium Bonds - lets hope they come up with the million pound prize then! He got money to go in his savings account - when we finally get round to opening one up for him and his Uncle Richard bought him some vouchers for Next, so he can get some lovely new posh clothes.

Backrow expanded

I am working on some lots to go with my Backrow Workhouse. Right now I have a pub, tailor and butcher shop and a cemetery. I have some more ideas and are working on them right now. They will be ready for uploading soon so keep an eye out

UPDATES!!!

First of all, some news:

My laptop is not working again... and I have decided that I will buy a new one, which could take some time. So for now, all my creations are on hiatus... annoying, yes, but take light on the fact that I will still be creating sims 2 stuff before the sims 3 starts to dominate the world!

About Sims 3:

I just pre-ordered a Collector's Edition last night! It was expensive, but I guess it was worth it! I also hope that the delay of the release date of this game will ensure that there will be less bugs in the game... even better, I hope there will be ZERO bugs!

Anyways, the series I am working on involves BASEGAME homes, so expect more of those basegame homes sooner or later. This could also be my last Sims 2 LOTS set... but who knows?

About THE BLACK STATUE part 6:

Don't worry about it! I might as well keep on doing it in Sims 2 and finish it using Sims 2 (Unless, of course, The Sims 3 will provide ideal features and content for me to do it there). DO NOT WORRY. The story will be finished! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Anyways, I miss creating! School is almost over but my laptop is no more, so maybe I just have to wait a little longer before I can go back to creating!

Introduction

I just wanted to say hello to anyone who might stumble along my page. I've finally been able to get a computer to be able actually play Sims2 and I'm way excited that I can. I like playing the Sims2 because it's a great distraction from having Fibromyalgia, which is a chronic pain and fatigue syndrome and there are days and some nights that I hurt too much, I can start up the game and play for a while. My favorite parts of the game are decorating places and creating Sims. I can spend an hour, sometimes more making a Sim.

Anyways, I just wanted to thank all the wonderful creators out there who help me forget about the pain for a while and live out stories and adventures.

Well blast it!

Naturally in the process of updating and correcting my meshes I end up having "old" and "new" versions of things on my system and I am not the brightest of people these days, so YET AGAIN! I have managed to upload the wrong version of an item.

This time it's the BEOS 5000 CPU - the version uploaded is the original "pre-updated" version and won't take the recolours - I am sending a PM to the staff to bump that particular item into the rejected bin so I can change the package file to the new and updated version.

The Tape Reader and Printer are fine, only the CPU is wonky.

It will take a day or so to correct the file, and I apologise for the inconvenience, but all will be set to rights as soon as possible.

Feeling like crap....yet still creating

Hi everybody ~Happy Sunday! It was a beeeauutiful day here is SW Ontario .. a gorgeous PLUS 14 ! YIPEE! At one point this afternoon the hubby and I took the doggie to the dog park for 2 entire hours - but it was nice out and the park was packed ~ everyone AND their dog was there - HAHA.

However I have been feeling really yuck alll weekend. On Friday i had 2 cleaning clients ... I cleaned the first house and then whilst driving to the second one i ate my lunch - a banana, some raisins and some cheese strings . When i was finished about 5 minutes after eating I began to get horrible pain in my abdomen. Pain somewhat similar to the pain I had had twice before in the past 6 weeks... where i was in excruciating pain after eating chinese food one time - the other time pizza. On friday the pain was so bad I had to go home and lay down. I have felt awful ever since and cannot eat anything wihtout feeling ill...and my gallbladder feels tender and swollen. I was supposed to go for an ultrasound 3 weeks ago for gallstones but i have been so busy that i didnt go. But tommorrow I HAVE to go! So even with all the other crap in my life - hubby , kids , finances etc .. now I am dealing with this!

Despite the nausea and pain i have been creating this weekend though.. pretty much cuz i dont have the energy to do anything more than sit here. After finally eating some plain rice today i had the energy for abit to take my dog to the dog park. I am now wiped out and nauseous again though.

So what did i accomplish this weekend? Three houses so far, a bunch of build item recolors, and some furniture recolors. I have sooo much to upload now.. that whats i will be doing the remainder of this evening!

Please pray for me okay? Pray I feel better - as this week i have a FULL work week as everything is crammed into 4 days as my hubby has a pain specialist appt in Toronto ( well over an hour away from here) on Friday and it will be an all day affair. PLUS I have to clean the house i didnt clean on friday because of the attack. I dont have the energy for it but we desperately need the money . Last week was our 16 yr olds sons bday and Saturday was PrincessMooMoo's 11 th bday. That cost us alot of cash those 2 birthdays! Now we are broke so I MUST go back to work!

When you are looking at a screen cap, pay close attention to the details. 

I don't mean just random details, like pictures.

Don't be distracted by pictures and AV.  I mean the basic details like fonts, line shapes, size and color.

My first apartment complex

I am going thur a stage where i want to expand myself lol. i did a 2 story apartment complex with 4 apartments and a penthouse suite.. It looks alot like my other creations expect the apartments, each apartment is different and has a different theme. I probably upload some screen shots..and also my new lot coming up Sinful Lust is my second loft house but its more modern and its a bacholor pad.

Hey Everyone, I'm Lily, or as my username foretells, LillianCullen. If it hasn't been obvious, then I am a Huge fan of Twilight. I have been continuously compared to Alice, though I love Rosalie as well so I used her middle name as my other Alice, Lily is a shortened form of her middle name and a name I have been using in remembrance of Harry Potter's Lily Potter (May she rest in peace).

I am new, I love sims so this is nice place for me to get new stuff for the awesome game.

Amelia Halter Tops

Recently, I was asked to make some re-colours of the Flounce Halter from my Tuxedo Tops set. I've come up with seven new variations in a range of feminine pastel shades.



Some of these tops come with a pretty floral wrist band based on the Maxis necklace that originally came with the top on which they are based. The rest come with a pretty white lace wrist band.

The top on which this set is based comes from the University expansion pack and was originally available for young adults only. I've converted them to also work for adults, but University is still required for the tops to show up in your game.

HEY! I have good news for you guys; I will submit the new Marimekko wallpapers today! I have to take a pic for the set and then they're ready. I've made also carpet floors (not carpets, just a flooring... I mean it's a floor that works as a carpet) ;) and a little add for the Pure colours -family. I'll submit them here soon. :D

A Head's Up

...well, well. I haven't been as active as I used to be, and I have missed that. I've missed all of you. I've missed recoloring...erm, I've missed the fun in recoloring, actually. The fun in playing...the fun in the community. Pretty basically...I've been all kinds of out of sorts. I am back now. Feeling better...working harder to improve.

My pain is less frequent and less severe, and each day of this...I am thankful. I recently overcame a cyst about 3 inches wide on my right ovary, as well as having it hemmorhage (bleeding internally) as well. After some emergency room visits and ultrasounds, I believe it's gone...for now. I'm told it will keep coming back until they take it out. There won't be anymore surgeries any time soon, knock on wood. Because the next surgery will be one that takes my ovaries with it, and honestly...at 22, I don't think I'm ready for that.

I think that I've made it back to where I want to be as far as my recoloring goes. I have learned some new tricks, I'm taking more time...I am working on getting better at what I love. I think I've come a long way...and as long as you all keep downloading, I'll keep recoloring. I think it's a fair enough deal.

Oh, let's not forget the Andretti's...the beloved Andretti's...with the Sims 3 release push back, I can't spit out chapters any faster. I need the timing to be close enough so that the story follows as planned as they move into Sunset Valley.  ...now, there's a teaser...isn't it?!

Well, I just wanted to give you all a head's up...so, head's up!

FINALLY!!!!!

My God!  It is finally done!  Those of you who have followed my lots in the past may think that I have retired as of late...WELL YOUR WRONG!  :P :)  HaHa!  I have actually been very busy, and using all of my free time (of which there is very little) to finish the same lot.  The Cresley Apartments (there will be both a furnished and unfurnished version) were actually finished back in November of 2008, however, funishing them has been a SERIOUS hassle.  I eventually uploaded the unfurnished version to the site on January 25 2009, thinking that I would soon have the furnished lot done.  Boy was I WRONG!  Here we are today, almost two months later, and the furnished version is done, uploaded, and (both furnished and unurnished lots) have been submited.  :D Anyways, there are preview photos at the bottom of the page. I hope that you all like the lot!

P.S.  I actually have MANY lots ready for submition, I just have to take preview photos etc.  If anyone has any special requests for future lots, be sure to let me know! :D

I've made new Marimekko wallpapers, "Norrsken", in three different colors (black, green and white). I will submit them someday to here. I haven't made new painting recolors, wich is a shame... I would have to download simpe again, but then the sims2pack clean installer wouldn't work... : / so I can't "clean" houses then... (when I clean a house, all items in it become 'empty packages') don't know why this happens but it's caused by simpe. That's all this time.

Hello!

Just here to let you know that I've been working hard to finish Episode One which I've title "Take a Chance on Love" I'm at least half-way finished. But I'm wondering..does anyone know what happens when you disable "special events camera" (or w/e its called) ?? Do the sims still do the same motions that they would do in the video w/o the video? Does that make sense? (lol)

Hmm also, i have 3689 KUDOS..on my way to 4000 so I can get a banner and a poll...thanks for the help everyone!!

oh..before i forget to ask..can i edit my screenshots in a story after Ive uploaded them to TSR? like..I can edit my screenshots before uploading them but i save them to a different location on my computer..not in the sims folder. all help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Vision

I'm sure that at some point some of you are going to wonder what's up with all the Panorama windows, why so many. So I thought I'd share the 'vision' I have been working towards, lol.

As some may have noticed I've been a little obsessed with shops and shopping stuff recently. Well my end goal has always been to build a big shopping complex/mall. And somewhere I saw a photo of this pyramid of square windows that I thought was cool and wanted to make for my project. And so it begins, the Panorama Retail Complex!

This example used the 3 row single, 3 row single right corner, 3 row single left corner, and upcoming single bottom and middle/bottom windows. I also want to be able to make it upside down too, 1 at the bottom and spreading out towards the top. :)

I have also almost finished the Spaced Electronics set, which includes TV, In-Ceiling Speaker (stereo) and 3 In-Wall Speakers (stereos) top, middle and bottom that have all been positioned to work well with the Panorama windows.

Still in the works for Panorama collection: Scrapped the first door idea, didn't work but have another idea to try. Curtains/blinds. Had possible fencing idea/s. Wall to wall shelving that sits level with windows type idea. I really need a modern looking fountain for the front of the complex. And of course more windows, lol

Different project . . . lots of frustration!

I was watching TV the other day and saw these walls that I just loved! I am trying to recreate them for the game.  I was working on it all day yesterday, and lost all of the files I had saved.  I have no idea where the files went. 

Needless to say, I was a bit frustrated, but I am back to working on these walls.  Hopefully, it won't take too much longer to get back what was lost. Then I can share it with all of you!

 So, it is back to work for me!

Birch Tree Sets

I've uploaded two birch tree sets. One for Seasons and the other one for Base game. :) The features:

• Seasons compatible set: The trees change their appearance with seasons and weather
• Base Game compatible set: 3 recolors to mimic seasons
  
• Correct display in neighborhood view (like the Maxis trees)
• Repository technique: You only have to recolor the BASE birch to have recolors for all birches
  
• Low-poly

Classic Floral

In the same line as my Floral Wallpaper and Border set I have uploaded a Classic Black and White version and a Silver version. More of a classy look for your distinguised sims. 

I kinda stumbled across the silver version as I was creating the black and white so I would appreciate any comments on that one! :lol:

TIG METRO WINDOWS

I thought I would add the link to the master file mesh to the METRO window by Tiiggy 27 over at Mod the Sims. Those are the big modern windows that i use in quite a few of my lots. If anyone is having a problem with these windows flashing blue then that means for some reason the master is not included in the lot ( but it should be) If that is the case you need to download the master mesh . I apologize from the heart for any inconvenience to any downloaders who are experieincing problems with my lots. I certainly hate that!! It is  my intent  always for people to enjoy my creations not be aggravated by them!! In future lots i will take great care to make sure that i include any master mesh links needed for build items.. they should be included in the file but just in case there ends up being a glitch for some reason ( as that does happen from time to time) that way people can easily get the main mesh and get down to the business of playing SIMS!

I Can't Wait Until My Computer is Up and Running Again Take Two

Well  not only was my hard drive borked but, I am having some problems involving missing SATA Drivers that are preventing my computer from booting  up even enought to re-install XP. My sisters boyfriend who is a software engineer and work on PC's and Macs is going to take a look at it when he and my sister get back from Boston.  She would fix it but she is more familiar with Macs when it comes to software issues and has only ever dealt with the hardware problems common to PC's I have a laptop but the problem is that I cannot install any of the EP's /SP's that are not digital downloads from the EA Store as my disc drive is messed up on the laptop. This means that I will not be back into creating until at least the end of next week and that is if my sisters boyfrinend cannot fix it and it has to go to the local computer repair shop I may not be creating again until the end of the month or the beginning of April. I also did not grab my three most recent lots for submission off the computer before my hard drive crashed and the new one is installed. It stinks seriously because I had three community lots, a restaurant, a gym, and a Ice/Roller Skating Rink/Recreation Center ready to go for my Paradise Island series. Arghhh!!! This is so frustratin, luckily I hada back up of my downloads because I never deleted them off of my hard drive after I installed them in my downloads folder. So all of the really cool stuff I have found for Build,Buy and Bodyshop Modes is safe - Thank God because at least when it comes to my hairs from SAU, and Helga the sites are gone at least temporarily and anyone who is hosting their stuff until they are up and running again (if ever) have also closed down. Which means a lot of my favorite hairs would have been gone - for good. I am aggravated with this. I wanna play with M&G darn it!!!

I so can't wait for the new Sims3 to come out.. One thing I can say is that I have it already paid for one of the perks of being an Asst Mgr for Game Stop.. Well anyone can do it too.. but instead of putting $5.00 on it to put it on hold. I wanted to just pay for it so all I have to do is walk in and pick it up and run home and play play play...

Complaints PLEASE READ

I had someone pm me tonite . They had pm'd two days ago I guess about some windows flashing blue and I hadnt gotten back to them yet today. i was having some trouble getting into my dashboard to check comments and pms. Also i have been very busy with work , my sons 16th birthday party and my upcoming daughters 11th party. Life has been hectic and I have been very tired . Anyways this person was VERY rude to me.. about me not getting back to them. Did they ever consider that maybe i have been busy and never saw the first PM? And if they are having a problem why do they have to be nasty to me. Gessh - its only a video game!!!!!!!

So i want to make this very clear to anyone reading this. If you have a problem with any of my creations .. by all means pm me.. and I will try to help.BUT PLEASE BE KIND! I am a person who has feelings... i am not perfect and I am a new creator therefore I may have mistakes in my creations. I am a wife with a disabled husband who has no less than 3 doctors appointments a week for his back injury plus physio appts on top of those. I work full time cleaning houses and am usually sore and tired when i get home. I have 4 kids 17, 16, 13 and 11... who have problems of their own that mom has to help with.. besides problems with relationships and friends and schoolwork and etc. I have to clean my house when I get home , do laundry, run errands ( as my hubby cant drive anymore) do the shopping and the cooking and walk the dog. I have a life outside of TSR!!!

Most people are very nice to me if they have a problem. They will get a response from me when I see their pm. RUDE PEOPLE can expect no response from me. If it continues then maybe I will just pack it in and not bother creating anymore at all.

The reason i share my stuff here is to enhance other peoples games. I dont get paid for this. I dont get paid for the hours and hours i put in to building lots or recoloring . I do it FOR FREE. It is supposed to be fun for the downloaders and for me too. I dont appreciate people being mean to me. My god its just a video game and its not like people have to pay for my creations -- THEY ARE FREE.

Enuff said.

Sundresses to be published Thursday

I hope those who download them will enjoy dressing their sims in them--often!  And I think I will do another set of dresses next--but we shall see-- because I may just change my mind--it depends on whether or not I run into a set of furniture I feel compelled to recolor or not!  ;)    ( or it may depend on how many downloads I get on those sundresses!)  :D

Some Updates for March!

First off, I completely overlooked adding a blog entry of my last uploads at the beginning of the month. Since I like to have an entry for all my uploads with pics I'll include some pics at the end of this post.

Now for the current updates. I know a while back I said I probably wouldn't recolor anymore clothing but Cali95677 sent a very sweet message and requested some PJs for elders. It was a simple enough request but since most of the elder clothing that maxis offers isn't that great looking I decided to use an adult outfit. So I chose the adult pajama outfit from Glamour Life and recat it for adults and elders. I also decided to do some solid matching recolors of the male outfit and recat that to include elders too. I did solids for the males because some of the prints just didn't look right. Anyway, here's a pic below.

I'm also working on the robe outfits from Kitchen & Bath for children, teens, and adults/elders. So keep an eye out for those. I'll probably have them up starting at the beginning of April. I'm flying back home next week and will be gone for two weeks so I won't be able to finish them until I get back.

I recolored this door frame mainly because I used the columns in the Newport Cove lot and I wanted to have it on the site incase anyone needed to reupload it the future.

Padre333 has dropped his three 3s to become padre. I have gone through a little mourning period having dropped my 3s and tug© will testify to that (and she thinks I am silly for it - and she's absolutely right), but now I am just plain ole padre.
