More Cube lots...

It's been a while but (at last!) I have a new series of Cube lots coming out. As well as the Cube Duplex set out today, I've got several other lots in varying stages of completion.

The next up is Cube No1. (set for release on the 2nd October):



It's built as a series of interlocking cubes but is still very playable.

Next up is a rather large looking apartment block - it's actually built on a 3x3 lot so it's not quite as ginormous as it looks!!



I also have another, smaller apartment lot in the works - this one's on a 3x1:





I've got to run, but I'll try and nip back later and add a few more pics.

Don't have all the EPs for a lot? Read on...

The Maxis Installer that comes with AL will let you install lots for which you don't have all the required EPs. This has worked for me; I've been able to install lots requiring Uni, NL and OFB on a PC running only NL, OFB and AL.

I recently had a PM from a TSR member who has been able to install the Pirate Cove hotel, in spite of only having some of the required EPs (including Bon Voyage - the last EP required for that lot). In the hope that it might help others who don't have all the EPs, I thought I'd bump this section of my blog again.

I wrote the information here just after Pets was released. Clean Installer is still an option for those on a PC (Method 2) but I don't know if Method 1 works with Seasons or Bon Voyage in the same way that it did with Pets. Please let me know if it does.

Installing Lots for which you do not have all the EPs:

There are two possible ways to install lots for which you don't have all the EPs. Please back up your data if you're trying either of these methods for the first time (although I haven't heard of any problems so far). But I don't want to be held responsible for any problems with your game, ok?!

METHOD 1: If you have Pets installed, you should be able to use the Maxis Installer to install ANY lot, whether or not you have the correct EPs. This works for both Macs and PCs. Of course, items from the EPs you DON'T have will be missing. So, if you don't have the correct windows, the building won't have windows. Same goes for furniture. With doors, it seems that the game will replace them with a door from the base game.

METHOD 2: If you don't have Pets but are using a PC, you can use Clean Installer to install lots for which you have the last EP. That is, if a lot requires Uni, NL and OFB, as long as you have OFB, the lot should install for you. Once again, items from the EPs you DON'T have will be missing.

I hope that helps some of you who've contacted me wishing you could install a certain lot for which you don't have the EPs. My thanks to Cyclonesue and Moonlit Maiden for their major contributions to this info!

Update

Sorry I've been away for so long. My life has taken quite a turn since I was last here. I started homeschooling my kids again, and about a month into it, I found out that my husband was having an affair and wants a divorce. I haven't really worked in 9 years, so I've been trying to find a job and I've enrolled my kids in school. It's been a heartbreaking couple of weeks.

I've pushed myself so hard this past week that I've made myself sick. Lupus + Stress = Un-mixy things. So, I've been fighting a ton of different things. It's also made my ulcer go all wonky, and I've been unable to really eat anything.

The week before I found out about the affair, I found out that I have hemochromatosis and will have to go in twice a week for theraputic phlebotomy. So, it's been a full couple of weeks.

I will do my best to get some more creations up, but right now I have no inspiration whatsoever, and whatever "free" time I have I spend with my kids or looking for work online.

I went on with the Leyris in the same colour scheme and did the kidsroom. This time I added a Chez Moi-rug (by Phoenix_Phairie), a SimsinParis-rug and a Simtomatic beachhouse curtain plus more walls, floors, bedblankets and decopillows. TC97 TC86

So Little Time

I apologize to all who have commented and left me guest book entries. As you can see I haven't had much time to do anything. Hopefully I'll be getting some new sets out to you soon. Real life keeps getting crazier by the minute. I hope you are all having fun and enjoying your game with no problems.

Hi, you maybe recognized that I was a short time absent. I had a huge exam this summer and that took most of my time, but finally I am back (with some new ideas too). I know I've fallen behind in my thanks and Blog Entries, but I promise to get to them soon. I am currently adjusting and testing in Apartment Life right now, and hopefully will have something cool to show you all soon. :D Wish me luck!

I've been busy!

I've actually been playing the game lately! First I had to set up some teens to get them through Uni (that took me a week) and then into apartments.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about apartment living though. I'm so used to the house thing and wonder if my Sims are saving any money cuz my apartments are (of course) expensive, lol.
I think it's just that you get so used to playing & setting up the game a certain way and I just have to get used to it.

Hurricane Update

I've been getting some messages from people asking how we're holding up with Hurricane Ike. They are still guesstimating about 9 more hours of 100mph winds.

We've got some trees down all over. Some crushing garages, some going through houses, fences ruined...limbs down and on cars. It's bad...

We're in the eye right now, but 2/3 of the hurricane is quickly coming. The 2/3 is the part we worry about it, it's so big and MUCH harder than the previous portions.

We've no power, and hadn't had any for about 4-5 hours. (I'm sitting on my laptop...)

I'll try to keep you all updated...

Cyberman Helmets

It took me a while, but I have finally made some helmets to match the Cyberman skintone Mk 2. They are based on a standard game mesh (the fur hat) so anyone can download them, but there are two majors limitations:

1) They are not the correct "earmuff" shape. I had hoped I could have used the earmuffs from "Seasons", but haven't been able to access them in Bodyshop.

2) Because it is a hat, it can only be worn as everyday hair, and otherwise appears as a standard black hairstyle. Unless you have the option to select different hairstyles with outfits (which requires one of the EPs - possible "Seasons") you might prefer to keep your Cybermen bald.

Minisite!

Only took 2 years to save up for one! I'm still trying to work out how to manage this thing, but hopefully this will be an easier way to post updates. Now, where's the button for polls...

NEW! 'Baby Bee Nursery' - Comments please!

Hi folks! My latest project is something I've been wanting to do for quite a while now, but has always turned out disasterous in the past! But I have persevered, and have finally created my first nursery. 'My Little Bee Nursery' Includes: Crib + bedding Changing Table High Chair Potty Rabbit Head Shape Sorter Curtains (The Rug, Toybox, Walls & Carpets are from 'My Little Bee Bedroom') I'm not totally sure about it - it just doesn't look quite right to me - so I was hoping to get some helpful and HONEST feedback from you! So ANY/ALL comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated - thank you very much! Crabby Mad Cow!

Sorry, I might be a bit slow uploading in the next few weeks. Just started back at College and you probably know what it's like, work work work.

I'm glad to see my Acre Living Set so popular, which is why my next set is going to be an Ikea bedroom.

I've started work on it today so it should be finished soon! :)

1 Million Downloads

Woohoo! Many thanks for your support. We broke through my first million downloads today.

Here we go again...

After serving about 50 people at a party, picking up plums in an orchard, babysitting 3-month-old diaper filler and enduring a 4-hour train ride back, I can finally say - I am back! I hope you all had a great summer (it might not seem like that, but mine was pretty good), and now it is time to get back to studying and free-time simming! At this point, I have to admit I made no new sets for upload, but I decided to publish three new hair meshes I have made some time ago. I did not make textures for them though, but I figured it would be better to publish them and have others give it a try than letting them be "sitting ducks" at my hard drive. I�m really looking forward to see how others interpret them and what kind of different hairstyles are going to "pop up", so get your creative juices flowing and surprise and amaze us all! As for me, I am working on some clothing sets ATM, and you will be the first ones to see them, download them and, hopefully, enjoy them.

Until then, keep simming!

A new poll!

Woot! I know how to introduce excitement!

Market testing, consumer survey, vox populi, opinion poll - whatever you want to call them, have nothing on MY sort of screamingly thrilling poll! No clipboard in sight, no promises to take 'two minutes' of your time then drag you off to imprisonment for several hours whilst asking what on earth would make you buy my stupid unwanted product. No, just a couple of REALLY EXCITING questions about lots with custom content...

I even avoided painfully personal questions for a change!

The main reason for this poll is that I have lately uploaded lots with content that traditionally won't install nicely with the default Maxis installer. If you've downloaded lots, you may have seen this already: items with bad or incorrect textures, windows with the wrong sizw window holes (wall masks) or items that have been replaced by the Maxis object that was originally cloned. Not only do I want to measure what percentage of people use Sims2Pack clean Installer, but also how you prefer your lots to be prepared if you can't use Clean Installer.

The other reason is that I'm simply nosey and like people answering my inane questions.

If you DO download my lots, then if you could spare a couple of seconds to complete the poll in the left-hand menu, that would be great!

Fair Warning

Hurricane Ike (Category 4) is headed straight for me. Should be hitting land sometime tomorrow, so if I am not around for a few days...it is most likely because we've lost power or potentially other things...

We've not been told to evacuate, but they are evacuating some parts of Houston (about an hour's drive from me). Our little town never has to go anywhere actually, but it'll hit us as a Category 4, so who knows? All we ever get is rain and flooding...maybe some wind, but nothing major. You can go to stormpulse.com and see what I'm talking about. I'm a little North of the Houston dot.

I just wanted to give you all a head's up in case I disappear for some time...

Backstreet Place and the Incredible Lie

The first lot of two, Backstreet Place is now released. The installation instructions advised using Sims2Pack Clean Installer to install the lot (and gave a link to this program). And that still applies - IF you can use Sims2Pack Clean Installer...

But what if you can't? My advice is no good at all for Mac users and anyone else who cannot use Sims2Pack Clean Installer, so I've updated the lot's installation instructions to advise on how to install if you cannot use Clean Installer (it simply means you downloading a couple of sets before installing the lot).

My apologies for my usual laziness, untruthfulness and thoughtlessness (and any other 'ness' you can think of adding to the list - like 'gorgeousness' for example...)

If you cannot use Sims2Pack Clean Installer then please download the following items before installing the lot:

Derelict Windows
Rowhouse Slum Windows
Industrial Strength Doors
Castle Ruins (window holes)
Low-level window vent (single item)

Note that the Castle Ruins windows and Low window vent were missing from the 'installation instructions' due to a typo (my apologies). Hopefully, the above will ensure that the lot will install with the standard Maxis installer, but if you run into any problems, be bold, risk my unchecked wrath and let me know! I might even be helpful for a change!

My Computer Died With All my Sims in it!

Last Sunday, my computer died. I was actually loading the Sims 2 when there was a power failure (for no apparent reason) and the power supply when awhole! So there goes my sweet Derbyshire, which was going so well! The early born of the second generation we all teenagers. But it's all gone.

I just ordered today a new computer, not sure when I'll get, but I'll sadly have to cope with Vista... yeurk! Any suggestions or advice?

Maxis Meshness

Hello,

i've decided to try & make clothing using more maxis meshes rather than custom meshes, starting with the two recent sets, Cutesy Dresses & Club Dresses. Although I won't be abandoning the custom meshes completely... Definately not! :D
I have some more formal wear planned & some bottoms to go with dress tops (the longer tops that look like very short dresses) As I can't find tights/pantyhose or leggings anywhere to match them! GRR! And i'm sure I don't walk around without some sort of covering in the winter months! Lol!

Apartment Life EP

Hi!

Now I have it!

I bought the new Apartment Life EP yesterday, installed it and had time for a short insight of the new EP.

- I must confess that what it comes to building (my passion) apartments I will need help! So, it means that in the near future I will be learning about the new game play features and also trying to find tutorials that will help me in building.

If I get reeeeaaaalllyy frustrated, I'll just build "the good old fashioned normal sims2 lots"!

Sim Therapy

...I've been creating so much and writing the Andretti's so much, that I was 'challenged' to just open the game and play. Sure, that may be normal for most of you...but I cannot remember the last time I just sat down and 'played' the game. I'm either writing a story, taking preview shots, testing creations, building a lot of submission...but never really 'playing'. But, let me tell you...I've been doing it for about three days now and it's awesome. :D I've certainly missed the original purpose of the game...

I've been working on a new mesh set, as well as a requested mesh. Those should be coming out soon...well, the requested mesh...not the room. The room is proving to be quite challenging.

Also, I have been working on the Andretti's...Part 57 is in the making. It has about 10 or so screens already in it and typed up. I am hoping to have that submitted for approval before Thursday.

Anywho's...just a bit of an update on what's going on around my minisite. Thanks for checking in and being so loyal! I love you guys!

Bringing things forth...

I've now uploaded the Neon Signs set and wanted to bring that forward for release this week. I usually submit on a Friday, but I already have two lots scheduled for the next two Fridays, meaning that the neoon signs wouldn't be coming to you until the very end of September...

Which simply won't do!

So, the lot I had originally scheduled for this Friday is now going out early (tomorrow, in fact - 10th September) and the Neon Lights set now takes its previous slot on this coming Friday (12th September).

So, why is it so imperative that I submit on a Friday? How on earth do I know?! I just HAVE to, okay??? It took a lot of courage and therapy to release a lot on a Wednesday, and it will take some getting over, I can tell you! It will be with much relief that I can occupy Friday slots once again.

Work In Progress!

Me Again! - There's a surprise! I've been busy (as usual!), in what little spare time I've had recently, trying to finish all those projects that I've started and then got sidetracked from! I'm happy to say they are progressing, and to prove it, here are a couple of pics of my new and improved (?) 'Ice Bedrooms': 'Blue Ice' 'Grey Ice' I've also been working on some other requests, and hopefully I will have those finished shortly! I Have No Blog

Those have to be some of the lonliest words I have ever seen. "I have no blog." I couldn't leave them like that. (Did I spell that right? Lonliest? Is that even a word?) I guess the big news is that I have, obviously, changed the layout and featured sections of my minisite. I removed some of my older lots and added some of the most recently published houses. I'm also still in the process of uploading my favorite items from my old website. If you remember something from there and you don't see it here, feel free to ask for it. Alternative Elevations

Hi, What I'm trying to find out with my latest poll (see my poll on my main page) is would you like to see an alternative exterior elevation to some of my houses - some people might not like a certain style, therefore there would be an alternative. I would also modify the floor plan a bit to blend with the exterior. For example, I would build a traditional estate and make a modern elevation of the same house with a more open-concept interior, Yet it would be the same house.

Well, probably some of you have already started a school (educational) year, so I hope that these are not the new things of which I'd like to talk about...

Because of the school I have not so many time for TS2. I'm not going to create smth everyday etc., 'cause I need to think about my future firstly.

But I'd love to stay here as an SA, so you won't forget me! xDDD

Also because of the school I can't answer all your feedback in one moment, guys. Sorry for that! I love to thank everyone individually but sometimes I just can't do it. No dependence on how rapidly I want to do that...

I just hope you do understand that first of all we all are people who have their own lifes which we need to live and you do not expect me making all the time items for you...

Real life situation

Hi,

I planned to submit more Dandelion Ridge lots, but it seems that I have to abandon the idea at least for a while. My daughter, who was seriously ill last autumn, is at the hospital again and I am not sure if I can concentrate on the game & creating. On the other hand it may be the only thing I can do - who knows.

However, I have played a lot recently and also learned a lot. I've also found so many useful tutorials here at TSR! It's really great that people share what they've learn!

I'd also love to get the Apartment Life EP, but my computer needs a serious fixing before that. It needs to be cleaned up and updated.

What's With All The Ugly Textures!?

Easy answer: I'm gearing up to rebuild my play/storytelling 'hood from scratch (the Soup Legacy being in its final days). A big chunk of it will be a rather run down inner city sort of area, and I want a larger variety of nasty, dilapidated textures for that.

Plus, cyclonesue likes the crumbling set :D

Expect to see a whole pile of old, worn, ugly build mode items, new meshes, and recolours of existing meshes as a result of this project!

I'll likely publish some of the lots as well, depending on a) my mood and b) how much CC they require.

I thought that might get your attention, but I'm just describing the latest signs for my neon lights set. I'm really enjoying making these lights and so I thought I'd post up the latest in the hope that you will invite me to do world tours, sign autograph books, meet your country's leaders and walk on red carpet...

Three different signs (heights set so that they can be overlaid on the same piece of wall if desired). Again, these are proper wall lamps.

Anyone who would love to offer clever ideas on how to make the lamps flicker and such is cordially invited to TELL ME NOW so I can show off even more and reach even greater glory.
