It only took a year!

The Victorian Inspired Garden collection is scheduled for publication on May 20th. I started the Victorian Inspired Garden/Patio set May 2007 and I finally finished it! LOL, it only took a year to complete. Actually, the garden set has gathered dust for a year and I finally forced myself to complete the project.

The set includes 12 new meshes, a 1-tile dining table, dining chairs, a chaise, an arbor bench, loveseat bench, sideboard, armchair, end table, a outdoor lantern, decorative planter and a sundial. It's time to invite the neighbors over for a garden tea party!

What to feature...

Well, one of the features of a mini-site is the ability to "feature" creations. I had no idea how to figure that out, as some of my creations that I like a lot are not always the ones that are downloaded or commented on the most. (example, I really like my elder female overalls, but they have had a horrible response download wise.) So what I finally decided is to feature items according to download numbers. My 2 most downloaded female, male, and wall/floors are what I will feature.

Crash...

About a month ago, my computer did let me down :( I got lots of pink stripes on the screen, the graphicscard died on me.
I got a new one since it was still under waranty, but when I loaded the game, it crashed again. So someone came to install me a new motherboard, but it didn't help.

Since then my computer is at the technical service and all I can do is patiently wait...

I just wanted to let you all know I'll be back asap and creating again ;) I also want to thank you all for your wonderfull coments *swoon* Thank you *hugs*

EPs and Projects...

What do you build anyway?

I recently had someone ask me just how many base game homes I had created. I guess I never really thought about it, so I decided to do a quick check on just what EPs I used, and how often.

With 43 houses currently available for download, here's the skinny on what I used:

Base Game - 15
Uni/NL/OFB - 20
Uni/NL/OFB/Seasons - 1
Uni/NL/OFB/Seasons/BV - 7

Maxis only (No CC) - 41
CC used in lots - 2

Fully decorated - 41
Partially decorated - 1
Unfurnished/exterior decorated - 1

As a builder, base game only can be a real challenge. There are no half-walls, there are no roofing/45 degree angle cheats, there is nothing to really decorate with, and none of the wood tones actually match. No stage tool, so I have to make split levels and stairs the old fashioned CFE way, and the pools are a serious pain in the tuckus! It can be very difficult to build/furnish under these constraints...hence the need for an EP or two just to provide a little variety for my downloaders...and let's be honest, eh? For myself as well. ;) As you can see, I do TRY to keep the EPs to a minimum though, and I really appreciate those of you who have noticed and commented on that.

Notes on Current Projects:

I currently have a few projects I am working on. One is a modern home that looks like it belongs downtown, or at least in a cityscape environment. One is a cottage like home with a nice pond and some extensive landscaping for those of you who like that sort of thing. And the last is an intricate contemporary that may take a little more time as I am very particular about my contemporary homes. There is a fine balance between "modern" and "contemporary" and sometimes it isn't easy walking that thin line...but I shall trudge along and hopefully you will all be happy with the result. LOL!

Thanks to any and all who actually wade through these blogs. I hope this explains a little better what I do and what I try to do for you. I live for attention and acceptance, so making you...the downloader happy...is truly what makes it all worthwhile for me! Thank you, thank you for your continued support, and for building my download numbers up so quickly! TSR has some of the best people in the simming world, and I am genuinely honored to be in any small way associated with it. Happy simming!

Retiring

I have loved the time I've spent as a Select Artist here on TSR, but now it's time for me to step aside and let some up and coming talented artist take my place. I have found myself in a position where I must choose between the priorities in my life. First off, I recently got a new job. It's a GREAT job, but my office is now a windowless cubicle and I spend much more time in front of the computer than I did before. To come home and then spend more time in front of the computer is a little more than I can bear. Summer is coming and the sun, fresh air, and bike trails beckon. I'm also a single mom and every moment I spend in front of the computer takes away from the time I spend with my son. That's a choice that I'm no longer willing to live with. Lastly, a friend of mine is nearing the end of her life, dying from cancer. We are now witnessing her last days on this earth. I have come face to face with what is really important in this life....family, friends, home, faith, among others. Upon examination of my own life and my priorities, I find that a computer game doesn't really come near the top of the list. While I get a great deal of satisfaction out of the things I create and the fact that other people like them, it doesn't compare to the beauty of the smile on my son's face, or the sound of his laughter when we're having quiet conversations about whatever makes us happy.

I may still submit occasionally, when the inspiration strikes me and I have the time. I want to thank everyone who has downloaded my creations and give me such positive feedback and encouragement. This would never have been as much fun without you.

FORGIVE ME SIMMERS...FOR I HAVE SINNED

It is with deepest apologizes that I type before you and admit that I have made a HUGE mistake.

Up until now, I have been creating a few items all wrong. I have been under the impression that creating clothing using artist's alphas were OK. as long as I didn't use their textures in the same creation.

Boy was I wrong.

It wasn't until Tantra kindly took time out to teach me; and to help me understand the differences between alpha, base textures and bumpmaps; and that they ALL contain ownership. Not just the texture.

In light of this, I'm going on a creating hiatus for now. Just until I can get the rules and the 'proper' way to create down to an art.

For those that I have offended, I'm terribly apologetic & I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive my misunderstandings.

Now that I, 'literally', know right from wrong; I guarantee you that it will not happen again.

I would like to take this time to THANK Tantra for her knowledge, patience, and kindness.

Whoever said knowledge isn't power? XD

PC fixed

Hi everybody,I know I was gone a long time but I had a PC problem,but now it�s fixed.Sooo..I was thinking that it�s time to upload something again and put up my new banner.The very important thing I want to say is that all my photoshop brushes are from deviantart.com and fonts from searchfreefonts.com,the reason why I�m writeing it here is that I want to thank all the creators of the brushes and font I use in my pictures,but I got so many brushes and fonts that I really dont know from who is what.So please take this like a "thank you".I guess thats all for now.Happy simming:)

James is two months old already

Doesn't time fly! Well, here for all those of you (hello Shirley) who asked for a new picture, is James at two months old.

He now weighs 10lbs 2oz and has had his first lot of injections to protect against various diseases like tetnus and diptheria.
He's generally a happy chappy and has started smiling and gurgling away to himself. At times he sounds like a Sim.

I love all the sims games, but I remember when, we were still all playing the Sims 1, and I used to think, how cool would it be to have rain, and lightning, and such. Well I just love the Seasons EP the best!!! Open for Business, and Bon Voyage, definately tied for second. What are your top three, and tell me why?

Hey guys!

I know I've been MIA for the past couple of months and I'm so sorry about that. I've been having a pretty rough semester and it was taking up a lot of my free time. Now that the semester is finally coming to an end, I've pretty much been playing catch up with my sims game (I haven't played it in ages!). I JUST purchased the free time ep, whereas normally I would be the first in line to get it on the release date. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive, but I've just been busy. I've been reading all of your wonderful comments and as always I really appreciate them, thanks!

I did a little updating with my minisite and I added a couple of new polls. As you all know we're anticipating the release of The Sims 3 and I was just wondering what do you all think about it? Are you ready for this next chapter in our sims world or are you still hung up on TS2...can't let go just yet? Also, this new game, Spore? What do you think about that? I'll admit I don't know too much about it just yet, but I'm curious as to what others think. Let me know.

I'll probably start creating some more for you all soon. In the meantime check out my polls and I hope you all are looking forward to a wonderful summer....I know I am! (lol0

If you're still building a Napoleonic army, you will soon have access to a new recruit: Colonel Brandon's dress uniform from the 1995 film of "Sense and Sensibility" is, as I write, in my pending list. :) In order to get a proper shape for the riding boots (rather than just painting a "naked" mesh, as I used to) I have had to make this outfit as a separate top and bottom, and the bottom half will require Open For Business. If this is depressing for you, please let me know and I will try a version of it on a naked mesh (though I think it may look quite horrible).

Changed the look & collor on my Minisite

Hi, sweetees! Yes, I did it! After a lot of thinking I desided to change the look on my avatar & my banner at my Minisite. I was bored of my avatar with the blue hair. Somehow it was beautiful and fairytalish, but.. I don't have blue hair! LOL!! It's black/brownish with a little copper shine on it. And I have to confes.. there are also one or two grey hairs. Or a fwe more. He, he, never mind... no one knows about it, just only you and me! I hope you like my new style? I do, and I am feeling very comfortable when I am looking at it. The poll. Why?

Hi, some time ago I've received a request to make more recolors of the Village Women set. I wondered if there would be more people requiring them, and so I've put the poll. There haven't been many people voting yet, but even now I can see that there are more ppl than the actual one person who would be interested. And so I'm working on those recolors just now!

Another thing the poll tells me is that you people mostly prefer clothes for adults. Poor toddlers still have only one vote! :P Well, I am and I will be creating clothes for adults mostly, but..Don't you think that there's finally quite enough of adult clothes? Apparently you don't. Perhaps it is because you do play with the adults mostly, but consider poor clothes-less-maxis-only kids or elders when you're voting! Even when you're doing it only to gain kudos! ... :D

Where am I?

Well, as ive bleeted on in my last few blog entires I have not been playing much lately, I have not been creating, I have not been doing very much other that work sleep and eat really...

A promotion at work has been to blame, and frankly i cant be arsed to do anything once i finally get home. That coupled with a complete lack of inspiration of what to create and stuff just not turning out right when i do has lead me to take a break.

I hope that i will be back creating soon, please dont lose all hope!

Hi! Some Story news, I STILL have "Escape from Fort Bravo" to finish, that has been hanging around since January, LOL! It will be a two-parter. A western, of course. Will be posted here at TSR soon...I hope! LOL! Also I was so gratified with the response to my foray into the Regency era, "The Two Faces OF Aidan" I decided to go back even further into the 'Dark Ages' or Mediveal period to try my hand at another period in history. The story will be called "An Honorable Knight" , yes, it is a romance, and I have a few preview pictures up at my off-site blog DREWSOLTESZ SIMSTORIES Thanks to cariadbach, I now know how to post pics in my blog, so here are a few more preview shots of the hero, Sir John Twinningham... Leave a message there (or leave it here!) and tell me what you think! Will be posting the story here at TSR hopefully in a few weeks. Two New Lots Coming, Plus.....

Well, I finally have two new lots coming soon and one in the works. The first is Trinidad Island Marina and the second is 1 Trinidad Island Way. The marina is a community lot built for entertainment and the 1 Trinidad Island Way is a residential lot that I just love! ....wouldn't mind living there myself. Here are screenshots of them both: I am also working on a hotel, simply called Trinidad Island Hotel. I love it as it's so colorful and tropical-looking: Bon Voyage has been working, to date (cross your fingers and knock on wood), as I got rid of some of the stuff packs loaded onto my computer and that, so far, has fixed any issues I had been having with crashing allowing me to build more beach and vacation lots.

Break Over.

Okay, I've come back from my break, I've had a think about what I really want to make for TS2, and I have decided. Some of you may not like this but I want to mainly foucs on gothic fashion and things like that. If you want something, yes even if it is colorful, you can request me to make it and I will try my best! But for now I am going to make a wedding seires, I have jst finished the bride, 4 hair colors, a dress and some makeup. I hope you will enjoy this! All hair colors are binned and dress is for adult and elder!

MIA

Hello everyone.
Sorry for having been MIA for several weeks, it was not a planned absence.
To make a long story short, after havign been sick for more than a week, my PC was toasted during a snowstorm/power outage (as if 30+ cms of snow in April wasn't bad enough).
I purchased a new PC on Friday and managed to set up almost everything over the weeekend. Most back-up has been restored (a bit more to do tonight, I hope). Therefore I should be able to upload several sets within the next week or so.
For those waiting for the remaining Tiki Match sets, I have more than half of the pieces completed. A few I have to be re-created :( (wasn't a very recent back-up), and a couple of further pieces still to start on.
They will be released in 3 Sets- One more for the Livingroom (including a 3 seater sofa)and then Kitchen and Bathroom.

I am hoping to then be able to move on to my frequently request "Zen-sational Living" nursery match set as well as a Nursery to match Maxis' GL series. A couple of food/meals are alos on my short list.

Dorm of Death

So I have been playing the Double Trouble challenges this week-end & am having an interesting issue I have never had before...Apparently David is living in the Dorm of Death...Every day brings another inferno. I have a few screenshots to upload & lets just say no sim is safe (death while playing mahjong?!). I have installed sprinklers and fire alarms in every room & still fear the reaper. So far David has made it to his Senior year...Fingers crossed!

100,000 Downloads, woohoo!!

Good morning everyone!

When I logged in this morning I noticed I had reached a milestone, 100,000 downloads, woohooo!!! A big thank you to everyone who has downloaded my creations, I really hope you are enjoying them in your game.

On Saturday 17th May it will have been a month since I submitted my first Sims2 creations here, I've had such a fab time so far, too busy creating to play these days but it's all good! LOL

Remembering our roots...

I'm thinking of learning to make some Sims 1 stuff...I've not played it in so long, but there was always something about the original game that has stuck with me and that I still enjoy.

I don't have it installed anymore, but I've got every SP and EP for it. I've also thought about when the Andretti's come to an end, I may uninstall all my Sims2 stuff and play Sims 1 for a while.

I miss it, what can I say?!

I know that is has been several months now since I've lasted submitted something, but I hope to have something new very soon! Maybe within the next week or two. But, now that summer is here, I shouldn't be as busy for the most part.

First MESH!!

I finally made a decent-looking mesh, after many hours of studying and making mistakes! It is a table - well, actually a table-looking desk, and if all continues to go well, there will be a lamp and chair to go with it. Of course, it may take me a month (or more) to get it all to the point that I would actually consider uploading it to TSR. I am still learning! But I will show you my table, anyway! Of course it needs to be textured and stuff.....and I may do a bit more tweaking to get it as perfect as I can.

So, there's nothing like a challenge to get your creative juices flowing. The current mesh I'm working on is simple, but it's causing me some problems and a half.

ALSO--the new avatar on this page is as close to a representation of what I look like as I've been able to get. The nose is a little long and she's far prettier and a few years younger, but I think the tones and the shape of the face, eyes, mouth and brow are me. My hair USED to be red, but this is my natural color (minus the few strands of gray here and there.)
