hiedibear's cave of Sim hints.
I know we learn something new ever time we play our games. I've been playing for quite a few years now. :) BIG thing 4 me......I eat, sleep & breath Sims pretty much 24/7. I love playing with ALL aspects of the game when ever possible; some more than others obviously. Each comment from me (or just about) will be another helpful hint/tip either that I've learned just by playing or by reading the strategy guides made by "Prima".......I HIGHLY recommend that even "seasoned players" purchase and read them.......you'll be amazed at what you'll learn. (click "comments" to see the comment a.k.a. tip. Also checking in on forums IS another good way of getting "tips of the trade" and learning from the "uh-oh's" of other players.:DCatching Up!
Well here it is, 2008 and I have only just got Sims2!!!! So typical that I always seem to be behind everyone else by years. LOL I've had TS2 for about 2 weeks and it has been vastly different to TS1!!LOLI decided to go ahead and create myself a mini-site now to keep track of my challenges and also to get used to posting things again, while I learn how to for TS2.
I'll be stalking the Forums, reading all the awesome tutorials on there to expand my knowledge and skills and hopefully will have some TS1 items revamped for TS2 very soon.
COUNTDOWN: About 145,000 Downloads to go!
I am nearing the 1,000,000 mark... I can't believe it!Thanks to all of you who have continued to inspire me to keep on making more stuff for your game! There will be more to come soon!

Mad Cow Daniel Johns Sim
Thankyou to everyone who messaged me requesting I upload my Daniel Johns sim. I wasn't really happy with the finished product so didn't bother uploading him but due to the number of requests I have received, he is being released this week. It took many hours to create him and it is a pleasure to share him with you. :-)Fabulous Sesame's Gorgeous Kitchen!
Amazing me once again by suprising me with an absolutely gorgeous kitchen set in my own name no less! How she knew just what I like is astonishing in itself, and to think that she took the time to make each little detail with me in mind! Thank you my thoughtful and talented dear friend! Testing the kitchen in my upcoming lot which will feature Sesame's elegant kitchen:
I have tested the kitchen to make sure the occupants will use the kitchen facilities and not a bathroom to wash their dishes.
Sims were able to use the angled trash compactor and counters.
They used the diningroom to eat their meal; the kitchen island with the barstools to read the paper.
Here it is...
I've had many comments about when I was going to build my Mediterranean estates on the beach lots...So here it is. When I built this house, I was inspired by an actual beach villa in Palm Beach. It was designed by Maurice Fatio in 1929. I really liked the cottage look, yet it boasts palatial feel to the home. What I designed is not an ultra big house (only 3 bedrooms), but the rooms are big and your Sims can move around at ease. The backyard is highly detailed since your Sims will be spending most of their time back there. There is no CC. to this home, so it will be available to everyone! I've been testing this house and I really think your going to love it, I do!! Look for it early April...I hope you will like it to!
Been busy
I've been really busy with work and other matters lately, so my creating has slipped. I hope to upload some new stuff this week, but we'll see.I got a minisite!!
Hi everybody...well I finally got kudos to upgrade to a minisite,...so Im working on some banners and so on.Have a great time.Toddler FashionWorking on my first story
Wanted to something else for a change, so I started on a story. Now, THAT'S a challenge! I need to do things you can't normally do, so I have to figure a way around the game limits.Another challenge is to figure out how to upload the story. I found the Story Wizard alright, but it says nothing about how to get the story images to appear in it.
You're never too old to try to learn something new...
I'll upload the story in a few weeks. It will probably have to be broken up into chapters, and I want to upload the whole story at once. Who wants to wait for the next chapter? Certainly not me!
Replying to Comments
I have been rather busy lately so I have not had enough time to reply to all of the comments I am getting for my creations... But I promise you all that once I get enough time, I will drop by each of your guestbooks and make my presence felt!Happy Simming and God Bless You!

Freed My Photo Frames
Thinking of recolouring my photo frames, but worried about the fact my stuff is now pay? Fear not! I have set the four master meshes free forever, so you can recolour them to your heart's content without having to worry that downloaders will be unable to get the meshes needed to display your pretty pictures. It's just my additional meshes and recolours that will remain pay - though they will certainly show up in the free rotation at some point in the future. For those who like direct links, that would be:
- Square master mesh, for square images and all frame recolours,
- Portrait mesh, for all portrait-sized images,
- Landscape mesh, for all landscape-sized images, and
- Panoramic mesh, for all panoramic-sized images.
Enjoy!
New Minisite
Welcome to my new minisite! There are new lots that I hope to upload soon. Lately, I seem to be doing modern ones or ones for Haunted Hollow. One extreme or the other!Be sure to visit the Haunted Hollow thread. New creators are always welcome in the Hollow! Please come and join us!
UPCOMING
LOTS:The FINAL lot in my Stonewood Heights series will be the beach lot that I will be releasing sometime next week... and then, I will take a break from my series lots for a while and create "randomly"... I have just bought Free Time and I have new lots that will be related with it to come....
SERIES:
I have decided to continue my Block Series (the original WHITE ones) to make lots for Free Time. There could be a Ballet School, a Fitness center, and other exciting lots on the way!
HAIR RETEXTURES and RECOLORS:
Because of the TREMENDOUS success of my "Sleek and Beautiful" hair set, I have decided to create more recolors of it for all of you! After that, I will group them all into one whole set which will be added to my Achievement set so that things will not get too messed up.
OBJECTS:
I have finished sets 4 and 5 of the Maxis Recolors series, and I am currently working on set 6 and 7, which could be a Study and also some "add-ons"... anyways, i am still thinking about it!
THE BLACK STATUE 5
I am facing technical difficulties with this... I am currently trying to REDOWNLOAD all the CC I used because my father accidentally uninstalled on of the EPs I was using to create the story... I am so sorry if this is taking TOO LONG to finish!
Anyways, this is all for now in my world,
Happy Simming and God Bless you all,
Alyosha
100,000
I never expected to make it to 100,000 downloads ever, but to do it so quickly. I can't tell everyone enough how grateful I am that you like my creations. I'll do my best to keep putting out things that people will enjoy and want to use in the game.Something New in the Pipeline!
I recently installed SimPE and have been playing around with that in my spare time in an attempt to expand on my range of creations - with a little help from some tutorials from here - many thanks to atwa, gayle_afcb and tdyannd for these
Mad Cow Missing items fixed
I recently discovered that I had uploaded a couple of duplicate items and that two items were in fact missing from their respective sets. Thank you, perfectangel, for letting me know about these errors. They have now been rectified and if you wish to download these missing items they are as follows:1. Valentine Lingerie Silk Chemise Set from 09/02/06: cerulean chemise was missing.
2. Pyjama Party Part 2 from 11/10/07: Pink Top & Leggings without socks was missing.
If you notice that I have made any more careless errors, please do let me know!

FoMD Living Room Set
Thanks to Cyclonesue the living room set is almost done and ready to be uploaded. I just want to get the first three pictures for the living room done. Once that is done then I'll be able to start putting together the upload package. In the end it took cloning the loveseat to get the frame recolor to take. That is really frustrating considering that the sofa and chair both took the frame recolor and fabric recolors easily. Anyway it's done and it works, it doesn't overwrite the original Maxis loveseat. In fact now the recolor shows up as an original work and under the Baroccoco Loveset. Go figure.FoMD Walls Approved
The first set of interior walls for the Flowers of May Day series have been approved. They will come out on the 6th along with the second build set. I've got a second interior wall set uploaded along with two different sets of floors. The living room set needs only one piece and it will be done. For some reason my loveseat doesn't seem to be taking the frame recolor. Once I've got that fixed then we'll be all set to go with the living room. I warn you I haven't even started the kitchen and I'm coming down with something that knocks you off your feet for about a week, 2 in some cases. So don't expect to see the kitchen soon unless I'm just desperate to find a distraction from my misery. Many Thanks!
I cannot believe in little over a year and a half since I have been posting stories and my humble creations I have reached 40,000 views and well over 400,000 downloads! I just want to thank everyone here at TSR that have ever read, downloaded and commented!Have been here since 2003 and have not had a bad experience, everyone I have ever dealt with has been generous, kind and altogether gracious!
*clinks glasses with everyone*
Cheers!!
Have a great week!

Matt & Jenny
I have NOT will not give up. I got so far as making a young Jenny and her family for my Matt & Jenny story........when I did I noticed I couldn't pull up the "cheat window". I put in an "sos" in the forum; hopefully someone can figure out why I can't and how to fix it. I had fun with making Matt & Jenny, although they're not going to look exactly the same.......I should be able to keep 14 out of 20 happy.LOL :D Well that is IF I can get that one problem fixed.......thanks for everyone's patience.FoMD Build Set 2
The second set of build objects for the Flowers of May Day series will be published on Sunday. The set has seven pieces thanks to Atwa and Spaik who helped me find the fences and opened a whole lot of other pieces for me in SimPE. Also again thanks to Cyclonesue for her tutorial on creating modular stairs. So in this set you'll find 3 half walls with mint, peach and light violet toppers and glass. Two fences, one peach concrete poured privacy wall and one wood railing in a peachy beige to use for porches, balconies and decorative yard railing. The gate in a peachy beige and the modular stairs. The first set of indoor wall paper is pending but hasn't been approved yet. It should be soon I'm sure. As soon as it is I'll post here in my blog. Ja Ne!Up and Running!
Ok, I finally seem to have all my bits in the right places! Yesterday, I apparently didn't have any creations to download, but that seems to have been sorted - so please feel free to download as many as you like!
Mad Cow 9 Million Downloads
Hi Everyone, Just logged in to find I now have over 9 Million downloads thanks to all of YOU!!I really appreciate all your downloads, comments, thank you's from all of my supporters.
I am tickled that you like my recolors. I am pleased that you are pleased with them.
Keep On Simmin'! & Enjoy! Thanks So Much to each and every one of you.
New tutorial - New free set
My latest tutorial has just been submitted. It's about adding a group, or subset, to an object mesh and if you have a look at it, you'll see that it's based on my Forked coffee table.
I made this table, and the matching lamp, on purpose for the tutorial, trying to make un unusual shape, but yet in my own style.
And to allow you to follow the tutorial easily, all the set will be free forever, starting from tomorrow, so that everyone can download it, and if it's the case, extract the mesh from the package and try out the tutorial.
Thank You's to Cyclonesue...
for her Modular stair tutorial. She already cured my fear of downloading them and installing them with her installation tutorial. With the help of this latest tutorial I learned how to make my own set of modular stairs. I think this is one of the best things I've learned so far because stairs are one of the things that I've dispaired over because the selection can be rather limited color wise. Granted after reading Cyclonesue's tutorial I downloaded a number of new modular stairs to help eliminate that problem. But this will give me so much more freedom when it comes to my building. And hey I'm always willing to share. ;pHello and Welcome!
Hi everybody and welcome to my new minisite!Loads and Loads of Thanks...
To Atwa and Spaik for their help in finding the more advanced objects in SimPE the other day! Thanks to them the rest of the Flowers of May Day Build objects will be done. So there will be a delay on the next set, but only because now that I was able to do the recolors for a fence and railing set, I want to make a set of matching Modular stairs. Thankfully Cyclone Sue whose wonderful tutorial walked me through installing modular stairs which scared the frick out of me also has a tutorial for creating them. I'm looking forward to the challenge, as soon as they are done and working properly I'll get the next build set out for the Flowers of May Day house. After that it will just be finishing the furniture and paintings. I'm so not looking forward to the kitchen stuff, because I think it's ruining my eyes the work is so detailed. But I promise there will be matching appliances for everyone to work with.A Poor Man's Cross Set
We are talking very plain design here. This will be my first public 'meshing' project, so please don't expect any bangs and whistles or dazzling construction. This took me a very long time ... and yet it is such a simple design ... just 2 boxes hooked together and colored. I think I made this cross at least 2 dozen times before I got the size I wanted. Meshing is a whole other world in which I stepped into. My hope now is that I actually uploaded correctly, lol! Here is a pix of the cross in a church setting. It's that tiny thing on the wall above the font, lol!!!
More Pipes!
I've finally wrapped up a second set of the Pipe Dream Industrial Furniture, and posted it for release next week. There should be a third set in a few weeks, with luck, revolving around the idea of a pipe-based kitchen. I may work on something else first though, as over the last week or two I've been peering at pipes until my head is spinning! And in other news, as of today my total downloads is back over the 2 million mark again. Yay!GunMod's Camera Mod
I know some of you have been having trouble locating GunMod's Camera Mod, so I thought I'd provide a direct link to the thread so you won't have to go searching for it at Modthesims2.The Camera mod will allow you to view the entire neighbourhood, right to the edges, so you can use the whole map. Without it you can only view the centre of the map. That's not to say you have to have the mod, I'd suggest trying the neighbourhood without it first & then if you do decide you want to view more, then download the mod.
I use Gunmod's Camera Mod 3.1A & I just use the "Neighborhood Camera" & the "Live Camera" as I find it gives me more scope to take snapshots without having to go into the free camera mode, using the "Tab" button.
Here's a link to the mod: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=97642
Have fun!

Maybe...dorm?
I made a dormitorium for my friend. Livingroom, kitchen, 5 rooms with bathrooms, swiming pool, music room, studio, pool billiard-table. Maybe I will submit it...?
Flowers of May Day
The first set from the Flowers of May Day series has been approved and will be published on April 2nd. This is the main build set basically. I will have a couple more pieces that I originally wanted in it, but that had to wait. I really do want this to be a set where you can pretty much build from the ground up and furnish all in the same series. Hopefully everyone will like it!Canopy troubles?
I've had a few reports of game freezes after installing Free Time for those who are using the canopy from my "Bed in a Bag" series. Kimberly at SunniSims has been gracious enough to update this mesh for us. Please get the updated mesh at this URL:http://kimberspace.mattwork.potsdam.edu/sunnisims/category/buy-mode-objects-by-room/bed/
She is in the process of updating the SunniSims site. Once she has that all updated, I will be changing the links on my recolors.
