Victorian Inspired Study, Dec. 10th
The Victorian Inspired Study set for publication on December 10th. The set includes a world globe. I was going to recolor the globe from my Tudor Rose Library set. However, when I saw its high polygon count (nearly 5,000) I decided to create a new lower poly mesh. You may not be aware of it but too many objects with high polygon counts can slow your game. The new globe has a poly count of 1848, and I think it is more attractive too. My modeling skills have improved since creating the older mesh. So, if you have the Tudor Rose globe in your Sims 2 download folder, please delete it and replace it with the new globe. The Tudor Rose Library Globe

Poinsettia
As you may have noticed, there has been a poll on my mini site for the last week or so to find out what people would like me to create for the Winter Wonderland Theme Week. It's not too late to let me know what you would like me to create next so, if you haven't already done so, get voting now! Festive hair seems to be one of the most popular choices so far, so here is my first offering: a recolour of the beautiful Sunair T013 mesh - a sophisticated style with the hair twisted into a bun on top of the head with a few fronds hanging down to give a romantic feel. I have adorned the hair with three festive red and green poinsettia blooms.
The festive style is available for adults, young adults and elders and I have created matching re-colours of the corresponding styles for teens (with a trim!), children and toddlers. All styles come in 7 beautiful shades: black, brunette, golden brown, copper, strawberry blonde, natural blonde and golden blonde.
Thanks to Sunair for her gorgeous mesh.
Merry Christmas! :-)
Pirate Cove *Phone Fixed*
Gaah! It's come to my attention that the phone on the Pirate Cove lot can't be used to call a taxi home by Sims visiting the lot. First of all, I do apologise if this has caused your Sims to be stranded on the lot. I must have missed this when testing it :-(If your Sims have their own phone or have come by car, you won't have noticed a problem. It's caused by the phone being situated on a slanted piece of ground.
I've now fixed the problem and updated the file so you can either download again or use the steps below to fix it yourself (this really isn't a ploy to get more downloads ;-) I assure you!)
1. Enter the lot from the neighbourhood screen.
2. Type in the "move_objects on" cheat in the cheat window.
3. Pick up the phone and move it onto a flat piece of land (such as the floor tiles next to it)
You can either leave it there, save and exit the lot, or:
4. Use the level ground tool to make the ground level with the pavement (sidewalk!) and...
5. ...move the phone back. Type "move_objects off" in the cheat window. Save and exit the lot.
Here's a pic of stage 4:

Graduate Starter
I get a bit frustrated when playing The Sims 2 that EVERY family, large or small, starts with 20,000 in the bank. Everyone in life has different circumstances and sometimes I want to play a family that are moderately well off without feeling that I've cheated! I just don't have time to build every family up to that stage from scratch.I'd also love there to be other categories of house to design for, other than starter homes. So, that's where I came up with the idea of a Graduate Starter. At least if a couple are moving back to the neighbourhood having graduated, they will both have 20,000 EACH to start their new life with. No cheating necessary! So a Graduate Starter, to me, is a home that costs under 40,000 and is suitable for a couple just starting out.
Enough waffle! Here's a few pics of the interior:

Have an AMAZING day!
Completed Lava Lamp Set
I have completed the Lava Lamp Set. It has a new mesh and 13 recolors. I will upload it soon.
Lava Lamps Project
I have been collaborating with Frogger1617 to replicate one of her Sims 1 objects to Sims 2. It has taken a few weeks to accomplish but we have managed to come up with something that is pretty darn close. Take a look at the finished project. Recolors will be coming soon.
Victorian Bath Dark Recol, Dec. 8th
Every once in awhile I browse through my previous sets looking for objects to recolor. Especially now with Christmas just around the corner, and I have not started my gift shopping yet, LOL. With so many things to do before Christmas, I decided to do a few smaller recolor sets during the month of December.Well, I discovered I never did a dark recolor of my "Antique Gold Bath" set. Therefore, I decided to recolor a few of the meshes from my Antique Gold Bath set, and earlier bath sets. Now my Sims can enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in a newly re-decorated bathroom, while I run around doing last minute Christmas shopping.
Oh, the joys of Christmas shopping in crowded stores, the thrill of the hunt for a parking spot, and the fun of driving during a winter weather alert. Maybe I'll just shop online, and maintain my Christmas cheer! I really love the holidays, but hate the shopping.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
News and some Thank-you's
I'm very thankful to all of you have emailed, PM'd and left comments for me. I've gotten many responses, and all of them echo the same point about the anatomically correct skins. I do want to clarify, though, that the skintones were not pulled without discussion, and the higher ups and I are looking for a way to have them up at the site in their current state, without offending anyone who is sensitive to that kind of content. I can assure you, one way or another they will be available soon, either on this site or maybe a sister site of some kind,;) and if all else fails, they will be available somewhere where anyone can download them.Again, thanks so much for the support. Feedback like that lets the folks at TSR know what you the subscriber find important, and it certainly makes me feel good!
Changing Avatars
Aren't some people's avatars just great? I love hilarious avatars, and some of my personal favourites include Iramsay, sunpowder65 (check out Sunpowder's pictures - hysterical!) and MonkeyOfDoom. I love their avatars in particular. However, here's a tip:
Remember that many people can suddenly change their avatars, and in the forums, that the changed piccie sweeps through all their postings, past and present. Therefore, think twice about leaving your hilarious little quips like "That's the funniest ape face I've ever seen!" or "ha ha HAAA - your avatar looks just like my pet frog!" because, one day, you can guarantee that the simian or amphibian-like avatar they DID have will be replaced by a lovely and elegant photo of... themselves!
Except your funny quip does not change with it. Your funny quip remains for ALL to read forever more and you can't change it!
And how rude and vile you suddenly seem to be!
Never mind. I can be rude and vile as well, so you'll be in good company.
Festive Bunny Girls
My first festive offering this year is a pair of sexy Christmas Playboy Bunny Girls in seasonal red and green costumes - perfect for adding a touch of glamour to your Sims' Christmas parties. These are simply recolourings of my original Playboy Bunnies and matching Playboy Bunny Ears. As before, the Bunny costume consists of a smart satin suit, cottontail, cuffs with Playboy cuff links, collar with bow tie, name medallion, sexy black heels & black seamed tights. The Bunny Girl costume can be worn by adults and young adults. The bunny ears are available for all ages.

The body mesh is by Aardvarkams at MTS2 and the Bunny ears mesh is by Windkeeper here at TSR.
Testing!
I haven't been able to update my blog for weeks, so this is a test. The image is my latest set. It was just this week my DSL was restored from the storm. They still have not taken care of several huge limbs broken and hanging over the wires. Its scary especially with the new snow storms coming.

Homes illustrating 2-level basements
I thought it would be useful to publish a house that demonstrates the final result of my 2-level basement garage tutorial. It's called Eastham Rise, and I'm publishing it as a set of 2. One version is furnished and needs University as well as Nightlife; the other is unfurnished and needs Nightlife only. :) I had fun taking pics of the car coming down the drive, seen from underneath. If you're in the UK it's like the Astra car advert with cars doing acrobatic circus stunts!!! Here's a preview pic:
More Tales from Wonderful Humankind
In response to my Bearded Crow story (two entries back), eshuff told me a wonderful story that fits very nicely with my general disregard for using blogs properly, and so I asked her if I may retell it. She said 'yes', which means she's a very nice person and also means I get to waste even more of my 'update you with my work' blog space!"My friend drove down her long road from the mountain, and everyone was waving at her, and she thought they were just such friendly mountain people. It was a long road, a couple of miles, very winding, and everyone just keep waving at her, and she rolled down the window and waved back. What friendly people, they wave to you at zero dark hundred in the morning. At the stop sign before the big intersection with the highway, she finally decided it might be a good thing to stop and check out the car. Just in case. She looked up and saw that her cat was on top of the car, clinging frantically to the luggage rack. True story."
By the way, I was going to call this entry: "New Tried And Tested Cat-Freezing Method", but not only would that have given away the punchline, it would also have had the millions of cat lovers among you all clicking the "I now HATE this artist" button (seen that button yet? No? GOOD!)
By the way again! I've warned my Whippet-Lurcher that I might feel the need to procure a luggage rack and drive down mountains in the near future if he doesn't behave! (and he never does)
Rant: Guy's Stuff
When I first started recoloring/creating I promised myself I would do as much or more for male sims as I do female sims. I get tired of never being able to find as much stuff for my guys as my girls. Sadly, now I'm finding out how hard it is especially since I only recolor and don't mesh.I peruse sites all the time looking for items free to recolor but it's really hard. And I'm picky- really picky about what hair I actually will work with which makes it even harder.
It's quite frustrating. That's my mini-rant...*sigh*
Vehicular Graveyard
Dead cars - simply because they don't work. Dead as a doornail (British saying - I can't think why anyone would ever imagine a doornail to be anything BUT dead - and WHY a doornail???).
Cat bed recolors and new living room
I've made a few recolors of my cat bed. Blue/White, Red/Tan, Green/Red to be exact. The pillow has matching recolors, an invisible recolor option, and an extra shade of red to match each of the red main bed recolors. I don't have a picture yet, but i have tested them and the set is ready for submission!I've also started a new living room, It's a modern set based around natural greens and browns, with steel trim. I don't have a picture of it either yet, but I will get one soon!
Movie: A Brief History of Morris Dancing
Hi All
I have finished my movie and you can find it on sims99. It's a spoof
documentary about morris dancing!

Candles of Winterfest FIXED
I quite like the candle arch that comes as part of the Holiday Pack if only its candles would work. Well this was bugging me enough to fix them. They now come with regular lamp interactions and can be placed on surfaces and mantles.
Slight change of plans
I had originally planned on submitting new Charmed stuff last week, but there were a couple of things that weren't working out quite right. So instead I submitted some holiday fashions based on Barbie dolls. I should have the new Charmed stuff finished for submission by the end of this week.I think I may have exhausted the possibilties with tiles. I will clear the backlog I have waiting to be uploaded and then may look at wallpaper again... I have found some great patterns that could look great.
Squares Slideshow
The interior of Squares is modern and blue ;-) As usual, it's all Maxis content. I had to design to a budget for the competition, so you might find that some of the rooms, like the basement, are in need of a little more decor. It's difficult to single out pictures of the interior to show you, so here's a link to the slideshow I created for the competition. The lot should be on the site by the end of the week :-)
RAM Happened! :D
I finally caved and bought some more RAM - only a 512mb stick (34.99 from PC World :o ) but combinded with the 256mb stick I already have in my junky junky heap, it means I can play sims again! :D I have plans to make loads more wall collections, as the ones I've uploaded so far (last few colour choices are getting published tomorrow - check them out!) seem to be getting great reviews from everyone! I love getting all your comments on stuff! I've got Pets now though, so thats stealing a fair bit of my wall-creating time! I love the cats so much; my poor cat in real life is feeling a bit ignored because I'm spending more time with the pixel-kitties!
One of my sim family's dog, Hazel!
and their fat kitty Orson! ^-^
Edit To Add! ... A bunch of people have PMed me to tell me they can't sign my guestbook; try going via the About Me tab, and then to My Guestbook if you want to leave me a message, it should work that way! :D I promise to write something nice back if you leave me a message! ;)
Woops!
It seems I made a rather large gaffe when I released the first set of those skintones. They are anatomically correct, and TSR is a family friendly site. :o I am doing what I can to see if I can get the skins back up on the site, but I dont know what that might mean for the finished product. I will say this with all respect; I would feel pretty uncomfortable altering these skintones to be family friendly. The way I see it is, that if you would rather not see anatomical details, then you will almost certainly have the censor blur enabled, anyway. I hope those of you who were hoping to download this set will understand, and exhibit a bit of patience while I try to get this worked out. In the meantime, I offer my apology for making assumptions about TSR's audience. If I did offend someone who downloaded these skintones ( no complaints yet ) then I am very sorry.December Vacation
I'm on vacation to visit my family in Canada during the holidays between December 4-28'06. I'll have limited Internet access during this time so will not likely be able to respond to PMs, guestbook signings and comments until I return, unless it's something I notice to be urgent and can actually do something about while abroad (although unlikely).Season's Greetings and all the very best to your and yours this holiday season! See you soon. ;)
New projects
| I have been working on my own site for a total new look, please visit "http://english.thesims2code.com" for some free object downloads. The past 2 weeks, I spent all of my time on my new PC. It crashs all the time when I play The Sims2 and the other games, I finally found that it was the motherboard... anyway, I fixed the problem and my PC works great now! I can create again and I have some idears for a few new sets. I will make a new mesh set for shops which contains around 6-9 meshes and some recolors. |
Upcoming Sets!
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, not only did I over-indulge in desserts, but in modeling new meshes for the Sims 2. I was working on my Victorian Inspired Nursery set, Part III, when I decided to create a vintage desk for one of my Sims' family. I do play the game occasionally, when I hit a creative road block. One week later, my Victorian Inspired Study set is complete (see pictures below) and I still have to finish my Victorian Inspired Nursery Part III set, LOL! Soooooooooo...I have to get back on track and completed the Nursery recolor set, (see picture below) which features antique white furniture, and pale lemon yellow textiles. In the meantime, I will publish the Victorian Study first and then afterwards the Victorian Inspired Nursery Part III set ;-)
VICTORIAN INSPIRED NURSERY, III
Pets Problem...
My computer died a few weeks ago and I spent a lot of time reinstalling all of the programs I need to create meshes and such... Well, I forgot to do Dr. Pixel's fix on the recent recolors until today. If you have problems with the Men's Rave or Teen Rave set, please redownload the files should work with all expansions now.Long time, no blog
Well, unfortunately it's been a long time since I have had the chance to submit something. However, I have not dropped off the face of the Earth, but I have been busy, which has been dealying me from submitting. However, within the next week, I will be submitting the next Autumn Stuff Mini Pack set. To let you all know, I have begun the planning stages of the Modern Stuff Mini Pack. The drawings, in my opinion look great, and when I get to the meshes, I'm sure they will look even cooler!I've been working on several new tile sets this weekend. In particular I am working on a plaid pattern which looks like it should come out quite well. I also had several projects that I had finished with but didn't think were good enough that I have been re-working, many of which are based on the more complex repeating patterns.
Welcome!
Hello! Welcome to my first Blog entry! Im really proud to now have a mini site at my favourite sims site of all time! So, this morning I have put my attention to making some more sexy, yet modest, underwear for female adult sims. Its a silky, spined corset top with spagetti straps and small hot pants. It will be in a set of four colours- Black, White, Blue & Pink. I'm yet to deside whether the pink version is worth adding to the set or not. So if it turns out to be a set of three, then you know why, lol.
I have also been working on a formal collection with my new mesh I made a few months ago. Silk again, I do love silk, lol. The dress is high up to the neck at the front and then shows the full back. Its very chic! well at least I hope it is!
I will get some previews done later on today as I have to go shopping for hair dye and nappies now! I'm thinking... Blue hair this time? No seriously. lol. You thought I was joking!
Bye x
hey guys!
hey guys looks like im not completly gone... ill be updating here about once every two weeks at lest on average.-Drew
Flora
Bunny Skins is branching out into hair styling!I have created my first hair re-colour and I'm quite excited about it. The style is based on the beautiful Thai hairstyle that came with Happy Holiday Stuff (or Happy Holiday Mini Pack if, like me, you bought Christmas Party Pack last year). The mini pack can be downloaded from the official site via EA Link. (OT - Can anyone tell me where to find the lilac/pink version of the standard Sims 2 dress that Maxis uses in the advert for Happy Holiday Stuff on the official site? I'm determined to find out where it comes from.)
The new style is available for female adults, young adults and elders: the hair is scraped up on top of the head, twisted into a bun and secured with a pretty beaded floral band. I've also re-coloured the corresponding toddler, child and teen hairstyles. I gave the teens a bit of a trim! All the styles come in black, blonde, brunette and redhead.

This is my first hair re-colour so please be kind! :-)
New Basement Garage tutorial
Some of you have noticed I've been postponing and postponing my original Basement Garage tutorial!!! In the end I thought it was best, and most respectful to the fine work of Cerulean Talon and Mistress666, to add a NEW Basement Garage tutorial, one which takes the ideas in a new direction. (The 'Current Project' box on my mini-site homepage is just out-of-date and taking too long to change!!!) So this provides a different method for the basic techniques, and then develops the method for a 2-level garage, which I hope will be useful. A few of you have tried it out already, for which my many, many thanks again. Here's the preview pic:
Sorry about being slow to reply
I'm so grateful to have received so many encouraging comments on my tutorials - thank you, thank you!
It is taking me a little while to get round to replying to all of them - but I will do!! Hope you're OK to be patient. ;)
New Recolors Pending
6 recolors of the Damien hairstyle for men are coming Dec.3. I also have 10 Recolors of StarryNight23's Elegance mesh for women pending approval. After that will be 10 recolors of S2S's Stella mesh for women.Beyond that...even I don't know yet...
~ENJOY!
Cat Beds
I had it pointed out to me that kittens and cats look kind of ridiculous in the Maxis pet beds, since Maxis made them to fit all sizes of animals, so I'm making a bed just for cats! It's smaller than the regular beds, and i have it hacked to only allow cats. Here's the base mesh/texture.
There will be another specific version for dogs too, and both versions will have some recolors and an invisible pillow option.
Tokyo Windows
Tokyo Windows set turned out to be huge! I had to split it up into 3 parts, publish dates Dec 5th, 10th, and 15th. There will also be a superset published right after the 3rd part that includes all 3 sets, just for the convenience of downloading all in one. Windows come in 1-tile, 2-tile, and 3-tile size with no expansion pack required. Lots of round windows (including beautiful 3-tile wide), matching sliding doors and regular doors. Diagonal doors and windows also included.
Free Rotation
Due to recent changes in TSR free items policy, it is now up to me to select the free rotation items among my own creations. But before you start asking for something to be set free, here is what you should know:Archive Items: you may notice that a number of my old creations are also in a free section. Those are what I call archive items they are at least a year old and they do not carry enough value to remain in a pay section. The archive items will always remain free. Currently my archive includes all walls, floors, and ground covers, facial hair, makeup, eye colors, as well as several old objects and clothing.
My plan is to have a weekly rotation, this will allow me to rotate as many sets as possible. I will be changing the free sets every Sunday.
