Swan Song

Greetings all.

This is my last entry at TSR. Coming off of the heels of Wildness, which frankly didn't get downloaded very much, I'm heading into the sunset with my favorite of my Sims 2 creations, which Xandher and I call "Breck Girl." It's a 70's-inspired style that was pretty tough to pull together. I hope you enjoy it.

No, it isn't the last of my creations because of low download numbers for Wildness; you win some, you lose some in that respect. Rather, I just can't devote the time to it anymore. I am a busy, busy guy (aren't we all, though)with a young family and I have to take inventory of what I want to keep doing and what I want to unload. As much joy as the Sims has brought me since 1999, I'm going to have to bid it adeiu for what will be the last time.

I've been in and out before. In 2000, I decided to stop making Sims 1 heads, then went back into it three months later, working on them for another two years until SimFreaks decided it didn't need me anymore.

This time it feels more permanent. I'm not saying that I won't be bitten by the bug again, but right now, I'm wearing lots of insect repellant. I just can't justify spending the time anymore.

My thanks to Thomas at TSR for his kindness. TSR is a good site, and I'm glad to have been associated with it.

Yes, the fact you're here probably means you've also seen that set of fire extinguishers in my calendar for next week.

As usual (so as not to disappoint your expectations of me) they are useless. They do nothing except sit on work surfaces, tables, floors and shelves. They don't actually WORK and even the colours I've used have been decommissioned (all extinguishers are now red with a little colour to indicate contents, so mine aren't entirely up-to-date either).

But, I say this to you. Download them anyway. THINK OF THE KUDOS! Every little extra point inches you along to that TSR mug, and so posting a comment on the veritable extinguishers will be one point nearer to enhancing your caffeine-intake experience.

Go on. You know you want it.

New Sets

I've been working on some new sets the past few weeks. My Colorful Seperates set was published this morning. I have a dress set that is based on one of Grizzelda's great meshes. As soon as the submissions calendar problem is fixed, it will be ready to go. I also have a Summer Fun Mix and Match set of cute summer tops,with matching skirts and color coordinated capris, along with a pretty formal dress set also based on one of Grizzelda's meshes. Be on the lookout for them!

It's coming... I promise!!

I absolutely adore the TSR staff for all of the extraordinary changes they have been making around the site! The whole place is looking better and better! As things sometimes do, the changes have currently caused me to be unable to submit my newest items for publishing, so please bear with me! I have nearly 100 items ready and waiting to be submitted and the list grows every day! Once our fabulous staff has worked all the kinks out, I'll be getting back into the routine. If submissions aren't up and running pretty soon, I'll upload some photos for you to get a glimpse of all the fun to come!

Fionn and I have been hard at work on our latest project, "Breck Girl", inspired by the 70's advertisiment icon of the same name. Its glamourous and feminine, and perfect for your sims! Heres a preview:

Cashcrafts Asian Addon

I have near finished a request the recolors of Cashcrafts Asian addon set to match the Snapdragon Bedroom set.I know not all of you like Black but for those that do I hope you like it.

Well onto another color,looking in my creation library I need something other than Blue or Black.Blue seems to go pretty much with everything,making it a good choice, when my creativeness is less daring.
I also love Neutral understated colors, but keep that for my real life.My Simmy recolors are for going beyond sensible or practical,but fun.

Sometimes Im a bit worried, people get bored of the clothes I make. If you have any suggestions on how I could make them better or different, please let me know. I appreciate inspiration.

Doll bed

I have uppdated my doll bed. It had too many polygons before. I also made new recolours for it,it will be upploaded later.

Upcoming: Bay Window Recolors

When I'm not recoloring objects I am still working hard on homes to submit to TSR and I started realizing how much we need a few good recolors of the OFB Bay Windows! So... off I went to make some. At some point this weekend I will be submitting 20 Bay Window glass recolors and 10 wood recolors for your enjoyment! Now you can find the perfect shades to match your favorite homes!

Flowers, Flowers and More Flowers!

Not that winter ever really came here in Texas, but there's no doubt that summer is just around the corner. To celebrate the change of seasons, I decided to publish some floral recolors. To start off with, I've done 10 recolors of almost every crafted flower available. I am also working on recolors of the outdoor flower beds. Happy Springtime, everyone!

To many late nights.

Thanks to ladygrainne for letting me know about Milano Hood and Light being the same file,I have now corrected this error.The correct file where it should be.An easy mistake to make,none the less is my second mistake in the last few days.Which has been a wake up call for me, hence the blog title.

The late nights take there toll after a while,especially when night time is a creators favorite time to get creative.Funny how you dont realise how sleep deprived you are until mistakes begin to rear.One mistake will pass as acceptable but not 2.So tonight I am gonna hit sack early.night folks!

New clothing sets

I have made some new clothing sets - mostly with 7/8 jeans and stiletto shoes or ballarina shoes. I hope that you like them. More coming soon as always ;)

Should we break bad habits?

I don't smoke or drink, but I DO sympathise with anyone who really wants to break either habit. My bad habit extends to rendering tastelessness into an art form. I did TRY to stop this (oh, I tried SO hard) by making pretty garden things, but I just can't seem to keep it up for extended periods...

Yes, I, the almighty can-do-anything (don't worry: it's this self-belief thing of mine - you don't have to share it), caved in. I went totally, unstoppably wild in making horrid things instead. You've seen in my last blog entry which I see as the pinnacle of badness to the Urban Renewal collection, and today also sees the release of horrible bedroom furniture...

We're told that one of the best remedies of kicking a bad habit is to join a support group. So, I shall initiate the TSG (Tasteless Support Group) to help those, like me, entrapped in the shackles of vileness. You see: there are many of you out there who wantonly join me in ruining the lives of our Sims. We take their plush homes, tear out their expensive decor and clutter them with spoiled goods, or we move them to a truly deprived area of town in a home more fitting to OUR addiction. Yes, that's right: we're utterly selfish; Sims are only Little People and so their feelings don't matter - not at all.

But, if we are to break this cycle of Sims-destruction, I think we shall begin with finding something syrupy nice on TSR and we'll join hands in a circle around the picture and chant...

Or point and laugh at it. Your choice.

Galilean Condominium

Yes, this is a 'vanity' creation. I decided to try and duplicate where I live. I was surprised that it really is quite accurate, and it is a bit weird seeing it in my Sims game. The only thing I had to change was the fireplace ... it actually is where the big screen tv is and the tv is where the fireplace is. I couldn't get the fireplace to sit at an angle.

Swimsuit Season!!1

Hey everyone! Its starting to get warm again, and of course that means the swimsuits are getting dusted off and aired out. I have plans to release quite a few sets of swimwear that I have been sitting on, and I thought I would give you all a peek at the first set. Its called Polka-Floral swimwear, and it will be released in just a few days. I hope you all like them!

Update - Buttons

I've updated my Buttons hair mesh file, made it a little animated. The strings will swing a little when sim turns her head. You only need to download the mesh file, old recolors will still work.

Hair Bin Tutorial

I've uploaded my first tutorial: Assigning Custom Hair to Proper Hair Color Bin. It tells you how you can convert custom hair to make it appear under black, brown, etc. category in both Bodyshop and the game. Please note, this is not a beginner tutorial, you are expected to have basic understanding of SimPe tool and custom hair files.

Well it took me a week longer than I had anticipated to get my glass walls and floors up here, but they are finally all uploaded and now I'm just waiting for them to be published.

Cloverhill House

This is an odd one. It's more of a urban-meets-rustic kind of design. I was curious to see if 'terrain' could be used indoors. It can ... and this house is the result. I'm not quite sure the styles blend all that well ... but it was interesting to build. I hope someone might have a use for this house.

I'll be going on vacation in a few weeks (if I survive 'state standards testing') ... and I hope to put lots of time in building houses ... there have been so many fanastic new buildings going up in my area (with unusual designs) ... my goal is to replicate as many of them as possible .... :0)

Skintone Update

I spent a few hours completing my skintone today.Trying to get is as perfect as I could, well,perfect in my mind anyway.I dont think it is as perfect as I would have liked, but think it's a fair improvement on the ones I lost.Anyway who's perfect?

I changed the skintones of the Toddler and child to compliment the others.With the exception of the Elders, I left them as they where.I will occasionally change the elders to.

The preview pic from Bodyshop makes the skintone appear fairly dark,yet in the game it's a fair amount lighter.As you may see from the preview pics, they are both the same shade, except one has tatoos and jewellery the other is a plain skintone with no extras.

Jolie & Anne Lips Sets

Hello! I am working on 2 new lipstick collections: "Jolie" and "Anne". I will include for the first time natural green lipsticks for aliens in each set. I hope you'll like these collections. :)

The walls and floor are, of course, from University. Any self-respecting Urban-Renewalite needs this expansion pack for these and other grimy walls and floors (oh, and the lockers mesh). The broken bulb light is from great creator DOT and her must-have 'Barely There' bulb set.

Healing holiday

I'll be away on holiday for a week from today. A friend has given us use of a seaside cottage which has no stairs or steps, which will be great for my sore old back!!!

By the way, a friend here has discovered that my thatched roofs look correct with Shadows turned OFF (which is how I play) so if you download Neston Rise, turn your Shadows OFF for this house!

Paneling

Four new paneled walls will be published April 29th. I spent four hours turning a kitchen cabinet into the HeritagePanel, I hope you will enjoy using them all. The wainscoted panels will look nice in your little people's rooms....getting ready for the May theme.
