Vanity Fair Revisited!
Hi y'all! Finally, I have a set scheduled for publication on March 12, 2009. Vanity Fair Revisited is a set recolor of some of my Vanity Fair Drawing Room furnishings. The set features a vibrant shade of teal and includes recolors for the following objects: sofa (master file), loveseat (slave file), sideboard fabric, roundtable fabric, coffee table, curtain, armchair and the trio of pictures. <br> I hope to release the Little Princess set soon. Real life is extremely hectic, with school, family, and work. I didn’t use Photoshop and Maya for a whole week; I swear I had withdrawal symptoms, LOL. Take Care, Carolyn
Strange Mood Continues
I continue to be in a distinctly non-object creating mood. The next thing up is another new thing for me. Eyes.
Don't know how it came up, it just did. Sometime things just happen, it seems.
Haven't forgotten about objects I've promised. I'll get to them soon. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Finally a few people have downloaded my dresses, so I'm starting to think that it wasn't a waste of time after all. Still learning though, when it comes to non-objects. Having a few other ideas as well. We'll see what happens.
Birthday Woot!!
Not only did I end up getting M&G Stuff for my B-Day but my sister went out and bought me a shiny new hard drive for my desktop with 500 GB Hard Drive - that is 4 times the hard drive that I had before. So much power and it is mine, my own my Precious. This will not only be helpful to me in my building endeovers (I can download even more CC mwahhhahaha!!!!) but, for my niece who is in the process of learning to re-color and mesh clothing. Plenty of room for CEP, GIMP, Homecrafter, SimPe and whatever Meshing Tool she decides to learn how to use. If she cannot get her own acct due to lack of Parental Permission (she is not 16 yet so Mum still needs to give permits for such things) or not being old enough I have told her that she can submit as a joint project with me like S2S do and we will just make sure tha the notes say to credit her. I am psyched- it should be fun. We may also post stuff she is beta-ing over at my LJ acct under the user name arelenriel, or on Wella Creations.
Tomorrow after I do some work and the HD is installed on to more lots and wallpapers- arghh lost my texture files and my Ikea Set --- rawr!
Uploads
I just finished uploading all the new things I've made. So if they get approved I will have 15 new creations for you to love or hate.
Time for bed.
New Hard Drive
Well it turns out that the virus that I picked up off of Big Fish Games borked my hard drive and I need a new one. I just deleted my DL folder backup, luckily I listed all my favorite stuff from various sites, inc what, where and who - so could just go into my laptop history since most was DL'd from laptop onto USB since I did not have internets for the longest while on the desktop (my luck my Bigfish DL MGR picked up a Trojan the day I got the internets turned on) and re-downloaded all my ,clothes hair, etc luckily have kept up my donations at Peggy, Rose, and Raon. I will not be up and running again for a couple of days- than will be restarting my Paradise Island Prosperity Challenge- and creating a new lot using Anoeskas Invisible Walls and Doors, Dots Invisible Columns and Moonlight Muses Invisible Floor Tiles - everyone will just need to guess what I am doing - now if only I could find a decent cloud terrain.
First.
Hi everyone!
I'm new there but I'm think I like it here. You are the amazing atmosphere! Coming soon (if the course will be accepted) you will see my additions :) Sorry, but my English is very bad. But that's because I come from Poland. And I teach on English 6 years.
Enjoy!
Long rant ahead!
It was brought to my attention that some people believe I'm being bribed, along with other FAs, into posting the EA's announcement on my blog.
If there were times when I was reluctant to share my opinion and see my words taken out of context and turned against me, now I realise that it will happen anyway, regardless of what I choose to say or not in my blog. And while I can only respect the decision of others who were also accused but prefer to keep silent, I for one refuse to shut up on this matter.
Is it so hard to believe that I want to share EA's announcement with everyone who is willing to read? After seeing my content shared against my wishes for months, why shouldn't I post EA's announcement on my blog?
I don't know what motivated others to do the same as I did, although quite honestly, I suspect they probably felt something similar to what I felt at the time. I wanted to share the news and I expressed it in my blog. That's it. I didn't disrespect anyone's views and I didn't attack anyone in my blog. I merely expressed what I felt was important to me.
For the record, I will continue to respect people who don't agree with my views, and I don't mind if they bash my work on other sites. What I find quite frustrating is to realise that my integrity and my honesty is being questioned and there's basically nothing I can do about it.
So, for the few people who care, I will continue to speak my mind freely here in my blog and no money in the world, no malicious statements on other sites can influence that decision. And if there ever comes a time where I am not allowed to do so and someone here at TSR tells me to shut up, I'll take that as a sign to leave this place.
The World Wide Wait
Don't worry: I'm not here to threaten you with any vile creation; life keeps me otherwise occupied (a general purpose excuse for anyone serving time in jail, and it's good for me too). I'm really just updating on my Simming position for all those of you who are interested (that will be the 2-3 people I arm-twist into this mini-site and forcibly make them read)...
So, what of my Simming? Well, of Sims 2 I await inspiration. The best is done, and is already out there. I feel as though my ideas already repeat what is already even better in the Sims community, and I don't like doing repeats. But my biggest, BIGGEST 'wait' (and possibly a big 'wait' of the entire Sims community) is whether it will ever be possible to make meshes for Sims 3. No-one has said it will be, yet, and it feels to me the end of a marvellous era if it does indeed transpire that custom meshes are not going to be possible. In all honesty, I share the majority view that it probably won't be possible. Perhaps if I'd got off my butt and gone to EA myself, I might have asked how it would be possible to coat the world with rust and grime, but I didn't, and there we all are.
"But wait", you say, "you build lots too, so make Sims 3 lots instead!" (well, I know you didn't say that - it's called artistic licence and, as this is MY blog, I'll license my artistry all over it, thank you). Yes, I build lots, but if custom meshes are not possible in Sims 3, then I won't be building any lots in Sims 3 either - because ALL my lots use essential custom items to make them ooze with horrible atmosphere (you can count with the fingers of one fingerless hand to see how many of my lots do not use custom content). Without custom content, I will be left with no choice but to make dull, suburban, shiny semis, and I can't possibly lower myself to make something nice! Ugh.
So, if Sims 3 does not offer (for me) the choice to create bad windows, rusty chemical drums and the like, then Sims 3 is not going to be for me. Will I keep making stuff for Sims 2? Well, if someone finds something of the ilk that I might possibly create, and it hasn't already been done before, then you can always throw it my way.
I've done with asking myself rhetoric questions now You can now ask your real questions - like why do I smell so bad...

Ooh - a proper EDIT this time!
Good point, Midnight222! Would I not just be rehashing all the same stuff again for Sims 3? I'd certainly rehash my own stuff - I know I'd be doing that because I've already made all my favourite ideas, and those things would be missing from Sims 3 and someone will need to make them so that I can build vile lots. I expect Sims 3 will be all shiny and fluffy with no sign of a rotten wood table anywhere, so I'd HAVE to rehash some ideas. I really hope we're given the chance to rehash some vulgarity into Sims 3. Maybe one day, as you say, Midnight - I surely hope so too.
Clarification - End User License Agreement
Finally EA have stated their views on Custom Content and the Sims Community, the way I see this is simple, it states whether the content is free, Donation or subscriber the community should respect the the terms of the creator.
My terms are simple and always have been, I have always created for TSR this is where I want my creations to be hosted, no where else and this should be respected by all of the sims community.
Read the statement here
Andrea :)
Hi everyone,
Over the past several months, we’ve received questions about the End
User License Agreement (EULA) that is in our games for The Sims 2
regarding custom content. Below is a statement from our Sims team.
While there is no change to our End User License Agreement, we hope
this clears up any confusion you might have regarding the EULA.
Thanks,
-MaxoidDrea
The Sims celebrates creativity, humor, and community. We strive to provide players with tools that enable them to customize and personalize their game experience. We are proud that so many of The Sims and The Sims 2 players create their own art for the games and share it with others. Sharing art online is a hobby that involves an investment of time, energy and money. Whether players choose to share their original artistic creations with the community is up to them: some custom content creators design work for a fee; some host their works on sites that organize, store and serve an enormous amount of content for subscribers; some artists request donations; and some artists allow all players to download their creations for free. These artists set their own terms for how they want to share their talents with the community at large. Those terms should be respected by other players.
EDIT: I'm not posting this without the permission of our Sims team. Just to be clear, this statement is coming from our Sims team which includes all management for all of our games and our Sims legal team.
Open to Requests!
I kind of said this in my last blog, but I am always open for requests. If anybody sees a picture of a house they might want, send it my way and I'll build it for you. Or if you anybody wants just a general style (i.e. beach house, cape cod, etc.) I really like to build anything, I just run out of ideas sometimes.
Allison
