Sims 2 Hardware Awareness Campaign
TSR and TSW are running a Sims 2 Hardware Awareness Campaign on the build up to Christmas to help people calculate their upgrade needs (if any) to be able to play The Sims 2 in all its Technicolor glory when the game is released early in 2004.
The game actually demands a fair amount of processing power to run well, but more importantly needs a hefty lump of graphics card clout. You can see exactly how your system fares against the minimum and recommended system requirements for The Sims 2 by downloading and running our nifty little System Requirements Checker found on the Programs Page of the Sims 2 section of our new sister site, The Sims Workshop, which you will find at the other end of this link.
To encourage you all to check your system and work out whether you need to ask Santa for that extra bit of hardware in the coming weeks, we have devised a Hardware Survey that you can take part in, which will automatically enter you into the sweepstakes to win a fantastic new Graphics Card powerful enough to bring your version 2 Sims to life! Were also giving away a pre-order for The Sims 2 and a 1 year subscription to The Sims Resource. Check out the Competition Page for the details.
If the System Requirements Checker identifies a shortfall in your existing system, then an upgrade might be in order. If this is the case, we have provided you with a few links to excellent tutorials that will guide even the novice PC builder and fixer upper, through the relatively simple process of lifting the lid on your PC and carry out minor surgery in the form of an upgrade.
So, make sure that you have a system capable of running The Sims 2 now, and make the most of Christmas to get you up to speed if needs be ;-)
