Sad :(

*Sigh*

Heavy sigh even...  My Sims broke and I don't know how to fix it.  I've been busy for days now - with the help of very friendly people on the forums and the support help of EA itself, but nothing seems to work.

Today I gave up and put my pc back to factory settings, hoping this would do the trick.

Nothing.

Still the screen switches off.

I don't like this, that's for sure!

Have a look at the help forum - maybe you can give a hint?  Or did you suffer the same fate?  How did you resolve it?

Well, I'm sad :(

Maybe your custom content is borking the game, remove everyone and install it back it sets... and try determining the problem? Good luck \:wub\:

Thanks for the good luck, but I've jumped through all the hoops already \:\( - even the base game now, without anything else doesn't work anymore.  Even Cadiva, de forum's moderator is stumped and that says something...

OMG... I just read the whole thread... that's just terrible. I would bring the whole pc down to one of those Geek squad shops (compuworld of zo, waar ze zelf pc's bouwen) ... I would go literally CRAZY. I have two computers, so if it would work on the one and it does on the other than it has to do with that pc, or what's left of the old game somewhere on it... I wish you GOOD LUCK, and I hope it will be resolved. I do hope you will write about that too so we can all benefit from it would it happen to one of us...
I am sorry you can't play the game now, but it's good to know you could set your safed games etc. aside safely!
Sorry that I cannot be of any help, just wanted to let you know how sorry I feel for you.\:\(

I don't know if this will help but have you done a disk defragment?  for some reason if I don't do it regularly my games won't work.  when I played sims 1 on windows xp I had to defrag it before everytime I played.  I have sims 2 on windows vista and I have to defrag every week or my lap top starts randomly shutting down...I'm not sure how to do it on windows 7 but on xp and vista it was; all programs / accesories/ system tools/ disk defragment.    hope it helps.  also try disk clean up if you don't do it regularly..

Thanks wordlesswriter - I'll try that too.  I'll try to run it on the neighbour's son's pc this weekend - he's got loads of stuff I could otherwise cannibalise \;\)

Fredbrenny - I understood you very well \:D  I've got a laptop too but after WA it ran very slow :P  I'll keep you updated when/if I find a solution!
