Second son of James I and Anne of Denmark. Though a good man, devoted to his family, to his kingdom, and to the arts, Charles was a weak King. To weak to stem the growing tide of the Puritan movement which had begun in Elizabeth I's reign as a reaction to the opulent Catholic Church. After a short and fear-filled Civil War, Charles was captured and executed by the Round Head Puritans for treason and Oliver Cromwell was made Protector of England.

Beautiful, large portrait perfect for castle or old fine family mansion. The whole collection is very well done and a great download.
