Known in Japan as the Tanuki, the Raccoon Dog bears its name from its raccoon-like markings. However, despite is resemblance, it is a member of the canid (dog) family. These odd looking canines live in Asia and southeastern Siberia and Manchuria, but can range as far as France and Italy.

In Japan, the raccoon dog is part of their mythology, mischievous shape-shifting creatures well known for their virility.
