A . . is for A-frame . . . Angles . . . Architecture . . . . and . . Attitude!
This tidy house, with a deceptively small exterior size fits all of the above - with some to spare! Closer inspection will show that the angles and the attitude are well matched and come togther nicely to form a very liveable space.
The ground floor living area is light and planned to allow for maximum ease of movement, but still retaining a feeling of warm cosiness. A central hallway off the entry has arches leading to the main family areas. The living room is semi-screened from the TV lounge and the dining area by a solid halfwall and this provides a useful buffer between the two 'noise level' areas. The lounge also includes a sound system, comprehensive bar and bar seating. A large and well equipped kitchen, with breakfast nook, is adjacent to the diningroom and a full laundry with washer/dryer and ancilliary storage opens off the end of the kitchen.
On the opposite side of the hallway, just to the left of the entry is a secluded library with desk and computer, in additon to comfortable seating. Entry to this room is restricted by the 'secret' door behind a well stocked bookcase. Next door is the main bathroom - a brightly lit room of generous size, with every convenience.
The upper level is accessed via a circular stair in the livingroom and once again, this whole space is serviced by a wide, carpeted hallway. 4 bedrooms [3 doubles and a single] share 2 bathrooms, and the single room has it's own TV. Here also is an office - with draughtsman's table as well as computer, and document storage. An archway in this room leads into a small gallery furnished with chess table and easel.
The exterior landscaping is very simple - the rear yard is paved and some small shrubs provide colour. A covered pergola is a feature of the rear deck - and here is a chess set ready to play! A swing seat and trampoline decorate the paved area beyond.
All of this fits neatly on a 30x30 lot and A-ttitude will be happy on any flat lot of that size. For the record, it was built on the block at 2200 Pinochle Point, SV.
