EA's original chess in the High level of detail has +2000 polys only counting the chess pieces. As there's no chess without pieces, we have to keep them. However we made this chess table very low poly (Faces: 508 Vertices: 422) and it runs smoothly :)
In the medium level we made all pieces simple cubes and the result is a 784 faces and 1113 vertices polycount for full table, pieces included ;)
