Jonathan's mind is troubled as he relaxes on the chaise under the sunshade. As his eyes follow the path behind Grandmother Burrisoph's Bakery toward the city hedge maze beyond, he wishes he could see clearly into the Browning future. So much has plagued these three siblings in the past. Sebastian may have been right, though. "Jonathan, we should live our lives as they are now! What good can come of going back to that place and trying to pretend nothing ever happened?" By the time the phone call was over, Jonathan had finally convinced Sebastian to at least give Sunset Valley another try. The future was hazy; the past was overcast by threatening clouds and thunder.....
