Grandmother Johnsonoph's Design Boutique
Published Sep 28, 2010
Young Dina Johnsonoph, a distant cousin of Grandmother Johnsonoph, has moved to Sunset Valley with her architect friend, Archie Pennington, to reopen Nana J.'s design studio. The ground floor level will house a boutique, each item hand-picked by Dina for quality and affordability. Archie helped in over-all design, with emphasis being placed on period-appropriate style. The punched-tin molding and baseboards were discovered by Archie while Dina scoured vintage-restoration supply catalogs to find perfect silk patterns for the walls. Antique screens were fastidiously overhauled to coordinate with the wall coverings, and Archie's treasure trove of old tiles from "Another Man's Junk," some of which were filigreed, resolved the hanging question of flooring. The other half of the ground floor is already being prepared; Dina and Archie went together and bought a "Startling Bucks" coffee house franchise.
