The Sims 4 Teases Tons of New FREE Base Game Content
Simmers got some great news on August 11th: a brand-new free DLC Drop from The Sims 4! That’s right, Simmers can expect another wave of free content, as The Sims 4 teases a collection of new Create-a-Sim and Build/Buy items coming to the base game.
The Sims 4 team has given players an early look at some of the free content coming to the game, and there is quite a bit for Simmers to look forward to. A new teaser shared via the official Sims community channels showcases upcoming Create-a-Sim and Build/Buy additions, including new clothing, hairstyles, furniture, decorations, and items for younger Sims.
The announcement follows The Sims 4’s previous free content additions, but this time there is an important distinction: the newly teased items will arrive through a Base Game update rather than the in-game Marketplace.

New CAS Content Is Coming
One of the biggest highlights of the teaser is the new Create a Sim content. Adult Sims, including Teens through Elders, receive additional clothing and hairstyles. The preview includes several different styles, including shirts, sweaters, outfits, and a new hairstyle.
The Sims team also appears to be putting additional attention toward more inclusive clothing options, with plus-size clothing among the first pieces expected to arrive. Children will also receive new content. The teaser shows several new options for younger Sims, including dresses, tops, pants, shorts, glasses, and a new hairstyle. Those extra kids’ clothes could be super useful to give younger Sims a little more variety without resorting to custom content.

Build/Buy Players Have Plenty to Look Forward To
The free additions aren’t limited to CAS. The teaser also provides a look at a selection of new Build/Buy objects, including furniture and decorative pieces. Players can expect to see new beds, sofas, curtains, lighting, tables, seating, and clutter among the upcoming additions.
For children’s rooms and family homes, there are also a few items like decorative objects and a fish tank. Some of the objects shown in the preview have already caught the attention of Simmers, particularly the cozy furniture and smaller decorative pieces. A few of the clutter items also seem designed to add more personality to children’s spaces.
More Free Content Is Planned Throughout 2026
According to information shared in The Sims Discord, the first portion of this new content rollout is expected to begin later in August. The first release is expected to include the previously teased plus-size clothing and star hairstyle, while the remaining items shown in the teaser are planned for later in the year. However, Simmers should keep in mind that an exact release date has not yet been announced.
The teaser appears to show the various pieces of content together, which could suggest that multiple items will eventually arrive as part of a larger Base Game update. For now, though, The Sims team has not provided a complete release schedule for every item shown.

This Isn’t Another Marketplace Freebie
It’s also important not to confuse this announcement with The Sims 4’s recent Free Maker Drops. Earlier this year, EA launched a limited-time pilot program in The Sims 4 Marketplace that allowed players to claim free creator-made content. Those items were distributed through the Marketplace and included Build/Buy and Create a Sim content from participating makers. The new content teased this week appears to be different.
The Discord information indicates that these items will be added directly through a The Sims 4 Base Game update, meaning players won’t need to purchase them with Moola from the Marketplace. That distinction is especially important for players who have chosen not to use the Marketplace.
