The Sims 4 Freezing Bugs Aren’t Fully Fixed Yet, EA Says

The Sims 4 received a major Quality of Life update on September 22. It fixed a long list of bugs, including several problems linked to freezing and broken interactions.

However, EA has confirmed that The Sims 4 freezing bugs are not fully fixed yet.

In the official September 22 patch notes, EA explained that it had found several different causes behind these issues. Some were fixed in the update. Others are still being investigated.

The September 22 patch fixed several freezing issues

One fix targets a problem where Sims and the in-game clock could freeze completely.

Meanwhile, animations in the world could continue as normal.

According to EA, this could happen when a Sim tried to use an object while another Sim stood in the position they needed. EA also noted that this issue may have affected some hardware setups more than others.

Another fix deals with interactions getting stuck in a Sim’s queue.

EA linked this issue to interaction priority and how long certain actions took to finish. For now, the fix mainly applies to sleep and chat interactions, especially group conversations.

The team says it will continue testing the same fix in other areas.

EA also fixed cases where Sims could become frozen or idle after WooHoo. In addition, the patch addressed some problems with interactions that involve tending objects.

Some Sims 4 freezing bugs are still unresolved

This is the key point.

EA has not said that freezing in The Sims 4 is fully fixed.

The developers are still investigating reports of Sims repeatedly freezing and Sims cancelling or stopping queued actions.

These bugs may look very similar during gameplay. However, EA believes they can have different causes.

The team described the situation as “6 raccoons in a trench coat.”

In other words, one visible problem may actually be several separate bugs happening in similar ways.

EA says it now has “some good leads” on the remaining issues.

Why Sims may still freeze after the patch

This distinction is important for players who are still seeing freezing after updating.

A Sim may stand still, ignore an interaction or clear their queue. That does not always mean the September 22 fix failed.

Instead, the player may be seeing one of the related bugs that EA has not fixed yet.

This also explains why reports can be difficult to compare. Two players may describe almost the same behaviour, even when the cause is different.

More interaction bugs are under investigation

Freezing is not the only unfinished area.

For example, the September 22 patch fixed routing problems with the Read to Children interaction. However, EA says other reading-related bugs are still being investigated.

Discover University also received a fix for inactive Sims failing their courses. At the same time, a separate issue involving active households receiving failing grades remains under investigation.

EA says it plans to continue testing its new interaction fixes. As a result, the same changes may eventually solve more problems elsewhere in the game.

The fixes are not finished yet

The September 22 update does fix several major causes of stuck Sims and broken interaction queues.

However, it is not the final fix.

If your Sims are still freezing or cancelling interactions after the September 22 patch, EA is aware that more problems remain. The team is still investigating those reports and says it has already found some promising leads.
