The Sims 4 Dine Out Gets 25+ Bug Fixes! Are Restaurants Finally Fixed?
Sul Sul, Simmers! On October 27th, Electronic Arts rolled out a major quality-of-life update. EA packed it with over 150 bug fixes, many targeting long-standing food and dining issues. Several packs got major fixes, with Dine Out receiving over 25! If you’ve ever made your Sim get up and leave a restaurant because it was too buggy, we bet you’d be excited to see how the team improved the pack! Let’s get into it!
What’s On The Menu?
Going to restaurants in The Sims 4 has always been nerve-wracking. Everyone knows how it goes. Take your Sim out to eat and prepare to spend the next eight hours waiting for service. Next time, we’ll just order a pizza and stay in, right? Between poor service and Sims constantly leaving their seats, restaurants rarely worked as planned.
However, with over 25 fixes made to Dine Out, the dining experience should be much different. According to the team, the problem wasn’t just one bug. Apparently, autonomous interactions from several different packs were competing with restaurant activities, disrupting dining altogether. After investigating several player reports, the team identified many causes across the game.
As a result, Sims should now remain seated and focus on eating instead of leaving the table mid-meal for random activities. Customers should no longer leave the table to go jogging, dig through local dumpsters, or do any other ridiculous activity they choose. Also, Sims will no longer stop eating every time a celebrity appears at a restaurant. Judith Ward isn’t that big a deal!
Some rather unusual distractions have also been addressed. Sims will no longer get up to play with paper airplanes or challenge another to a sword duel. EA fixed another distraction by preventing dining Sims from getting up to hug other Sims during meals. EA also addressed some behind-the-scenes issues. The team has fixed a problem that could prevent waiters from showing up for their shifts and resolved cases where customers failed to interact with employees. EA traced these issues back to certain NPCs with special roles from other packs.
Even More Fixes?
Players should see improvements to restaurant seating. Sims are now less likely to wander around while eating and should stay seated during meals as intended. Some square tables with center lights interfered with routing and caused Sims to behave unexpectedly. EA fixed the issue by adjusting the object footprints, but some older builds that used the Move Objects cheat a lot might still show slight table changes.
The update also includes a few smaller fixes. Waiters should now properly clean dishes from waiter stations, customers should finish their meals before checking out, and players can now order Snowy Escape menu items when restaurants offer them. Restaurant uniforms also received fixes, and players can now assign both hot- and cold-weather attire through customer dress code settings.
Business owners also received a handful of fixes. Funds should now transfer correctly between households and businesses when opening a lot, staff uniforms should no longer reset unexpectedly, and the game will no longer automatically open Create a Sim whenever a player adjusts a restaurant uniform.
A few long-standing issues were addressed. Toilet pranks can no longer occur at restaurants or small businesses, Boba Tea now appears correctly when ordered from a restaurant, and EA has added safeguards to prevent a travel-related restaurant error that some players encountered.
The update fixes many restaurant issues, but EA says features from several packs also caused problems with how restaurants work. The team asks players to keep reporting issues so they can fix them in future updates. After years of Sims finding literally anything more interesting than the food sitting in front of them, visits should finally run more smoothly.
