In ancient European myth the Wild Hunt was a harrowing experience for any unlucky to witness the event: the spirits of the dead, or a host of fairies or gods, would be seen racing across the twilight skies, on the prowl for souls to take back with them to the Otherworld. Armed, mounted on horses and accompanied by barking spectral hounds, these hunters would snatch up any who crossed their path, and to see a thundrous Wild Hunt overhead was a portent of doom, disaster, and death. I feel sorry for the poor fishies in that pond....
