Hi everyone! I'm back with another short story, it's been so long and I apologize. I had been telling everyone who stops by that I was starting a new short story and I got so tied up with things(more info is in my blog). But I hope the extremely long wait was worth it. I had so many different ideas and topics that I wanted to use for my next short story and I've used some of them in this story. I hope that whoever reads this enjoys it because I put a lot of thought into it. Feedback and comments are always appreciated so ENJOY!

* Without all the wonderful CC this story would be IMPOSSIBLE, I thank all the new creators & original creators for their wonderful talent.*

-Stacey.
It was a warm summer morning and the sun had shined right through Grace's window onto her delicate little face as she opened her chocolate brown eyes. She removed herself from underneath her covers and slid her tiny feet into her favorite fluffy pink slippers. Waking up was always the part of her day that she hated the most but the events that followed were always fun to her. Grace sat on her bed for a few minutes with only a little bit of energy and took a look around at her beautiful little room she had grown so accustomed to. Everything was how she left it and that was how she liked it. On mornings like these Grace had always got herself dressed, styled her own hair and made her bed like she had taught herself to do. She was only 8 years old and knew how to take care of herself better than an adult could. All she was looking forward to was seeing her best friend and being able to stay outside all day and play with him like she did every single day.
After straightening up, Grace politley walked into the living room to find her mom on the couch in the same sitting position she was always in. Grace was never afraid to ask her mom if she could go outside and play because the answer was always yes.
"Mommy? I can go outside right?" she had asked with an innocent voice.
Her mother didn't say a word and she didn't move either, just a simple nod of her head meant yes and Grace ran directly out the front door without saying bye.
As the front door flew open Grace was shocked to see her best friend Malik sitting right outside her house waiting for her to eventually come out. She ran over to where he was sitting and plopped right down next to him.
She couldn't help but laugh at him, but she was also extremely happy to see him too.
"Malik, what are you doing here so early? You know I always come to your house in the morning."
He turned a bit red and looked over at her as she laughed. "I just wanted to come to your house today, you always go out of your way to come see me so I came to see you."
She twirled a strand of hair around her finger and smiled. "Gee, thanks. Let's go to the park today."
Malik agreed and they both ran off to the park.
Grace adored Malik's company and her beautiful neighborhood as well. The weather never let them down, the people were friendly and there was always so much to do. She never wanted to leave this place, it was the only place she knew, the place where she was raised and most of all, the place where she met Malik.
The duo had played together the entire day like they always did until the sun went down and all the fiesty bees went back into their nests and the mosquitos came out looking for fresh blood to suck.
When the sun began to slowly set over the trees Malik and Grace took a break and sat down on a nearby bench. Malik couldn't help but to constantly peek a glance at Grace every so often. She was his best friend and he wanted them to be best friends forever.
"Grace...do you think we will be best friends forever and ever?"
Stunned by his question Grace didn't expect Malik to ever ask her something like that before because they had always been best friends and she never imagined that their friendship would end.
"Of course we will be best friends forever, why wouldn't we be?"
"Just asking....." He said as he turned red and looked away so Grace wouldn't see.
He immediately changed the subject and realized how late it was getting. "It's getting dark out Grace. I could walk you home if you want."
Grace hated when it got dark out because that meant that it was time for her and Malik to go inside. It didn't make her too sad because she would see Malik the next day anyway.
"Okay, you could walk me home."
Once they reached Grace's house they had said their goodbyes to one another but Malik felt he couldn't officially say goodbye without telling Grace something first.
"What's the matter Malik?"
His face had turned red like it always did. "I have to tell you tommorrow it will be better. I'll be outside your house again, when you come out I'll be there."
Unsure of how to respond to Malik's statement Grace had gotten really nervous but excited at the same time. The two had made a deal to meet at the same spot tommorrow morning and Malik would tell Grace what he needed to tell her.
That night Grace went to bed with her young heart racing and she was so excited to hear what Malik had to tell her. She had picked out a cute outfit and planned how she would do her hair so no time would be wasted once she woke in the morning. It was going to be a wonderful day and she was sure of it. The next morning was different, and also very devastating. When Grace awoke from her sleep in the morning she had showered, got herself dressed, styled her hair as usual and walked out into the living room, only to find that it was empty. She didn't see her mother, the couch, the tv, or anything at all. She felt her whole body go numb and didn't know what to think or expect. As she turned to run and see where her mother could be she bumped right into her as she came through the front door. Appauled as can be Grace immediately began to question her mother about the situation. "Mommy?! What happened? Where is everything?"
"We're moving sweetie, I was waiting for you to get up so that we can load your stuff into the truck."
Those words had hit Grace harder than she ever imagined. She instantly felt tears coming but held them in as much as she could. Her mother hadn't said a word for months, and today out of all those days is when she decided to speak. Why would she decide to move? Move away from everything she had ever known?
"Mo--Moving? Why Mommy? Why?" She asked as her voice began to break up.
"Honey, I'm sorry but we have to go. Go wait outside while the movers get your things in the truck."
Before Grace could ask another question her mother left the room without saying another word. Grace was stunned, it all had came as such a surprise. She ran outside hoping that she would see Malik standing right there, hoping he would hug her and at least say goodbye.....there was nothing. She waited, and waited, and waited while she watched the movers go in and out of the house and reapperaing with something else to load into the truck.
"Where could he be..? she had whispered to herself. At this point the tears had fell, one by one, falling down her delicate little cheeks. Once the movers were done loading the truck Grace's mom assured her to get into the car.
Her tears were noticeable but her mother didn't say anything. Grace lifelessly moved her body towards the car and hopped in the passenger seat. The tears wouldn't stop falling and each time she breathed in she felt her heart ache. She didn't want to leave the only place she ever knew, and she didn't want to leave Malik either. She knew there would never be another best friend such as him, the thought of it made her chest hurt even more. Her mother hopped in the driver's seat and started the engine. As the car moved slowly Grace looked out the car window to see Malik standing there. She put her tiny hand up to the window and waved goodbye, she saw tears falling from his eyes and turned away. The car had pulled off and that was it, she was on her way to her new home and never got the chance to hear what Malik had to tell her. { 14 Years Later .... }

As the years went by and Grace grew up she could never say that things had gotten better because they didn't. She couldn't say that life had gotten easier because it didn't. Grace knew she couldn't predict her future but she would live day by day until she found that happiness that she longed for, that love that was never there, and that somebody that would protect her from everything. But nothing ever gets easier or better, that's only if you let it ......

Great first part! \:rah\: I love Sim kids they are so cute. How sad that Grace wasn't able to say goodbye to her best friend though. Surely her mother should have given her some warning about moving. Looking forward to the next part! \;\)
