Creating Wall Coverings and Floor Tiles for the First Time

Hi all,

Ok, so I've been simming since I got my first laptop 5 years ago (or there abouts), but I have only just started creating my own stuff. I'm starting simple, with wall coverings and floor tiles.

I'm finding the hardest part is being creative with it and getting repeating patterns to look good, it's all well and good designing a single section of something, but when that pattern is repeated it can change the whole look of it. I am finding that being able to create sets of things really nice though, creating two versions of the same style wall paper for split function rooms and creating a purpose designed flooring to go with it aswell, makes soooo much difference to the game.

I just need ideas for what types of designs I want to create, maybe something to go in the exsiting furniture sets.

I would like to move on to more complicated things at some point, like designing my own furniture, but one thing at a time, mustget use to making my own decorating stuff first, then move on to the bigger and better things.

I know Domphbee was wondering about recolours... so here they are! They took me Forever to get them to look right, but once they were done, they were an easy recolour. I'm now thinking, Black/White & Red. Champange & Blush Pink for a few other combinations... You can never have enough recolours...

Submissions

I will be uploading a dress and a lot today. It's my first lot so I hope everything goes the way I want it to. The dress is base game compatible and no mesh needed. The lot only use one custom content wich is a window by Simpossble.net. It's the GlassWall Window. Need to check if the window will download with the lot or if you need to download it seperatly. As I said it's my first time uploading a lot... Other than the window the only custom things are a few patterns. Wich I will try and find the creators for now!

Bogroll delayed - so onwards!

That scintilatingly attractive toilet roll litter for dirty bathroom floors causes probems in the game. 

I needed a Sims object that could be walked on, did not impede the path of Sims and could be placed on floors or counters.  The only object that matches this set of criteria is the decorative 'magazines' clutter (rugs are also walkable, but any mesh placed on a rug clone is flattened by the game to rug height - so not very useful for us meshers now) - so that leaves the magazines.  The trouble with those magazines is that they're not recolourable, and non-recolourable objects have proved impossible to clone with the Workshop until now.

A new beta of Workshop is in the works, and one of the fixes is to repair non-recolourable objects!  Yay!  And they do clone and install just perfectly.  But they have a problem in the game and cause a crash, so they're not quite working yet.  Therefore my twee Cottage Bathroom set (see piccies below) is now parked for a while. 

I shall turn instead to a new set of windows.  I posted up a poll (ages ago) about whether a variation on the Alpine set would be wanted, and there was a resounding YES to that so my next set will be the 30-degree Marina Roofline windows.

A picture?  Oh, ha ha.  You think I've made these yet?!  LOL!  No, I'm just full of empty promises.  I've made three windows, but they're not in-game.  When they are though, I promise they won't be back-to-front in Neighbourhood View this time!  Meanwhile, I hope this replacement picture suffices.  Happy Simming!

A sequel to 'Another Point Of View'

I'm starting to write a sequel to 'Another Point Of View'. Perhaps or perhaps to chapters. It's very messy though because I've got about 700 screens to sort and to choose out of.

Most probably the sequel will be called something like "Makin' up". So keep an eye open for the story to be publised.

I have been away for awhile because I went back to Sims 2 and I started creating again. I have fully restored my game and created a bunch of New Homes in the base game which after the New Year I plan on bringing them up to TSR. I am also in the process od making a website for my created families in newly restored Hoods. I want to thank everyone for stopping by and for downloading my homes. I plan to also have full Neighborhoods on my webiste soon and great homes here at TSR. Thanks for reading and stay in touch. GB

Sims 3 Problems

I am uninstalling TS3 once again :-/ Not permamently, mind you, but it's still frustrating. This will be the second time within the last month due to problems I've been experiencing. Just before I installed WA for the first time, the game started taking a LONG time to load and even when playing, it was frustratingly slow. Before that, it had been perfectly fine. So I thought it might be the amount of cc I had and I went through all of it and deleted what I could do without. Nothing changed.

I couldn't bear playing it in that state so I uninstalled everything and started from scratch (though I saved all my cc, of course! ;-)). After installing the game (not WA) and all my cc back on again, it had worked fine. But then - duh duh duh - I updated the game! Not a smart idea but at least I know now what was making my game go weird. It wasn't taking ages to load this time but strange things were happening. It was with the update 1.7. something and I have read there have been many problems with it.

The problems I experienced were:

*Food would spoil very quickly (which was incredibly annoying - leftovers are very handy ;-))

*The school bus would no longer come for my sim children (resulting in a bit of exercise for them - which they hated!)

*Some of my sims ages were going backwards (wouldn't some of us like that!?), and

*One of my families became unplayable :-(

There may have been more problems but that was enough for me to decide to start again - this time without updates - as time consuming as it is...

Well...anyway, I've shared with you my frustrations now so I'll be on my way :-) Oh, and if you've experienced similar problems, please feel free to vent below :-D

The Year 2010/ Spain

Hi all

Yesterday I made a decicion about what I'm going to do next year.

Real life is catching up with me and I've to start doing something with it!!!!!!!!!!

After I graduated at the beginning of the summer. I had a nice holiday, but that holiday is still stretching on until today and first it was nice to be home and all considering I didn't had a holiday in the last 4/5 years. Anyway it'starting to be really boring to sit around and do nothing.

For my study I worked on Mallorca (one of the Islands from Spain) in 2007 & 2008.

Yesterday I made the decision on going back in the Summer of 2010.

Nothing is for sure yet but in order to have a shot on a place next year I sigened in the application yesterday. I haven't sign any contract yet. But it's unlikely I'm staying in The Netherlands. 

I sigened in for a period of 8 months from March till the end of October. I'm waiting on a reply from the company now so this is all I know for the moment. When I have more info I'll let you know...

This means that IF I decide to go I won't be able to upload any lots/ screens or stuff like that

I can only chat/read/look and follow you all here on TSR. witch is also nice to do.

Like I said I'm still not atteched to anything. I'm just giving a heads-up

I'm not gone yet so you can still enjoy my creations

Blame riccinumbers - she wanted 'broken'. Left to me, I would have been nice about it (snort)!

But don't worry; I'm feeling charitable, so I shall throw in a non-broken version too - which will spruce up fairly nicely to mask the fact that it has served 3 million clients already and so will serve other, nicer, Sim purposes...

...though quite what THEY are, I have no idea!

My new Egyptian family, created for World adventures...

Hi all,

I have just created a large Egyptian family for you all. The father is called Amun, mother is Hatshepsut, older brother is Seti, male child is Horus and the female child is called Hats.

"Hats" I have dedicated to our well known very talented creator "Hatshepsut" or Hats as she likes to be known, here on TSR. She is a lovely person to talk to, drop her a line in her guestbook and check out her creations. They are Amazing!

The family all come with custom patterns that I have created, so I hope that you will like them. They are all currently in submissions, so please check back in a few days to download them all :)

I also have a A large Egyptian family house with basement tombs and a secret garden. This is now completed but I will release this after Christmas.

This week and next, I have more creations are on the way. Santa Claus and his wife Sandy Claus. You can check out what Sandy looks like in my Screenshots section. I am currently working on Santa's house complete with workshop toy shed and even space for the Reindeers! Hopefully this will be finished and ready for release soon too.

 Wow. I couldn't believe it. A 111 bookmark, I didn't know that I've made you guys happy with my creations. Before, I was only looking forward to 5,000 downloads, and now it's 170,000+ and counting.

I wanna thank you guys for the trust you have given me. And I promise to upload more houses with beauty in the future.

Life: A Gift

The muse visited me last night and bade me share this story with you. The seed was planted while watching movies with my brother, but my dreams took that seed and it blossomed into "Life: A Gift".

It is a short story with no plans for other than this one instalment, but I believe that the length does not diminish the message in any way. If anything, it makes it all the more powerful because it is not diluted by unnecessary words. 

I had intended waiting until the Jade Princess was done and dusted before I worked on this story, but it has not left me alone all day so I have written, taken screenshots, and uploaded the entire thing today. Besides, it is the holiday season, and the message seemed appropriate.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

Christmas Festivities Begin :-D

Well, christmas festivities have begun for me, haha. I've spent a good half of today having some drinks while continuing to work on the next installment of My Own.... It was quite relaxing and suprisingly I finished wiriting Part VI, though tomorrow I will go over it to make sure it all makes sense ;-) Then I'll work on the screenshots.

I hope you all are having a great lead up to Christmas, though I also hope it is a bit cooler where you are! It's so hot here and I really wish I lived in a cooler climate. My mum is French and I can't believe she likes the climate here more than over there. She should have been born here, and I in France! :-D

More World of Warcraft and Holiday Themed Releases

Ugh!   Just - UGH!!!

It's a lovely expression isn't it?  After all this time of shudderworthy niceness too.  You had no idea either really.  You saw all these castles with their medieval charm, which followed leisurely after the most syrupy-sweet Alice In Wonderland dining set - and you seriously thought I'd lost my mind, didn't you?!  Admit it.  You thought I'd really gone round the U-bend this time...

Oh ye of little faith!  Did you really, REALLY think I had abandoned our favourite domain of "Ugh!"?  Did you not notice my blog interspersed with 'toilet' mentions? 

Well, I have been working for a VERY long time on this particular little beauty.  It's 95% finished; I just need to deal with that high level of water that I'm wondering must represent US toilets, because British toilets have a mere puddle at the bottom.  I won't go into the merits of different water levels in the bowl of a toilet because I'd risk being banned for good and that's rather a bore, so instead I'll wind this up and show you the Masterpiece...

Oh!  I'm sorry - did you want me to offer an advance warning about that picture?  Oops!  * chortle *

There is more to add.  I want to make a grotty old privacy window for it, a broken toilet lid that props against the wall, a cubicle door - maybe a nasty little wash-hand-basin but the last time I visited that particular project I lost patience with it because my meshing skills became very unglued and so did I.

And the finale will be rounded up with a nice little toilet-roll holder - totally empty of course!  Ha ha HAAAA!

And before you ask: yes, the toilet seat IS meant to be at that precarious angle.  Aren't they all?

I'm converting the Asian Dining Room set I made for TS2

I'm converting the Asian dining room set I made for TS2 so it will work in TS3. So far I've made the Window (need to work on making the glass more obscure), Table, Chair, Buffet (I made it 3 tiles long instead of 2), Calligraphy, Sculpture and Lamp. Do you think I should leave the table 2 tiles long or should it be 3 tiles also?

I have just created a new box from the damaged one that had the snow and goose in.  You had put so much effort into bringing the gift to me that while on your way here: the snow melted, you accidentally tripped (probably because of the snow that melted), the dog widdled on the snow and made it all yellow, the dog ran off with the goose, someone stood on the box,  and you may have stepped onto something fishy smelling, so I decided to send you something special because of all of the effort you put into bringing me my gifts.  :-)

I'm all excited....I've just checked the weather reports for the next two weeks, as it is cold enough today to snow...and we have been forecast snow for Christmas..I guess everyone will be running to the bookies to place bets as to whether it will snow on Christmas Day (not that I will lol)....if it does snow on Christmas Morning, well..it gives me a bit of a warm feeling in my tummy thinking about it...it hasn't felt particulary Christmassy to me yet this year, can't seem to get into it, up to a few years ago I would get all excited and hyper at Christmas, but this year...well...maybe its because it's rained so much and it just feels like any other time of the year except there are no leaves on the trees...and it is cold today!! I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping and I can't decide what to cook for Christmas Dinner, i try to cook something different every year, even had wild mushroom tarte one year..have been toying with the idea of goose...well i will have to decide soon or it will be beans on toast :-D ...although i could add a sprig of holly and decorate the plate with icing and maybe that would do :-D...its going to be a quiet Christmas, might see my Dad on Boxing Day, but mostly working so I shall be here a lot I think...but where better could you spend Christmas!

I'm still trying to finish my Eygptian lot, but that's coming along extremely slowly, and spending most of my time trying to finish all the tombs in WA, which is soooooooooooo much fun :-D...

and lying around on the job is not going to get it done any quicker....

and having your butt catch on fire every five minutes doesn't help either!!

i really ought to check the floor more often ;-)...

and the walls :-D...

I am working on this set a long time. Problems don't stop. I wanted to share with you the last form. There are a few image problems.

• In the red circle; it has shadows on the drawer. I couldn't fix it.
• In the blue circle; shelf doesn't appear. Objects are in space. I hope, I'll fix it.
• In the small pic.; there is a new musical toy and it is working. I am happy!
