Vintage Skipper skins...and maybe more

This week I am working on some girl's skins based on vintage fashions for the Skipper doll (part of the Barbie family of dolls by Mattel.) I may also be finishing up some other assorted items that are currently half-done, so I can get them off of my computer.

AL Witch Add-ons

I have had so many inquiries in the last few weeks in regards to my Claws of Darkness add-ons as well as the possibility of the same for the Good Witch objects that I think it's time I post in my blog with an update.

Yes, I am still making more add-ons for the witch themed objects.

Publishing this week is part 1 of my Nursery set. This one is for Babies (crib, change table, mobile, deco shelf and wall quilt). The following week I will publish the Toddler set. This consists of toddler daybed, toy chest, potty, pet/toddler bed, activity table and highchair (this is almost complete, just need to finish the highchair). Some objects previews can be found in my gallery.

I am also planning on making a hall/entry set consisting of a bench/loveseat, bookcase, easel, mirror & coat rack. Also in the works are a Kitchen set with counter, island counter, upper cabinets, several sizes of dining tables and appliances.

There are a couple of smaller sets I will be publishing in between consisting of items that have been requested for various other Maxis match add-ons I have created. IE activity table, potty and pet/toddler bed for Seasons Country objects. Another GL add-on with misc. items (desk, chair, bookcase, single bed…)

Then I will concentrate on the good witch sets. My plan is to make similar items as for the "Claws of Darkness"; bedroom, nursery, kitchen. Suggestions are welcome, but I cannot guarantee everything that is requested.

Arghh

I am in the process of moving my downloads file to my zip drive. Unfortunately my computer got hit by a virus last week and it affected some of my drivers for my computer- as well as Windows XP. I am having to re-install everything. Unfortunately at this point it does not look like either the Goth Family Story or my Paradise Island custom community will be continued as I don't have enough disks at this time to completely back up the game files. I will start again with the Goths but, they won't necessarily come back the same so I might not continue the story. This really frustrates me but, at least if I am lucky my zip drive will hold all of my downloads and i won't have to entirely find everything again- which is good because I don't think I will be able to find my hairs from Helga, and SAU again as they are not on any other sites. I will also not lose my defaults which were all a pain in the behind to find. I am having to fully restore everything from the disks - Will post again if it does not effect my games but, I doubt it.

Birthdays

Our house has been busy the last three months, since everyone celebrated a birthday ... my mom, my son and I share January birthdays.  My dad's is in February and my brother's is March 1st.  But the big news is that we took my son to Disney World for his birthday.  It was his first time there and they are having a "get in free on your birthday" special.  Course now all he wants is to know when he gets to go again.  Aside from that, nothing much going on here.  Been trying to make at least one house a week, and it always surprises me... the ones I think will get a lot of downloads usually don't, and the ones I think are just OK get a lot more downloads than I expected.  Have you guys gotten used to the new TSR format yet?  I'm still not happy with it, and it loads so much slower than it used to, but I guess it's here to stay.  I hope you all have a great day and there's more to come, as always. -- Sara

Egg on my face...

I have accidentally uploaded a half-finished version of the "Not So Simple Coffee Mug" - a bit of mental califcication going on here as I get my simming legs back under me, I guess. I neglected to update the GUID to the new one.  this is what I get for trying to me smarter than I am, I suppose.

I will be uploading the corrected mesh within a short time, so let's the database isn't crushed under the weight of the site traffic on Monday!

It took longer than expected, but the updated file is finally in the pipe.

The exact problem dealt with the GUID.  In reconstructing the file so it would be base-game compatible, I had neglected to update the ObjectData with the new GUID, so the recolours were sort of lost.

When you download the corrected version of the file, simply copy the new file into your downloads folder and allow the new file to over-write the old file.  When you re-enter any lots on which you have used the "Not So Simple Coffee Mug", you should discover the wooden posing model, simply remove the model in build mode, then place the coffee mug and use the swatch tool to choose the recolour.

All of the recolours are contained in the base object, so you see thirteen (13) recolours and several -- eleven, if memory serves -- fill states.

Creating Paintings with SimPE

I finally installed Sim PE after having it for 5 years on a disk!! (Well I had to redownload the current version for Apartment Life/Mansions pack,) but hey! I have finally installed it.

I followed a Tutorial and literally 4 mins later, I had created my first picture. I continued to create about 10 more. I then went into the game to check them. They were all there and working fine. Woooohhh!!

So as soon as I can tear myself away from all my housework at home, I will upload a set of pictures.It will be a set of vintage black/white photos of old movies stars with their Chihuahua dogs. Well being a Chi lover I couldn't resist could I?

I have also created lots more Wallpapers so expect more sets to come.

Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the 20 living rooms. They look much better mixed and matched than they do all one color, but I wasn't sure how else to present them.

I have a request for more appliance recolors and I will be getting to that shortly. Working on something a bit different right now. I'll let you know when I think I have something to show. For now let's just say it is not my usual thing and leave it at that. Nothing especially wonderful or marvelous, so don't get your hopes up. Just different.

As many of you know, I'm usually a rather gregarious social bunny...flitting here and there, trying to help (occasionally succeeding), or just posting to see myself talk. :D Well, things have come up and my social calendar unfortunately needs to be kept clear for a bit. This just means that you probably haven't, and will not, be seeing me too often in the forums or posting in general.

I'll still be building, and uploading - I do love TSR, you know. ;) (In fact I have 2 lots in my upcoming bin...aren't you PROUD of me?! LOL!) I just need to focus a little more on some other things right now. Just wanted to give you all a heads up so you don't think I've fallen off the planet, or suddenly turned into some kind of elitest snob or something. :P OK...that's it for a while! Someone Help Me?

Okay... so i am trying to download new sim hair and clothes and etc from one computer to another. Is this possible? I'm trying to put it on a CD and download it to the other computer that has my game on it, and I can only do it this was because only one computer has internet -_- yay. So is there any way I can get clothes, hair, etc from this website download it onto a CD to a computer that has no internet?

Today is a good day--getting ready for a nice tasty fish fry--got some in-laws over to share the food and fun...and yesterday I actually finished ONE recolor of a nice dress mesh by Ulkrhsn--and I will soon do a few more recolors of the same mesh--since it was an interesting mesh to recolor, and lends itself well to summery spaghetti-strap dresses.  The second recolor I worked on; I had started late, and it was giving me problems, so I will get back to it later. I'll do some more clothing recolors, and some furniture recolors, and soon I will have a nice big catalog of things--and someday I will get back to meshing again.

Weekend Plans

So what are your weekend plans??

Me - i just have so many and not enough time for most of it! My basement needs to be cleaned out in a serious fashion! As does my downloads folders and the folders i use to house all my textures and fabrics etc. You wouldnt beleive the ginormous mess i have got happening on my pc.. i thought i was organized and have a gazillion sub folders within folders but its all over the place. I think before i create another thing i need to clean it up ! Yikes!

I wanted to try clothing again.. maybe tonight i will. I am pretty tired of writing about it and would rather get on here and tell you I HAVE DONE IT - look for the submission soon! LOL That should be my next goal - really ( after the cleaning of the folders) The sun is out here in my neck of the woods but it is deceiving as it is minus 7 - BRRRR! Triple BRRRR! I did not dare take my doggie to the DP ( dog park) but let my hubby do it. My daughter needed to go to WalMart to buy sugercubes for her ancient civilizatiosn project ( shes making a 3D pyramid and already tried and failed making one using popsicle sticks) Again i let my hubby handle that one. As i write this I am doing house laundry and I did get dusting done in the living room adn diningroom ( it was over due - i know ..baaaaaad - i am a cleaning lady my house shoudl be spotless right?)

So those are my plans.. oh I may organize my bedrrom closet too - it is horrible since christmas time.And make the kids go thru all their clothing to get stuff for donation. i know I need to go thru mine again. Doesnt look like too much outside activities are on my agenda!

Submission Problems

I've been trying for a week now to submit some things and between logging in continually, and/or getting

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I've just about had it.  I only submit things for my own fun and because I like sharing things I've made for myself and friends.  I am not a FA or even a SA, and I doubt anyone in power even knows my site exists (Certainly none of the BigWigs have ever acknowledged I exist (hmmm.... Is ignoring someone acknowledgement of their existence? ) but for heaven's sake, I can't imagine a FA or SA having these problems.  I know they must, and while I don't know what compensation they get, I know for myself it's just not worth the hassle  I can't imagine what it's doing to subscriptions.

The Dress! - In progress

So yesterday, I started doing SJP's dress from the Oscars... Well, in fact, I'm nearly ready with it, I just have to fix some mistakes, add a fatmorph and it will be ready ;)

Of course I'll do some other Oscar dresses (at least 1) and will publish them in a shiny new set ;)

Well i figured I would write a short update tonight before I hit the sack.. why i do not know cuz i am totally exhausted! This week has been a rather hectic crazy week .. my 16 yr old son had to have surgery this week to get his adnoids removed and it was running back and forth to a major city almost a hour away twice two days in a row! Today was especially long - most of the day spent at the hospital! Plus i had a full work week .. tommorrow i have some customers crammed into one day so i should be good and tired and unable to do diddly Friday nite.. well we'll see.. i hope not as I have some recolors I want to make and a bunch of stuff that i need to upload!

We have grown tired of our tiny townhouse so we have started looking around for a bigger place .. egads! what an endeavor that will be! We have soo much stuff - but makes a good reason to have a yard sale and also throw out a lot of crap we dont use or need! The move wont be until may or June --- and then at that time you may not see me for a week or two as i pack and move and unpack! I hate moving .. i really do and we have been here at this place 5 years.. we outgrew it LONG ago but because Pauly and I hate moving we stayed for as long as we could handle. But the boys and girls ALL need their own rooms instead of sharing so it is now time!It will certainly cost us a pretty penny to rent but oh well.. a few more years and they will all be gone on their own! ( Or so i hope anyways!LOL)

I havent had a chance to work on my website OR even read the book i have. A must do for this weekend along with the zillion other plans that i have scheduled. LOL.. like for example if its warm out i need to start spring cleaning and clean out the basement ( need to to move anyways) and i need to clean out the minivan .. wash , vac ...all that good stuff! I think i need a 192 hour long weekend! LOL again!

Okay anyways I am rambling and giddy cuz I am tired.. i am beginning to go cross-eyed looking at the computer screen too! LOL so i will go ...

Why is it ... ?

After spending a few hours thinking about it, it seems to me that many things being made for the Sims are not really all that common.  Sure, I can hear you, people do wear wedding dresses, but if you think about it, they don't wear them very often... I know that there is a certain perverse appeal in the shabby chic, that sort of grunged up forlorn decay that makes for lovely goth storylines, but common work-a-day things seem to be largely over-looked by custom content makers.

My friend Starfire (Firestar here on TSR) was complaining about the lack of some really common everyday items that would be useful for story-tellers.  She has some great ideas, but I don't think I am capable of achiving all of them.  One of the simplest things as a coffee mug with variable volumes of coffee, which resulted in me making the Not So Simple Coffee Mug which I have released this weekend. It is such a simple and useful thing that I have decided to make this permanently free so all story-tellers in the Sims Community can use it.

Several other things she asked for were the makings of a train station platform (I already made the railway tracks for the Arkham set) and morgue items (which strangely enough I know rather a great deal about).  I'd love to make the locomotive and railway wagons she requested, but I have gone down that road before and the poly-counts were just mind-boggling.  Maybe if there was any easy way to port meshes and textures between different games it might be done, but I can't expect the game industry to all agree on a format.

Any way... If you are a story-teller and have a specific need, don't be afraid to say something to me about it here in my blog.  Admittedly I don't read my blog every day, but I don't make content for the game every day either.  So if you say something here, maybe it will get made.  I am not promising it will, but just saying here is far better than in a PM, since I read my PMs even less often than I read my blog

Right now, school is very hectic for me so I was not able to upload new things for your sims... but no worries! I will be back and creating again sometime in March! Just give me time to finish all my school work! And also, I am slowing down my creations for now, im just finishing some of the LOT series that I started, and then start clearing my laptop in preparation for Sims 3!

I was once accused of art theft when I ran a animated blinkie shop on gaiaonline.com and I would never even steal something as small as another persons driveway gravel and since then I have been extra skiddish about asking for and making sure that I have complete secured permission. Its just a nervous tick of mine. If you get a request from me to use your work even though it already says TSRAA that is why; I would hate for all manners of hard work to be deleted again. This is the first time since all of my stuff on there got deleted that I have attempted to try to make things to post again; with the exception of fanart graphics.

I'm Back

So, I've been really busy with personal issues lately and- gasp- haven't uploaded anything in weeks. I promise this time I'll get something up soon.

Also, I'd like to say thank you so much to all the people who have signed my guestbook, left comments on my uploads, or bookmarked me. It really means so much to me :) In that vein, I'd like to know what exactly you want. Leave a comment or sign my guestbook if you have a specific request or general idea. Thanks!

MESH for Woodcutter windows TALL and MEDIUM

I got a comment today on my Woodcutter windows by Kate @ Parsimonious. it seems the poor gal was having trouble finding the mesh as accidently i posted the site URL but not the URL to the exact page of the mesh . My sincerest apologies - i thought i did!! So unfortuantely i was unable to link to that commenters page - that happens alot on here recently!

I've been offline for a while - my laptop packed it in - so I've lost a lot of stuff I was working on. I am starting again but it may take a little while. Crazy but TERRIFIC week!

This week has been really hectic work wise and with my 16 yr old having to have surgery on his adnoids in a different city ( 45 mins away form here at a university hospital) but despite the craziness .... I just reached 500,000 ( HALF A MILLION) downloads! Ho*y crap! I am so thrilled and amazed!THANK YOU THANK YOU A GAZILLION THANK YOU's to everyone who has downloaded!

Also i was really honoured last night when i received a pm from incredible creator MOM_OF2BOYZ who asked me to provide the textures for this week Texture Challenge #129! I just started participating in those last week so i was very thrilled at the invitation!

yay red cross! i just bled volunatrily at the blood drive at my school and almost passed out, but i got a free tshirt! :) i vote that everyone who is able to donate blood at least once in their life....its not that scary and doesnt hurt too much....bring a friend to keep you company or pop in some headphones and rock out to your fave song, talk to the people who are working and youll hardly even notice whats going on. when youre done you get free juice and cookies! :) yummy! plus youll feel great knowing you are helping make a difference, you are saving a life...and thats pretty darn awesome! :)

Ready-to-Harvest Garden in Greenwich Arboretum?!

My next three lots will be published tomorrow, 2/26, and I have a request from those of you who will be downloading the Greenwich Arboretum. I tried to make the lot in such a way that the garden is already in bloom - all plants are in a "thriving" condition and ready to be harvested. In addition, I prestocked both juicers, and you should be able to make eight different juices. I'm just curious if the lot really does appear this way for you, or if you're having to start at the beginning when entering the lot and plant everything yourself. 

HOW I DID IT:

Since you're able to save in play mode when you send a Sim to a secret society lot, I changed the lot zoning to a secret society, maxed out the gardening skill of the Sim sent there, and played the lot until all the plants were in bloom. Once I had the garden how I wanted it, I saved it, sent the Sim home, reentered the lot in build mode, and changed the lot zoning back to community. Note: I was able to reenter the lot without a Sim because I never placed the lot in the lot bin, which would have caused the lot to disappear as a secret society should if I had put it back in the neighborhood. Happily, when testing in my own game, everything was still harvest-ready, with the juicers fully stocked. After harvesting, leaving the lot (remember - this is as a community lot now), and reentering the lot later, the plants were still in bloom and I was able to harvest the same plants a second time. Never had to replant anything, since you can't save while playing your Sim in a community lot - just left and went back. :) Sims had veggies and fruit in their inventory upon arriving home. I really, really hope it works out that way for you all as well! 

WHY I DID IT:

Although you could easily live at the arboretum for a little while, since there are tents, grills, and a shower, you could theoretically stay on the lot throughout an entire planting season if you were to start a garden there from the beginning. However, since it is, after all, a community lot, and your Sims probably have things/people to take care of on their home lots, you might not want to keep your Sim there through an entire cycle just to get some produce. Basically, I did it this way so you can access produce quickly and easily, not only so you can reap the benefits of having "mouth-watering" produce in your home juicers without the effort of gardening, but also as a way to quickly obtain something sellable for a little extra Simoleons in your Sims' pockets.
