Lighthouse set updated

The lighthouse build set has been updated on januari 18th. The newer EP's made the objects in the collectionfile to show up greyed out, and that made them unplaceable. This has now been resolved.

Victorian Streetliving unpublished

(sort of repost from earlier this year)

The Victorian Streetliving set is temporarily unpublished. A few of the files in that set had become corrrupt on the servers, and seem to have become stuck/not replaceable. The corrupt files could in some cases cause the game to crash, and since I don't want my files to cause any trouble in anyones game, I have  unpublished this set for now.

The files causing the problems are the lamp version of the candle, and the fire. If you can click on them in the catalogue without any problem showing up, then those files are not corrupt and can be used without any problem. If you have problems with clicking on them in the catalogue, then they are corrupt and should be removed from your downloadfolder.

As soon as the problem with the files on the server are solved, I will republish this set. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Object rotators: 5 degree angle

45 Degree rotation not enough? You would like to have more freedom in how to decorate your homes, while still having your sims being able to use the objects normally? This is now possible!

I have made an objectrotator that will allow most 1-tile objects to be placed at a 5 degree angle. Sims can use all rotated objects normally. You can also rotate sims themselves when you use moveobjects on. Ideal for storywriters and screenshotmakers!

As you can see in the pictures, chairs can be placed any way you want them, making it possible to decorate in a more realistic way then was possible with only 45 degree angles.

There are 3 object rotators: one for large floor objects, one for small floor objects and one to rotate objects that can be placed on (end)tables. The difference between the two floor object rotators, is that with the smaller one sims will walk up close to it (think about todlertoys for instance) and with the smaller one sims will walk around it (think about livingroom chairs for instance).

How to use the object rotators

Place the object rotator on the ground, and hover with the object that you want to rotate above it, just as you would do if you place an object on a table. Press M on your keybord untill you reached the desired angle, and then just place it. You can keep the M pressed down for quick rotating. After placing you can make the rotator invisible with the included invisible recolor.

Stacking enabled

The rotators are stacking enabled. This is a new technique, that makes easy stacking possible. So if you place an endtable on the object rotator, you will still be able to place objects on top of that table. Stacking enabling will only work if the object placed on the floor is stacking enabled: an objectrotator placed on top of an endtable will not allow stacking. If that same endtable itself is placed on top of an objectrotator, then you can stack as much as you want on top of it. I hope this makes sense ;)

How to build pyramids

To make the pyramid walls go down for easy playing, you need to use a special (but easy) way of building. First of all, you need ofcourse the Pyramid build set, but also the invisible windows and doors (http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/sets/objects/526475/)

Important: Make sure you have the (residential and/or community) collectionfiles of the pyramid walls. You will not find the pyramid walls in the normal catalogue, only in the collection files!
The reason for this, is to not clog up peoples already full catalogues with something that is not very often used.

The technique used for the pyramids is basicly the same as for building the lighthouse.

1 Make a square with the normal walls. The size depends on how large you want to make the pyramid (15x15, 11x11, 9x9, 7x7 or 5x5).


2 Place the pyramid meshes against the inside of the normal wall.


3 Use a pyramid wall with door opening on one of the sides.


4 Use the invisible door to give sims access to the inside of the pyramid.


5 Use the invisible window to hide all normal walls.


6 Use the invisible fence to prevent sims from sticking their head through the pyramid walls, by adding the fence on the inside of the pyramid, 1 tile from the walls. The invisible fence is not part of the collection file, you will find it in the normal fence catalogue. Note: in the picture an ingame fence is used to show how to place the fence. The real invisible fence is invisible (duh ;) ).


The pyramid walls and invisible door/window/fences are TSRAA and may be included in lots here on TSR.

Free schedule and upcoming items

After the disappointment of The Sims 3 being delayed, I thought I'd set up a schedule of items which will be free between now and the release date! Here is the schedule, so make sure you grab them while they're free!

If you're a subscriber, of course, you can download those sets any time, but I've got plenty coming up for you too! I'm nearing completion of my range of home video consoles for your Sims. The base game version of the PlumbBOX 360 has been released, and a Free Time compatible version will follow soon after. Check out the poll on the front page of my minisite, and let me know what you want me to make after I've finished this range. I've currently got an elegant dining set planned, but this is a very large set so may take some time to complete, especially as I'm very busy with Uni work right now :)

Create-a-style in Sims 3

This was definitely my favourite feature in Sims 3. Although this was explained several times before, I realised some people are still a bit confused about how it works. So I made a sketch from what I can remember while playing the game.

When I say "objects", I mean furniture, walls, build items, clothes, etc. Basically anything that is made with patterns can be customisable using the create-a-style feature. A player can spend hours just using this tool and making unique stuff. And the best part is that they can make virtually anything inside the game match! :D

Back Somewhat

Um, my hiatus from TSR lasted a bit longer than expected.  My PC died while I was moving.  I've got myself set up on an old PC now, but it is kind of creaky and does not enjoy working with the EA stuff at all.  We'll just have to hope for the best and see how things go!

my life is over....well a main part of it atleast

swimming is now done. i was so excited to be done with this season, but i was not really ready to be done forever. i dont think the reality of it will set in until next october when the season would start up again. its been the main and constant part of my life for the last 9 years. i know that i wont ever really let it go, but its just not the same when you are no longer part of a team and participating in competitions. ive made some of my best friends through swimming and i know ill never lose them, but think of how many more i could gain if i was allowed to swim forever. of course my injury prevents that, and old age (not that 22 is old, but swimming is starting to take its toll on my body already). i also dont know if i could mentally handle never getting any better times for some of my events. it was hard enough being fustrated with my times for this season, even though i made some great lifetime best times in the fly. i need a swim vacation, not retirement. atleast i still get to spend some time at the pool teaching a friend how to swim so she canjoin the team next year :) there is also always studying to be done, but who wants to do that?

Custom Content.

Dear Sims Fans, I'm new in  The sims Recource so i dont really no much, But i have created some characters in other webistes.....like sims 2 website....i have created 1. I dont really have enough time to create custom content or the sims 2 website, But i will ashure you i will have time to create custom content here, Im going through first impressions in this webstie and i know my latest inpressions is not very good because i havent created anything. but i promise i will create custom content as soon has the cookies problem is solved. If You have any particular custom content you want to show me i will tell you the expansion packs i have for the sims 2.

An unmentionable wind problem...

So it seems with one of the TSR servers or some such like.  There is a lot of wind where once my sets resided on the servers.  I feared my creations were probably unpleasant enough to cause unmentionable gaseous disturbances but an antedote to the windiness has already kicked into play, and all files will be back later today.

That's unfortunate for you, isn't it?  Sorry about the nasty niff of my minisite in the meantime.

New to me...

I know that most Simmers have had their share of problems with SecureRom since at least Bon Voyage, but I have felt extremely lucky not to have had any problems with my game and felt very bad for those that had come across some very serious issues that SecureRom has caused.    I have almost all the EP's and SP's, and knock on wood no problems until I downloaded the Apartment Life patch a couple of days ago.  I now can't even start my game!  (Emulation Software Error)  I know that there are fixes out there, but this has really cheesed me off and I think I will be taking a break from the Sims for a while to cool down.  I guess my biggest problem is that there is no offical fix to this and you have to go to numerous different sites to find clear, working answers.  At this moment, the only reason I am not cancelling my Sims3 order is because my wonderful friend bought it for me for my birthday.  Between not fixing known problems, sending out known buggy software and delaying release of a game simply because they want to sell more copies a head of time, I can't think of a good reason to want to continue buying their merchandise.  This is just my opinion, and I am not trying to talk anyone else out of enjoying the game.  I am just simply ranting and feeling sorry for myself.

Incase you comment on any of my screenshots/stories and I forgotten to say thank you to you then thats what this blog is for, it's like a thank you note. I'm normaly too busy to even play sims but when I do I take a lot of screenies....lol. I want to write more stories but with three kids all under the age of eight thats a bit hard to do, so I'll mainly stick to screenshots until my youngest is in school. Anyways I just want to say thank you to everyone that has commented or wil comment on my screenshots and a BIG thanks to all the wonderful CC creators ;) keep up the great work and happy simming to everyone

End of February Updates!

Here's another lot for you guys. It has a very large courtyard in the middle of the lot with a pool and lots of flora. There's a home business above the garage. The master bedroom is large with a sitting area and a very big bathroom with a walk-in closet. There is lots of extras: clubhouse, billard/lounge area, hobby room, sunroom/reading room.

Twilight faces and Gossip Girl requests

This week I am working on a couple of things...1) finishing up some requested faces for Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen, and Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl and 2) faces for the cast of the movie Twilight. I am currently planning on Edward and Bella(of course), the rest of the Cullen family (Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, Carlisle, and Esme) and Jacob Black. Since the Cullens are vampires, their faces will be in the pale skin tone. This is the first time I've tried making pale faces, so this should be interesting.

My funny little secret revealed

Just for the heck of it i have decided to divulge a little secret i have to all of you. I do not own any photo editing programs ( though i am going to go purchase a better one) and so up until today I have been using MS Paint. LMAO- yes you read it right, the basic paint program that comes with the computer. A lady in the forums told me 2 years ago when i was looking into recoloring that i would never be able to recolor ANYTHING using MS Paint. LOL- hmmm.. I have created over 1250 items using it so far!  I do have the GIMP on my pc but i dont use it becaus ei dont really know how- i suppose i could read some tutorials they offer on their website.. but i thought i would share this cuz i think its a little comical. I do plan on investing in a better photo editing program shortly as now i have graduated to recoloring Custom meshes and well i want my creatiosn to look clearer and sharper!

Building

People have asked where I get my inspiration for my homes...everywhere. I was playing a card game with my family, the deck of cards series of homes. My youngest is a pastry chef so Sweetheart Chocolates was a must do. The once upon a time series of homes came from a children's magazine I was looking at in the doctor's office and all the cool stuff in AL. The alphabet houses...well that's just my quirky nature. Most of all it's imagination and creativity in overdrive. :)

Keep watching for more specialty homes by Grandmajam. My current project is a Camelot series. As always enjoy.

About time I update here. ^_^ I've been preoccupied with work too much. I said to myself its the end of the Sims 2 but am happy to see that the release of Sims 3 is moved to June this year. I hardly have time to play now really and I missed the old days. What else is new? I was interviewed by Pier in Koinup and an article about how I do my Sims 2 screenshots can be read from this link.

Since there is still 4 months to enoy this game, yes, I am going to finish another music video. The concept and storyline is actually by my husband. I just am gonna translate it to Sims 2. XD Hope to finish it before Sims 3 is released. I'm so happy to find more stuff that is helpful on making realistic animations for the game and since my game suffered a meltdown last month from a corrupted NPC memory file, I'm glad to say I have tweaked my game back to that old cinematic settings I have before the meltdown.

I also found a very cool, talented, webdesigner who can finally fix/help me manage my Sims 2 story/movie site. I payed a hefty 200USdollars for it but I can't for the life of me tweak it. I'm so happy this webdesigner, and a special friend joined my team! It will be a surprise! She's well known Sims 2 figure on storytelling, photoediting ~ frankensteining, webdesign and make the awesomest CC's and hair recolors! (She did one for my simmie Kyle. ^_^) I'm really excited to work with her.

Okay, I won't bore you much! Just keeping everyone updated! Thanks always for adding me to your bookmarks, the screenshot comments and the visit! I always appreciate them. Belated Happy V-day.

Getting my legs back under me...

I've been trying to focus on enjoying life as much as possible, and as chance would have it I have started making a few things for the game as I play.  I will post some of these here at TSR, I'm sort of retired, so I will post things from time to time with no schedule and no promises.  Some of the things I am making simply aren't suitable for the general audiances of TSR, but what is suitable, I will post here.

Hi everyone!

For some reason this new version made the whole community look mute and deserted to me. I used to read other members' blogs, visit their sites, leave them comments. Now it feels like everyone has disappeared.

Well, maybe I should spend more time here?!

Actually I have played and built a lot recently but just for myself. I have builf apartments, dorms, hotels... I am trying to build them so good I could eventyally submmit something again after a long pause.

Just that. I've decided to upload an unfurnished version. If someone really wants to play a story something like the Twilight, it really doesn't matter what kind of furniture Jake has, isn't it? I would try to pay more attention to the Cullen's house' furbishing anyway! (Or else, Esme would be upset, wouldn't she?)

Goth Family Damage

Bella and Cass are mad at Don- Cass nearly broke it off with him before I stopped her- Alex apparently cheated with Dina as did Mortimer-- (Bella doesn't know) I have not been in the Terrano household to see if Stella knows her man cheated. I really should resurrect Bella's Brother and see if I can engineer an unfortunate death by sattelite or fire for the Caliente sisters. Maybe I will marry Dina off to Malcolm Landgraab. Mortimer and Bella became elders- Cherie grew up as did all the other kids in the central family and now I have 8 controllable sims on vacation. Fun.

Upcoming Submission News, Feb. 16th, 2009

Hello, everyone!

I hope I haven't left too many of you hanging, since I was uploading lots nonstop for a while then suddenly seemed to disappear. Nope, no disappearing here - I really did have to take my time with the lots I've just submitted to TSR, considering two of them are academic buildings completely stocked up with much of what your students are probably looking for, including use of several career objects. Here's the skinny:

1) School of Creativity: This lot has three very different performance halls, one for actors/comedians/poets, one for jazz/country/rock music, and one for classical music, each with its own dressing room/green room backstage. In addition to that, there is a writing lab with a corner for a poetry jam, as well as a music technology lab, costume shop, dance studio, art studio, and art gallery. This lot, by far, took the most time, since I was being picky about the layout for the performance halls. I'm happy with it, though, and hope you will be, too!

2) School of Knowledge: This lot's focus is for more right-brained Sims and has a heavy focus on the logic skill, although there are some things that improve other skills as well. Since the logic-based items in the game seem to take less space than creativity-based ones, and since both schools have the same floor plan, I used the extra space to house the campus store, computer lab, and library. In addition to these rooms, there is a medical lab, science lab, astronomy lab, lecture hall, and drafting room.

3) Arboretum: Whenever I do landscaping, I try to use very few plants that actually die or cause weeds, hence my focus on trees in this park. However, I have also included the fruit trees and garden plots from Seasons, not only for color, but also so your Sims can improve their gardening skill. I took the time to actually play through the lot so I could save it with all of the plants being in bloom at the same time at a "thriving" level - hopefully, they will indeed appear this way when other people download it (more on how I did this later). Also, the juicing stations I built into the park should also appear pre-stocked and ready to make about eight different juices, since I doubt many of you will keep your Sims around long enough to witness the entire lifecycle of a garden in order to get produce. HOPEFULLY, my plan worked. Hopefully. Also in the arboretum are grills, a few tents, campfires, a huge lake for fishing, an overlook with a telescope and easels, hammocks, etc. Plenty to do!

LATER ON..........

Expect only two more lots after these three to go with Linden College. I've got the gym and the technical school underway (the technical school having a focus on mechanical/cooking/cleaning/other remaining skill points and badges), and after that, Linden College is SO done!

Building a curch

I just started to build at Curch for my sims with a BIG graveyard. All my sim who die will come there eventuelly. Maybe I will share it when I´m ready with it.

But right now I just need things for the curch. And I am looking at some places to find it=)

Story Updates and Such

Okay, a few things to go over with for stories. Nothing major I guess but a few things everyone should know.

1. I need to know if there is anyone who wants to be alerted when there is an update on any of my stories. In this case we're talking about 'Forgotten Redemption'. So for anyone who wants an update on a new chapter or part of the story please comment in this blog saying you want to have updates.

2. I might not be able to update as much as I usually do. See, school has started and I'm in year 9 (Translation: I'm in year 9 and the work is so much harder then it use to be!) Lots of asignments I need to do, they're all due in at different times. Some early others late. Either way, I really need to start on them and focus on them. This also means I may not be on TSR all the time :(

Sorry if there is any inconveniance (spelling?) with the following problems. I just thought I'd let you guys know about that stuff. So thanks everyone, you're all fantastic and you all ROCK!
