Originated from Sarawak on the island of Borneo, Pua Kumbu is easily one of the most recognizable patterns on the Land of the Hornbills. Literally means "cloth" or "blanket" in the Iban language, Pua Kumbu is used by the Iban people for sacred rituals such as Gawai (harvest celebration) and weddings. The patterns of the pua kumbu are heavily inspired by nature, and different patterns carry different meanings.

This dress is a modern take on the pua kumbu which celebrates the culture in a modern way. The fashion trend arose around the 2010s and more women are wearing this elegant dress on parties, dinner and even to an office meeting!
