Note that you will need to update your game to at least 1.26 for PC, 1.27 for Mac (or install the Pets EP) for any new CC to work which you download after October 20th 2011.

Step 1 - Preparations

Step 1.1 - Do a manual backup

If you are unsure which folder to back up we would suggest you take no chances and backup all files and folders under /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/. Copy this folder and all of its content to another folder on your hard-drive, USB stick or DVD etc.

Step 1.2 - Install Pets or patch the game

Before proceeding you should either have The Sims 3: Pets EP installed, or be patched to the very latest game version (1.26). Do this through the game launcher.

Step 1.3 - Download the granny2.dll

For our tool to work you need to have a specific file on your system (granny2.dll). If you have other computer games installed on your computer, you may have already this file installed. We cannot give you this file for legal reasons, so you will need to search the internet for it if you do not already have it. Please be aware that there are multiple versions of this file available. The one that RigFix needs was created in 2009. If you download an older version, you will get this error seen below.

Step 1.4 - Download "TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer"

Time to fix your files! Click here to download "TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer" and save it to your desktop (or elsewhere if you prefer).

Step 1.5 - Install "TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer" tool

Simply doubleclick the rigfix_setup.msi icon that you saved to your dekstop (or elsewhere) to begin the setup and installation. Follow the steps as seen below and unless you want full control, simply accept the suggested installation options provided by the installation wizard.

Step 1.6 - Place the granny2.dll file in the right folder

You will need to manually place the granny2.dll in the RigFix folder. Copy and paste the file to this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims Resource\TSR RigFix. Now double-click the RigFix icon to begin.

So far so good - "TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer" has now been successfully installed and it's time to patch your game.
